Well I lived through it - 3 hour glucose tolerance test
~Roo'sMama~ wrote: It was sooooo boring. But Scott decided last night that he wanted to come with me because he didn't want to sit around the house all morning without me. It was nice to have someone to talk to. Mostly we just sat there and read but I think it would have been a lot worse if he hadn't come! My finger is KILLING me... they poked me four times. I had them do two different fingers because the first one was getting sore after 2 pokes. It really wasn't that bad but the very last time she poked the very top of my ring finger and it hurt so bad I drew my hand back really fast without trying to - it bled a lot more than the other ones did and it still hurts. I'm such a baby. I won't know the results until tomorrow. I had the strongest urge to go buy chocolate chips and peanut butter so I could make Scotcheroos tonight just in case I can't eat them after tomorrow! But I'm sure it will be fine... it better be!
MomToMany replied: Sorry you had to go through that. I've never had to. But at least your hubby came with . What a sweetheart!
5littleladies replied: Well at least it's over with. You should have gone ahead and gotten the stuff for the Scotcheroo's-I could always eat them if you can't.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Everything will be fine. I had to do a 3 hour when I was pg with Maddie and I remember my finger hurting for days after they stuck it. When I was pg with Ethan they drew blood instead (much more preferred). (different doctor)
Glad you survived and Scott came with. He deserves some scotcheroos atleast!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: HA! Lol if I can eat them I'll share with you how's that. I'm still thinking about going to the store for the stuff.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: The nurse who did it said that they normally only poke your finger before you drink the stuff, and then draw blood for the 3 times after that, but some machine was broken so they couldn't... I have no idea how that works. I hate hate HATE having my blood drawn so maybe this was better... even though that probably wouldn't still hurt and this does.
ediep replied: well, glad its over! Sorry about the sore finger!
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Glad it's over and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you tomorrow.
They drew blood for all of mine. Unfortunately I am a darn hard draw so I ended up with bruises all over my hands and lower arms, it hurt for a week
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Yay! The clinic called and said it was normal. Now I feel dumb for worrying about it. I wonder what threw me off on the one hour test? I had a coke the night before I guess that could've been it. Actually I'd had a really bad cold all week and was eating and drinking lots of sugary stuff to make my throat feel better so I guess that was probably why.
DansMom replied: Congratulations for passing the test! Gestational diabetes is such a battle---I'm glad you don't have to deal with that.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Me too. I don't think I could have handled it right now.
Tamatha replied: Oh, that's great news!!! I'm so happy for you that the test came out ok!!
coasterqueen replied: Oh I'm so glad your Dh was able to go with you Sara and that you survived it. Also glad to hear that you passed the test too! Wahooooo!
Won't be long now before you're little one is here.
Gosh, I still can't get used to having mine here yet.
A&A'smommy replied: YAY I'm glad it came back normal!!!
MommyToAshley replied: I am sorry I missed this post earlier! Awee, your DH is sweet for going with you.
I am glad the test came back normal, now you can go celebrate with Scotcheroo's. BTW, what are Scotcheroo's?
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Scotcheroos are the yummiest thing on the planet! Lol they're like special K bars, only with rice crispies. They're made with peanut butter and sugar and corn syrup, and frosted with melted choc. chips and butterscotch chips ~ hence the name *scotcheroos*.
Yes it was really sweet of Scott to come with me. I wanted to ask him to come so bad, but I didn't want to make him sit there for 3 hours when there was no reason he should be there. So I was pretty happy when he told me that he wanted to go with me!
