Weird ? for moms of boys - Taking ds to pedi when it opens
flirtycuddle wrote: Last night I was changing my ds's diaper and when cleaning him up I noticed his lil head is purple. I have never noticed this before and it caught me off guard so I asked df to look at him and he didn't have a clue. I really don't think that is normal but am not sure. I have heard of hairs getting wrapped around babies fingers and such and just to make sure I checked to see if one was there but there is nothing there.
gr33n3y3z replied: I'm not sure either I was going to suggest what you already did I assume you pulled back the skin to check right?
But I would call the Dr and just ask
Crystalina replied: Yea, I would call the doc and ask as well. I'm not sure how old he is but I do remember that after Evan was circum. his turned purple for a few days. Freaked me out but it went away. I can't recall if you have a new baby or not, sorry. I say call anyway. KUP.
lisar replied: I agree I would call the Dr and have it checked to be safe. I dont have any boys so I dont know.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: It's always safe to have the ped check it out...but from your post, I would say it's probably just a bit of diaper rash. My boys get it there. Just rub some Desitin on it and it should clear up.
flirtycuddle replied: He's had a diaper rash that comes and goes but the head has never turned purple and that's what I thought to so I put diaper rash creme on it and it's just the same. He wasn't circumsized due to having hypoaspadius so it wouldn't be that and he's 4 and a half months old. And yes I pulled the skin back to check. It just kinda freaked me out when i noticed it last night. He's had diaper rash cream on him for the last few days and the diaper rash is gone.
Calimama replied: I have no idea.. I would take him in. Hope he has an easy doctor's visit.
sparkys2boys replied: is it swollen any?? My little guy was 6 and had to go get circumsized, he got a really bad infection and it was very purple and swollen. I would not leave it, just in case. Good luck with it
lesliesmom replied: I have no clue what that might. My first reaction was a piece of hair that got caught and wrapped around, just under the head (dd had one that wrapped around her toe and did a similar thing) but since you checked for that already I would call the doctor and ask their opinion. Good luck!
redplaydoh replied: Depending on the day, Lucas' looks purple some days and reddish pink others. I just always thought it was normal.
redchief replied: If it looks much different from normal I'd definitely get a professional opinion. Most likely it's not a problem. You can check for adequate circulation to make sure by gently squeezing the tip until it pales, then watching for the color to return. This should happen quickly at normal room temperature. Again, if it's much different looking from what you're used to I'd have him looked at just to ease my mind.
flirtycuddle replied: I asked my dad cuz he works in a hospital and he said the pedi that was on today said it could just be nomal but might also be circulation probs. The pedi opens in an hour or so
