Weird noise in my basement just now
My2Beauties wrote: Um...I don't even want to go down there after what I just heard. OK the washer and dryer are going but I have one of those washers and dryers that are really quiet and you can barely hear them, I mean they're brand new practically, so I don't think they would ahve made this noise. It sounded like someone threw something down there or dropped like something hard on the concrete floor on the unfinished side - the really spooky side. I'm here by myself, DH is at work and Ms Hanna is at my mom's for the evening. I was catching up on some housework and stuff. This noise was really loud and literally made me jump out of my seat. There is nothing down there that could have fallen off the walls, no pics or nothing hanging up in the basement The other night I swear it sounded like people were walking upstairs in Hanna's room. No wonder she doesn't want to sleep up there She has been sleeping on the couch. I mean it seriously sounded like people were up there just walking around and sometimes even stomping. When I asked Hanna why she didn't want to sleep upstairs anymore, she said mommy when you turn the light off, people come up there ACK My jaw dropped. And just when that movie The Messengers is coming out and I'm seeing all those commercials about it where they say kids can see spirits and ghosts. Lord....I don't even want to come out of this room now.
Brias3 replied: Omg, that's freaky. I'd feel the same way. Mason used to point at a corner of his bedroom and stare up at that part of the ceiling when he was younger. I even woke up in the middle of the night once (while having fallen asleep in his bed) to find him doing that It totally spooked me.
Hopefully your DH comes home from work soon!
cameragirl21 replied: i have a lot of experience with ghosts and sorry to say but that sounds like classic ghost activity--stuff dropping and footsteps, welcome to the story of my childhood. if you want more info or just to talk about it, feel free to pm me but from what you described so far, i don't think you have anything to fear, you just have to share the place because most likely, they ain't going away. don't be afraid, i know it's easier said than done but it doesn't sound like you have anything to fear. if i were you i'd go down to the basement and see what's going on, sounds like someone is trying to get your attention and won't stop till s/he has it.
CantWait replied: Oh Gosh LeaAnn that's scary as he**.
Calimama replied: Ghost or no ghost that would scare the cra* out of me.
luvmykids replied: OMG I almost peed my pants just reading it Will DH be home soon?
redchief replied: Ghosts? Riiighhtttt. My guess is that whatever made that noise succumbed to the laws of gravity, nothing more.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well Ed... you may not be a "believer"... but when you've btdt.... it's hard to ignore certain aspects of it....
I'd be freaked too, LeaAnne.
<aybe you should call Ed to come check it for you.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I'd be scared too!! I hate hearing strange things in the night. Working the night shift alone at the nursing home was terrifying sometimes.
Ed is probably right about the sound in your basement though. What Hanna said about people coming up in her room would freak me out though!!
PrairieMom replied: I had an experieance one day when Ben was really little, he was in his crib screaming bloody murder at the wall. I got this feeling that my Grandpa was in the room with us, and just said out loud " hi Grandpa, Thanks for visiting, but you are scareing Ben, so could you please leave?" and All the sudden I didn't feel Grandpa there anymore and Ben stopped crying. Maybe you can just let them know you know they are there, and they will leave you alone?
grapfruit replied: Ah! Creepy!! I agree, let Ed come check it out for you!!!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Man I would be freaked out. That happened to me in a house when I was younger, I was babysitting and I heard this noise downstairs. I was right across the street so I think the baby and I went home that night. Jade has done somethings in buildings where bad things have happened. We used to go see my friend Tonya in the PACAF building when we lived on Hickam AFB. There was this one room that she would just not go into. The 3rd floor is reputed to be haunted because it was used as a morgue after Pearl Harbor. Another time was when I brought her to a Cracker Barrel in Naples. I'm not going to get into the details of what happened there, but we got to the spot where the store turns into the resturant and she just stopped like she hit a brick wall. She looked up at me and said Mommy I don't like it in there. She just wigs me out when she does stuff like that.
MoonMama replied: I think I'd be at my MOMS!!!
