Well, I wasn't going to ask.... - But.......

MyLuvBugs wrote: This is a little strange, and at first DH and I just said it's a phase. However, now I'm starting to wonder if there is something wrong with my kid. blink.gif

She's obsessed with her Hoo-Hoo!! blush.gif ohmy.gif unsure.gif She walks around the house grabbing her croch like some kinda ganster!!

Is this normal? I thought well, maybe she's trying to tell me she needs to go potty.....nope. Well, at least not everytime she does it. I'd say only 1/4 of the time she does this, we take her to the potty and she actually pees.

And when we changer her diaper, she touches and pokes down there like.....well....I'm not really sure what like. huh.gif Just pokes? And I tell her "yes, that's your hoo-hoo where your pee comes from." But, is that really what she's wanting? unsure.gif

I guess I'm just finding it odd that she's just started doing this out of the blue, and it seems to be getting worse..... blink.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: I think it's pretty normal. If you don't pay much attention to it, or you explain to her that it's something that's done in private, you are ok. wink.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I think it's normal for toddlers to explore their bodies. She also may be starting to aknowledge when she needs to pee. I wouldn't worry about it. Wil grabs at his everytime his diaper is off or when he's in the bath.

A&A'smommy replied: VERY VERY normal she is discovering herself, alyssa still does it...

My3LilMonkeys replied: Definately normal! Brooke did it, and for a little while after Madison was first born she always wanted to poke at Madison's too rolleyes.gif - that was when we told her it was something private and that she had to leave Madison alone.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: It's very normal. wink.gif Both of my kids have had moments at certain ages of doing this.

luvmykids replied: The first time I ever posted on PC was about this! Kylie is older, so I guess I expected if she hadn't done it until then, she was gonna skip it altogether. But Macie is "curious" too. ITA, don't make a big fuss about it. We do have a rule though, I think Julie gave it to me, that says if you want to touch private places you have to do it in private spaces!

C&K*s Mommie replied: It is called the phallic stage or phase. Like everyone said it is very common, it may even continue into toddlerhood. Like Monica said, don't make a fuss over it, or it may backfire and make her feel ashamed.

jacobsmama replied: If it isn't normal then Jacob has a problem too blush.gif he grabs his every chance he gets we just ignore it and it seems to be getting better. wink.gif

earlsmom replied: My DS likes to watch Elmo sucking his thumb and his other hand is in his pants. I ignore, but that hasn't deterred it.

Girls will grow out of it, but boys never seem to no matter how old they get!

luvmykids replied:
How true! rolling_smile.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Emilie is 2 1/2 and still does it. Her new thing is trying to put bath toys where they aren't supposed to go.

We don't pay too much attention to it... but if we cath them touching, we ask if they need to use the bathroom - if they say no, we just tell them to remove their hand from their pants, or go do that in their rooms.
