Well, I knew it would happen sometime... - she fell out of the bed

amynicole21 wrote: I woke up to a crash and Sophia screaming at about 2am last night. We co-sleep, and she's usually on the inside, between DH and me. Last night I nursed her back to sleep on the outside of the bed, but we have a bed rail, so I never really worry. There is only a gap without a rail up where my pillow usually is, and the nightstand is there. Somehow, she got through the gap even though it is about a foot above where her head is on the bed! She knocked a bunch of stuff off the nightstand on the way down, but I think that broke her fall. I have pillows on the floor there, but apparently she missed them. She screamed for about 30 seconds, but as soon as I picked her up she quieted down and fell back to sleep. I was panicked, but she was fine. I didn't turn on the light, though. We all slept pretty badly last night out of paranoia. Woke up this morning to a bit of blood on the sheets, and found some dried blood on her lip!!! ohmy.gif She was fine, though, besides that. I am so lucky. I guess it's time to start trying out the crib again... sad.gif

booey2 replied: Sorry you had such a scare and hopefully she will alright. Sometimes a crib can be a beautiful thing.

Kaitlin'smom replied: awww how sad. glad she is okay. Hugs to everyone.

ediep replied: awww poor Sophia. I'm glad she is fine

jcc64 replied: BTDT with Corey. We co-sleep too, much to the dismay of my parents. We keep a dog bed on the floor next to the bed; it's much bigger and thicker than a pillow. You can get them at any big warehouse club, Walmart;etc,.

Mommieto2Girls replied: Poor, Sophia!! Glad to hear she is ok .

MommyToAshley replied: Aweee! Big hugs to Sophia and Mommy!

Glad she is ok!

Jamison'smama replied: Oh no, glad she is okay!

That is exactly how we sleep--bed rails the same way, gap/nightstand exactly the same. I woke up one night with her crawling onto the nightstand so we were only a step away from the same thing. I now put pillows on their sides so it blocks any gaps but I know that it is a matter of time before she figures that one out. My DH says it is time to put her in the middle but we haven't yet--sounds like we should though.

Big hugs to you and Sophia

victoire2002 replied: We had the same thing happen about a month ago. Now I sleep with Aidan on a pallet on the floor. I just took off bed mattress in his room and we sleep on this. We tried to cio method and the crib, and he just wouldn't have anything to do with it!! tongue.gif

Now I am trying to wean him, and it's especially tough at night. He is trying to make up for lost time at night, and we spent 1 1/2 hrs last night trying to calm him down without his Booby passy. It was tough!

~CrazieMama~ replied: Awwwww, poor baby. I am glad she is ok. I have BTDT. Both my kids are fine after falling from the bed, couch, even jumping out of the crib!!!! But they are pretty tough babies. Hugs to you and baby. grouphug.gif grouphug.gif