That is seriously scary! This kind of stuff really freaks me out!
grapfruit replied: I second that! Totally scary! Probably more so since I've had experiences, and people close to me have as well...
momtoMegan&Alyxandria replied: I would be freaked too. We use to live just down the street and at that house Megan (who had never before been afraid of the dark) started refusing to sleep in her own bed. One night she told me that the reason was everytime the light went off there were bad men in her doorway to take her away. She freaked me out big time (and then she got a nightlight). But that isn't the end. After that my brother-in-law say a blonde little girl sitting on my couch and everyone was in our computer room, but him. And as if that wasn't enough, I was laying in bed on the verge of sleep and as I rolled over I opened my eyes to check the time, when I did I saw a blonde little girl standing in my doorway. I closed my eyes and then immediately reopened them. Noone there. So I got up and went to my daughters room and she was sound asleep. Now the crazy thing is, is we moved 4 doors down and I think (not real certain) that I saw the same blonde girl in my new house. Lets hope not.
grapfruit replied: Cyndi, you forgot to mention that you never KNEW Tim saw that little girl until I told you AFTER you told me!!! And even freaker is that you both decribed her EXACTALLY the same!!!! Ok, I'm going home now, your house is creeping me the heck out!
momtoMegan&Alyxandria replied: Yeah, I forgot about that, and I was trying to be brief.
msoulz replied: So what was the noise?? Has the mystery been solved????? Inquiring minds want to know!!
We have one of those egress windows in our basement so I would be totally freaked that someone broke in. When my husband is gone I put a chair in front of the basement stairs so it would be very difficult for someone to get up the stairs without making a lot of racket!!
HuskerMom replied: That is kinda spooky I think if I heard that in my house during the day I'd grab my bat and check it out, at night I'd stay upstairs til DH got home and then make him go check it out I was trying to fall asleep one night last summer and I looked in the mirror and saw what looked like a man standing in the doorway. I just rolled over so I couldn't see it. And once in a while I will here stuff upstairs at night that sounds like footsteps but I just ignore it and go to sleep I don't care if there's things in my house that I can't see as long as they leave us alone
sweetgirl replied: Hey How scary Huh?? I had childhood experiences myself!! I do believe in God, and demons, as well. I also believe children are more sensitive to what's really real!! So don't completely ignore what your children say about what they may see or hear. That is very interesting, I just pray for God's protection around my child at all times. I'm sure they don't always see bad things, probably angels too!! Who knows... Look forward to more discussions
cameragirl21 replied: idk, this kind of stuff doesn't scare me...anymore, i've seen it all before, too many times to count. and Ed, if you'd been thru what i've been thru, trust me, you'd be a believer too.
ZandersMama replied: Thats so freaky. My 2 year old use to always see a man everytime we would stay at one particular friends house. He would shake and cry and scream "the man mom, the man" . So, one nite my friend and I sat on her bed with Zan and said, Zan tell the man he is silly and to go away. So he did. I got him settled into bed and she said, "okay grandfather you have scared the children enough, time to move along." My son hasn't seen a thing since. This went on for about 2 months before hand. Real weird, but i'm happy he listened.
paradisemommy replied: ok i had an old coworker that had a 4 to 5 yr. old son at the time of this that increasingly refused to go home - he only wanted to stay at the grandparents house - when he was at home, he would run under the dining room table and refuse to come out -when asked why he was there, he would tell you "because that man is staring at me (pointing up at the top of the stairs) - don't you see him? " they finally called in a pastor of some sort that when they got him on the phone immediately told him.."oh i can feel the negative energy around you" then when he came out to the house walked around the neighborhood and confirmed that it was just over their house. he said the ghost was living in their attic and was even following them into work..once they did the blessing on the house then everything was fine and the son (who is probably about 8 now) has not said a word since..
redchief replied: So, what made the noise?
TheOaf66 replied: a ghost did Ed
I have to go with your line of thinkin Ed, not a believer in the paranormal but I am sure other people do so to each his own.
Twelve Volt Man replied: I'm with the guys on this one.
kristy-n-chad replied: Me, too!
Boo&BugsMom replied: Me three.
holley79 replied: I just got total goosebumps reading that. Ok, refresh my memory. Did you just move into this house not long ago? Is there anyway to speak with the previous owners or something?
C&K*s Mommie replied: Come back to give an update when you can, I am curious now about what it was.
KingMom replied: So I'm totally freaked! Has anyone heard from her yet?
McKenna replied: Another believer here, I used to look down on people who had said they had seen orheard ghosts and thought it ridiculously stupid until at my friends house once, 4 of us were in the room, the 3 of them facing the tv me facing them when I saw a shape of a man running about 8ft tall go along one wall, along the next wall and vanish through the door. The shape was just lighter than everything around it, and no light source could have done it, since its legs and arms moved as it was running, and it did not go over the people sitting in front of the walls, it went behind them, if it was a light source it would have been interrupted by them but it wasn't. It freaked me right out, and they've always said that house was haunted, but i never believed them, and they even checked historical records and found the house is partially built over an old monastary.
