We're Home!!!
my2monkeyboys wrote: First off, I want to apologize to Shawna -- my phone battery was apparently about dead when I messaged you and I didn't realize it, so I didn't know you had called until just a little while ago when I decided to use it to take a picture. I'm so sorry!!! Now for the update...
We got home today around 2:00... and we're so happy to here!!! I feel so much better just being able to be in my own home, not in that ol' hospital room! Waylon is doing great, though we are having a small issue with BF. I am trying to download some pix but my computer is acting up (again!) so it might be a little while. Sorry!!
We had a textbook-perfect c-section, and so far everything is going great. I went in the OR at 9:48, and at 10:14 he was born, kicking and screaming. After a brief time in recovery I was sent to my room and he arrived within just a few minutes, after they bathed him and what-not. Will was just floored by him -- he can't seem to get enough of him or of helping me with him, though I almost wish he'd want to ignore him a little, if you know what I mean. I have a great picture of Will just beaming at him when Waylon was brought out of delivery -- it's just such a cute picture.
Waylon does have a little rash on his stomach that we're treating with cortizone cream, but his dr. says it's a common rash that newborns get and it should clear up without a problem.
He is doing pretty decent with BF, though we're working on the latching position bc I've got a few little blisters right now. The only real weird problem we're having is that I started having to use a little formula dripped onto my nipples to get him to actually latch on. The LC there said that is not uncommon, and that it is just showing that he's ready for my milk to come in, that he's just not really satisfied with the colostrum anymore. So, we're hoping that will happen quickly. I also have to wake him up every 3 hours to feed him. Last night he actually went almost 5 before he woke up on his own! I know that's not good for him, but I kept waiting, thinking any minute now he'll wake up screaming... I ended up waking him up myself. The nursery nurse didn't seem really concerned, said that he was probably just exhausted and since he'd been eating/pooping/wetting well all day he was just taking a break and resting up. I however was not so relaxed feeling about it, so I've just been waking him about every 3 hours to eat, though he actually eats more if I wait closer to 3 1/2-4. I feel we're doing ok though, otherwise.
I feel pretty good, as long as I take my motrin! I think we'll all sleep pretty good tonight, being in our own beds! I can't wait!!! Just the thought of sleeping without having someone come in and take your blood pressure or temp every 2 hours is just exciting!
I will try to get these pix done tomorrow -- I'm a bit worn out now. Thanks for all the well-wishes! And thank you, too, Shawna for being my call buddy!!
