We started painting.

PrairieMom wrote: We started painting the nursery yesterday, and well, i don't know what I think about it.
the top is white, we are going to add pink stripes and the bottom half of the room is pink . the pink I picked out matches the bedding perfectly, but it looks like Pepto bismol. ohmy.gif I'm hoping that adding the white furnature and white curtains will help tone it down a little. unsure.gif I'll try to get some pics for y-all.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Wait til it dries completely before you freak out. I am sure once all the furniture is in, you'll love it.

jacobsmama replied:
I agree. It always looks bright with nothing else in room. Once you get it all in there it will be great I'm sure. wink.gif

TwinMama replied: Ditto

My3LilMonkeys replied: Can't wait to see the pics - I bet it's beautiful!!

luvmykids replied: thumb.gif I bet it'll be perfect!

PrairieMom replied: Okay here is the dresser.

And this is the top of it...

And here is the room. I was really going for a pale cotton candy color, but what I got was BUBBLE GUM. And it hits ya like a brick when you walk in. It has been dry for 24 hours now.

I think we should re do it in a more pale pink, DH says we should go darker. I want to decide now before I go through the trouble of doing the stripes. What do you think?

Momof3inMe replied: I love love love the dresser!!! Did you do it free hand? I like the wall color but I think I am with you and go pale.

My sister is doing the same strip thing but she had her baby 3 weeks early and the room is not ready!!!

AlexsPajamaMama replied: Thats a pretty dresser!! Cute flowers and I love the little ladybug on top! biggrin.gif The pink is pretty bright, but Im sure it will look okay with the white furniture and stuff

PrairieMom replied:
I stamped the flowers but free handed the rest. I did it to match an applique on the crib bumper.

C&K*s Mommie replied: we have two shades of pink in stripes in C's room. One is similiar in color to your pink on the wall but it is a little more muted. The other pink is similiar to the one of the other pinks in the dresser. It alternates pinks and whites. I think the pink in her nursery is fine. If you are not happy go with stripes or squiggles or something to break up the continuous pink color.

siblingtooolivia replied: I love the dresser too - such talent, too bad you don't live closer to me, I would hire you to do one for me!! Have you thought about just doing the strips paler and leave the bottom alone? I love the bold colors so it looks great to me, especially like you said, with white furniture and white crib and white curtains... wub.gif

PrairieMom replied:
I hadn't thought of that. Would I need more than one color of stripe then? like light pink, darker pink, white, or something like that?

PrairieMom replied: On a side note, DH isn't fond of the dresser. He thinks its to Uber girly, and said that looking at it was making his Pen!s shrivel up! laugh.gif

ashtonsmama replied: I think it looks GORGEOUS!!!
wub.gif
Wow-seriously, it's so beautiful! I want you to come do mine!
laugh.gif
Wonderful job on all of it...

luvmykids replied: I love it all, as is. I don't think that pink is too shocking, especially because it won't be long before she's not such a baby-baby, kwim? and would probably enjoy the brighter colors.

MyLuvBugs replied:
Nice! rolling_smile.gif

I think it looks very cute, and I hate pink, so that says a lot. smile.gif I like the idea of lighter pink stripes on the top half. Maybe thin stripes and outline them in a light green? Just an idea. Or if you still don't like the bottom color, you can always sponge a different shade of pink over the top to soften it up a bit.

But the dress is really cute. smile.gif

Brias3 replied: I LOVE IT. I really do. The dresser is absolutely gorgeous- I wish I was crafty like that. I think it'll look just darling all together smile.gif

Nina J replied: I love the color and the furniture. It will look so different once it is all set up, I think a pale pink with white furniture would make the room kind of dull. The brighter pink will make it more colorful with white furniture.

siblingtoolivia replied: Use the color strip that you picked out the pink you already have from then go one or two shades lighter! I bet that would make it softer.....Good luck!!!

PrairieMom replied:
Thats kinda what I was thinking too, but DH thinks we should go darker. rolleyes.gif I have also been throwing the idea of sponging the lighter shade on top, but I have never done that before. That would also mean that I have to sponge all the stripes we are going to do, and that would suck. dry.gif

3xsthefun replied: I think it looks cute. I like the dresser too!

BAC'sMom replied: Looks great....you did a wonderful job on the dresser.

coasterqueen replied: I think it looks great the way it is and I LOVE the dresser. I wish I was that talented. blush.gif

I'd love to put color in the girls room like that but DH is all about white to maximize the look of space. rolleyes.gif
