What age to trick or treat for first time

Heather replied: Though I am really not sure, I said 3.
MomToMany replied: We'll be taking Hannah trick-or-treating this year, but won't let her have the candy (well, maybe one piece).
supermom replied: We just made sure that we didn't let Anders have all the candy all at once. He went both years, this is his third Halloween. He's already been talking about it for more than a month now - it's funny. He really UNDERSTANDS this year what trick-or-treat is all about (at least the getting candy part) and it's going to be hard to convince him to wait until we can look over the candy before he gets any.
dolfinrse replied: We are taking Zack trick or treating. Obviously he can't have anything, but we wanted to celebrate his first Halloween. He is going to be a Devil. We bought the outfit at the local halloween store.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: We have always taken Maddie trick or treating along with my nephew who is 2 years older. We have never given her the candy. She never gets very much anyway...we just go to the neighbors to show her off. Last year she was 2 and REALLY enjoyed it. I think that is a good age. And she has been looking forward to it this year for months so I know she will enjoy it this year.
paradisemommy replied: we aren't going to take taven until he can say "trick or treat"..sooooooo maybe next year when he is 2..
Kaitlin'smom replied: not sure. I am not going to this year I know that. She is to young wont really understand and she cant eat the candy. So maybe next year dunno, so that would put her close to 2 years old and even then I am not sure if I will go then, but eventually.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Claudia doesn't really have a choice this year. Her older brother and sister will be trick or treating and taking her out with them!
3xsthefun replied: I think Kaitlynn was 8 months old when we first took her. We'll actually we didn't go to any houses. Except for people that we knew. We went to one of my aunt's houses, hubby's parents house and my parents houses. I think they gave her cookies for babies.
She went out trick or treating for candy was, when she was 1 and 1/2 years old. We only gave her baby she could eat though. Which wasn't very much.
chloe&tysmommy replied: we took Chloe out last year and she'll go out this year too, we live in the country so we just take her to a few neighbours- basically to show her off....and mommy and daddy enjoy the candy for her
Hillbilly Housewife replied: We didn't take him out last year, but he had a costume, and we had a little party in our house with family.
This year, we're SOOO going out! heh heh!
