We're home - from the hospital...
DillsMommy wrote: So Friday night we ended up back in the ER. We had been giving Peyton his breathing treatments all day every 4 hours, but they didn't seem to be helping, then around 8 p.m. he started breathing a lot heavier and faster, which they said to come back immediately if that happened. When we got there they did the normal check and decided to admit him. I was actually really hoping they would. I just wanted him to be with people who knew what they were doing. They deep suctioned him every couple hours. (anybody who has had a child go through that--knows it's one of the worst experiences EVER.) I think I cried just as much as he did. That night his O2 dropped in the 80's so they put him on oxygen. And the next day he was starting to dehydrate so the tried to give him an IV-- sticking him 6 times and still couldn't get it!! Fortunately he started eating again, not as much as normal but enough that they decided to hold off on the IV all together. And then pretty much from that point on he started getting better. Started eating more and his O2 went back up. So today we got to come home around 3. He's still a little congested in his nose but they said thats normal.
Thanks again guys for all the thoughts, hugs and prayers!
luvmykids replied: I feel so bad for all of you! It never got that bad here but I can imagine how scary that would be. I think you're right though, when they're that sick you want them with people who have seen it before and know when something is ok or not, etc...
I'm glad you're home, hope you guys all get some rest and lots of p&pt's for a quick recovery!
AlexsPajamaMama replied: That does sound scary I'm with you on wanting him with people who know what they're and whats really going on. Glad to hear he is doing better now. Hugs for you and for Peyton
boyohboyohboy replied: oh my! i do know how you feel. i have been there with a much older baby then you have, so i cant imagine how hard it was with someone as old as your son.. i am so sorry for you, and i hate to see anyone suctioned, so i also know how hard that is.. please know you are all in my prayers. i hope its finally coming to an end and he is better soon. poor guy. i hope he is sleeping a lot. the good news is he wont remember this, and they are much more resiliant then we are... hang in there
redchief replied: I'm glad he's better, and really glad you didn't wait longer to take him in to the ER. It's so difficult to have a child sick over the holidays. I'm glad he responded so well to treatment. I'll keep you all in my prayers.
DillsMommy replied: That's exactly what I thought--at least he won't remember any of it.
What a way to end a year huh? Hopefully 2008 will be a little better. I'm still trying to figure out how my life got so stressful. Just been a rough week I guess. And Dylans just getting over strep throat.
Calimama replied: I'm glad he's doing better. It's so scary when they get sick, especially when they are as young as he is.
amynicole21 replied: Oh man, that sounds awful I'm so sorry. I'm glad you guys are home now.
Danalana replied: Oh gosh, I'm so glad he's doing better!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: What an awful experience. It's so hard to see our babies sick. I do hope the treatments help and he is on his way to recovery soon.
gr33n3y3z replied: I'm glad he is much better now
PrairieMom replied: That is one of the things I end up doing a lot in my job. I hate doing that to those poor babies. I do what ever I can to get out of it.
