Well it's nice to know my taxes pay for good - services..... grrrrrrr

Hillbilly Housewife wrote: I pay a good 600$ of taxes every paycheck. You'd think that with that amount of cash coming off MY paycheck, that I'd at least get some decent employee treatment. No.

I got my termination letter.

meaning..... when my contract is up on November 7th, to consider that my last work day, and at at time I will no longer be considered an employee of the government of Canada. I told my boss about my pregnancy on the 12th. How convenient that the termination letter was dated the 13th.

Hmmm.

So now come November, I'm jobless, and my DH STILL doesn't have a decent job.

I'm so mad, I could spit. of course, it's completely legal for them to do this, because it is a contract. Ugh. My head hurts so much, I'm getting so stresses. Simply because at that time, I will only be 3 months away from my permanency in the government, and even if I get another job at another department, I will have to start my 3 years over.

Man oh man do I hope to get another job in the same building before the next couple months...who the heck is going to want to hire a pregnant woman, especially if she's just going to be taking a full year off anyways?!&?!?!?!?!?!

Mommieto2Girls replied: Ohhh that is awful, I hope you get another job where your at.Did they give you a reason for letting you go? If it's a really lousy reason maybe you could talk to a lawyer so something. I'm not sure how the law works up there but I know here in the states it's illigal to fire you for being pregnant.I hope everything works out for you.Don't get to stressed , remember it's not good for the baby. smile.gif

ashade75 replied: That really sucks!!

Bad Canadian goverment smash.gif

Good luck job hunting vibes coming your way ~~~~~~~~~~

**I always believe things happen for a reason. And maybe this is a good thing. You might find the job of your dreams with a flexible, family freindly environment***

Good luck to you. I'm sure everything will work out.

supermom replied: That really does suck. And all you were trying to do was to be honest.......that really sucks!!

Hugs to you and hoping you find something you like soon

Schnoogly replied: Oh yeah, that's why I was asking why you were telling your boss right away. I am just cynical & suspicious!!! Good luck--maybe there is some seasonal work you can do!

MommyToAshley replied: That sucks!! Bad Canadian Govt! smash.gif

Well, maybe you can turn this into something positive? Is it possible to do more with your Mary Kay business? Mabye you can get it going so that you can do that and have flexible hours and have more time at home with Zach and the baby?

Hillbilly Housewife replied: That's what I'm hoping to do!! smile.gif It just sucks, I wasn't intending to lose my job come November. dry.gif

Insanemomof3 replied: Isn't it illegal for them to do that to a preggo woman? I know it is here...just curious.

Hope you find something soon!

booey2 replied: Sorry to hear this, my future sister in law just had this happen to her before christmas. They had to move into her parents home. I think here that with a contract job once it is up they can refuse renewl for any reason. sad.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Technically, yes, but not really. Because it is a term contract, when i started working here, I knew that the end date of my contract was November 7th. Therefore, by them not renewing my contract, they aren't breaking any law. They are not doing it beause I'm preggo....the only thing they DID do because I was preggo is they gave me my letter early, so that I wouldn't be stuck in August trying to find a job. They gave me a few months head start, to start setting myself up for something else now.

So I guess it was good of them on THEIR part to give it to me NOW instead of 3 months from now... lol but I'm still pissed off.

I know they aren't doing it because I'm pregers, because we just had a staffing freeze, and now that our budget is so low, they have to cut where they can. Since I'm erplacing someone on Maternity leave, she is coming back just when I leave, and the other girl I work with, her position is being abolished - they are merging the 2 jobs. We are a bunch of us who this is happening to, so it's not a personal thing against me.

supermom replied: Well, at least you know it isn't personal, but it still sucks that it had to happen at such a bad time for you. Hopefully your DH will be able to find something before the baby gets here and you will be able to take a longer maternity leave this time....I'll be crossing my fingers for you!

CantWait replied: Sorry to hear that the job isn't renewable. Hopefully you'll be able to find something else, and dh will find something also.

I know it still sucks huge though.
