Well, it's about time!

grapfruit replied: That is such a horrible practice. I'm glad it's gone.
msoulz replied: That is such a horrifying thing. What was the reasoning behind doing this? Apparently even some of the women in the country thought it was OK if a mother took her daughter.
tammyhopkins replied: that makes me kringe thank god they banned it totally tha tis sooo wrong
lisar replied: Thats just crazy.... I am glad they banned it. Why would they do it to begin with though?
cameragirl21 replied: the reason for doing this is so women would not enjoy sex and therefore would not be promiscuous...the act of physical intimacy (and i say this to comply with rules here as i don't know if i can keep saying the three letter word that has an e in the middle outside of the p and i board) is meant only for the man's pleasure and this was a means of keeping the women in line. i've read detailed accounts of how this is done...they often use no anesthetic and it's done as a public ceremony with a knife like the one pictured in the story or a razor blade. some girls bleed to death or die of infection...it's pure brutal bestiality if you ask me.
lisar replied: Thats just wrong. And it was meant only for the mans pleasure I bet some an came up with all that to.
amynicole21 replied: Wow! I never thought that day would come.
luvbug00 replied: I have nothing to say about this. as who am i to judge others and their cultures. Regaless of the fact that i was raised in a cuture where this is seen as wrong and cruel. I hope that this brings peace to many who feared this practice and for those whom are opposed of the ban that they find another way to practice their faith.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well I'm happy about that. It certainly sounds barbaric.
I've seen a video of that sort of "surgery", both on a female and a male. The video I saw, the "surgery" was done with a knife that looked dull, put in a fire to heat, and the hcild held down and part to be "done" sliced off or chopped off. It was more disconcerting to watch the male child done though, to be completely honest.
Calimama replied: Oh my! I'm so glad that is gone.
holley79 replied: Shows how out of sorts I am as I didn't know anything about it. I can't say barbaric because it is someone elses culture. I just hope now children coming to age are relieved they will not have to have this done to them.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: It is a sick and twisted practice BUT I am sure there are those who view curcumcision in the same light. I just hope that people pay attention to the law and it doesn't just become something even less sanitary and more horrifing than it is now....It is hard for me to understand how one could inflict that sort of pain on your child...religious practice or not!
