Went to the ER last night..... - We are OK =)
punkeemunkee'smom wrote: I was having some low lying crampy feelings all day yesterday. I took it pretty easy but around 4 they turned into a steady ache that seriously felt like I was going to start my period I called my OB and they said to come in to the hospital as my doctor was there with 3 deliveries in progress. Bill got home and we went. First of all everything is fine. They did term it to be pre-term labor contractions but the baby is not head down, very active, and showing nothing more than irritation at being pushed on He said I was a little dehydrated (I have had a cold) and that I had probably over done it, I need to be aware of small pains and when they happen I need to chill out, put my feet up for a solid hour and drink lots of water. He said that *ONCE AGAIN* this fibroid will cause pain that I am not used to and she seems to like to kick in that direction and is probably irritating that side of my uterus.
Now my gripe....my nurse was HORRIBLE!!!!!!! She said to me that they had been busy and then said that 'YOU people need to take up some new hobbies...knitting,sewing,caligraphy....Do you have nothing better to do than have a baby?' And that she was writting to Congress and asking they pass a ban on multiple births like China... Yeah I will be on the phone with someone today. WTH gives you the right to make such a comment. Then when they could not find Teagan's heartbeat (she was looking on my rib cage) she said 'Well you have had a MC....Maybe that is what this is.' OMG! We could feel her moving! They would not let Taylor or Bill in with me because they said they are closed to visitors when you are being observed.....I was really upset that she was such a witch.
O well...Thank God that Teagan is OK. Please don't tell me how I will probably end up on bed rest-I heard that from nurse sunshine too and I am trying to stay as positive as I can right now by just following his directives to rest and take things in short spurts. Prayers are always welcome
lovemy2 replied: OH NO Abbie - thank god everything and everyone is ok - I would definately make a call about that woman - she shoudl not be a nurse let alone an OB nurse - goodness....I had the same problems (no fibroid) with Olivia - preterm labor started about 24 weeks - and guess what - she was TWO WEEKS LATE - but I did end up out of work - not on strict bed rest but I couldn't do much - if I did I knew it - so listen to your body and rest - seeing as though you have another on the way it will be the last time you do for awhile
and still prayers for baby bean and you....
MommyToAshley replied: Oh gosh, that must have been scary and it sounds like nurse sunshine didn't help things. I am so relieved and glad that you and Teagan are both doing ok. Now, (in my Mommy voice) I know you don't want to go on bedrest, but you need to take it easy and gets lots of rest. Even if you are not feeling any pain, I want you to rest rest rest. I may just have to fly there myself and make sure that you do.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: What a wonderful nurse She was not very nice to you!
Mommy2Isabella replied: I had preterm labor issues with both of my babies. Isabella I had preterm labor what seemed like everyother day! Isaia, well, he was born at 35 weeks.
I think listening to your body is going to be KEY for you in this last leg of your pregnancy. I am sorry you had such a "Sunshiny" nurse. Hope you are feeling better today!!
Danalana replied: I'm so glad everything is fine! I can't even imagine a nurse like that...what the heck?! I'd definitely call about her today. If this is her normal disposition, she doesn't need to be working with expectant mothers. Maybe let her work with people who are in drug rages..."Do you people not have anything to do except drugs?! You're probably dying now..."
Our Lil' Family replied: OMG!!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe the things she told you! Yep, a long letter or call to someone is necessary! Sorry to hear you had a scare but so glad Ms. Teagan is okay.
amymom replied: Oh Abbie, Our prayers continue.
OMG that nurse, she is something else.
lisar replied: OMG. I would be on the phone all day till that nurse was fired. That was so wrong of her. And I am so happy that you and baby are just fine
Kaitlin'smom replied: glad your ok and phewy on that so called nurse
My2Beauties replied: Ok first of all the audacity of that...I won't even call her a nurse...what a WITCH with a "B"! Anywhoo - I'm so glad you and Teagan are doing ok (BTW I adore that name, it was on my list of names with both of my kids, I think it's so adorable) and I'm hoping that she lays off the fibroid! LOL! Also, I know you don't wanna hear it but take it easy, get a lot of rest, drink lots of water, and let your DH spoil you for the rest of your pregnancy (well maybe the last part was a good one to hear ).
Jackie012007 replied: WOW - somebody needs a new PROFESSION. What a witch!
I had preterm labor with Carly at around 22 weeks - did they give you Brethine or anything for it? I ended up getting Brethine in my iV and it slowed things down very quickly. Its so scary though, glad you and baby are okay!
CantWait replied: Omgosh girl, take it easy. I'm glad you and Teagan are alright.
As for that *&^%$ I really hope you follow through and report her. I wouldn't want to take the chance of her being your l&d nurse, or anyone else's for that matter.
gr33n3y3z replied: It seems like nurse sunshine needs a kick in the @&* and and her mouth wired shut what a real B*)^h she was I would so write a report up on her for that.
I'm so glad you and baby are well
kimberley replied: call her superior and have her fired!!! that is beyond rude and completely unprofessional!! sorry that happened to you.
keep ur feet up! p&pt that everything continues to go well.
A&A'smommy replied: oh no first of all I'm SO glad you two are ok!!! Secondly what a witch did you call and complain about her?
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I did call and complain but being New Year's eve I don't think I was being listened to I have another call into the hospital administration as well as the billing department and the advocacy department. A fried of mine who worked at a hospital for years said the fastest way to get them to listen is say you are going to dispute the charges because of unprofessional or substandard care. The more I have thought about what she said the more angry I become....
Thank you for all the prayers and PTs! I am doing fine. She is still moving like she is having a dance party in there and I am being very aware of the little pulls and twinges and taking as easy as possible!
Christine~ Thank you for the story It made me feel TONS better! I have been in a bit of a panic mode about her staying put for NO less than the next 8 weeks!!!
HuskerMom replied: I'm glad you both are ok!
What a horrible nurse! You're probably not the first person she's been a witch too. Hopefully the hospital has gotten complaints about her before.
redchief replied: Don't just say it, Abbie, make a formal complaint of unprofessional care! There is no way, no how any hospital professional should ever speak that way to a patient or anyone else. Even when we brought in drunks our ER staff was more polite. There's no way I'd sit still for that kind of treatment!
Mommy2BAK replied: um, missy you did NOT tell me about this. I always ask you on text msgs if the pregnancy is going alright! I could have been praying. Well anyhow I am so glad everything is alright!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Ummm...I forgot to mention it! Everything is OK now so I figured I would tell you on the next day you did not have enough going onto worry about-you know when I call you to tell you she is here....in May!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: OMG I can not believe she said that to you! Dh says that you should call and complain about her big time, and then call the news too. That woman has no business being a nurse!
I'm glad you and baby are ok - take it easy now!
