What are the worst things that you or someone else - bought for your child?

maestra wrote: Jaci's was definately the Take along swing. It didn't rock hard enough, always ended up loosing it's gears and would make Jaci mad. I ended up taking it to a re-sale store in exchange for some baby clothes.

Take along swing

supermom replied: I am glad to hear that, was looking at one on EBay, and since Anders was so big, they kind of expect this one to be big too. Thought this one would be good to take to work and could put the new on on my desk, but if it doesn't work too good, guess we'll just bring the biggie one like last time smile.gif

supermom replied: Oh, and someone had bought us a really fancy diaper bag (I think it was Fisher Price) with room to put all kinds of stuff (almost like a kiddie suitcase, actually) which was really the only thing we used it for because it was too big and bulky to carry around for any short trip. We do (occasionally) use it for long trips because we can fit the small bottles of baby bath, lotion, powder, etc, etc in it. But, Anders is 3 YO and it almost looks new (which is more than I can say for the other two diaper bags we got from the hospital!).....lol

MommyToAshley replied: I would have to say the Diaper Champ. It is like the Diaper Genie but it doesn't use special bags. It keeps getting the diapers caught in it. The DH says it is because I don't roll them up tight enough, but any tighter and I'd squeeze the poop out of them.

I am about to throw the darn thing out the window! smash.gif

Ahhh...that felt good to get that off my chest. LOL rolling_smile.gif

paradisemommy replied: I think I'd second the Take along swing. The swing says it's for up to 20 #s (I think) but I swear even when he was around 10 #s, the thing would barely rock.

And a close second would be baby bottles - the cheap generic ones with like mickey mouse and winnie the pooh on them - we went through a ton of bottles looking for the one he would take occassionally because I am breastfeeding. He started off not wanting any bottle for a good 6 months..you had to trick him to take it and that was once in a blue moon smile.gif I didn't even use any of the bottles that were given to me through showers...

Kaitlin'smom replied: humm I have the take along swing and it works great! when the boucer is at the stitters she uses it. She loves the bouncer more but the take along swing is a good backup!

as for the worst thing bought would have to be the bottles! She just wont have ANYTHING to do with them, oh and thoes nightgowns. I hated them they always bunched up and never stayed down, and hard as heck to put on! Got rid of them after the first try! mad.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well Zach loves it, and I DON'T. It's this little Sesame Street Guitar thing, and it is LOUD. Zach LOVES to press the buttons on it, and I'm tempted to take the batteries out....but he loves it soooo much.

The sacrifices my poor little ears endure for my baby's joy...

*sigh*

MommyToAshley replied:
LOL! Does the person that bought it for you have kids?? You can always get revenge at Christmas time! LOL rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

supermom replied: LOL - Anders has the Guitar, the Sax and the Piano - we got them for him - giggle -

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Yes, yes they do. The guitar was payback for the toy drum set we got their son last X-mas....

The War of the noisiest toys is ON!

momofajcl replied:
I'll have to agree about the bottles! LOL! I thought third time's a charm and Nicholas would take a bottle now and again, but NOPE! LOL! Oh well!

Another bad thing was when Andrew was 3 a friend bought him a car that you push and it goes on it's own for a while...it is really, really loud and Andrew LOVED it! It was his most-favorite toy! LOL! rolleyes.gif

ediep replied: I would have to say the snugli baby carrier. It is that harness carrier like the baby bjiorn, but it sucks!! The buckles are all in the back so you have to have someone behind you to adjust it. I could not get it on or off alone.

I never used it

Schnoogly replied: I don't have much that I don't like--I second the nightgowns though--impossible to get them on!! Sleepers are way better.

We bought an arms reach co-sleeper but he slept in it less than 5 times--wants to be right next to me!! Now it holds my water bottle, extra diapers, my glasses, etc. Anyone want to buy it off me?? It's really nice--natural color, universal model (fits short beds like futons) and comes with 5 sheets. biggrin.gif

And we only used the travel system once--when Iain came home from surgery. He's big enough to sit in the stroller now (only used that once so far though) and he hates his catseat. So I wish we had bought the seat only and saved some money.gif !! He much prefers the sling or baby bjorn.

I also bought lots of different diaper covers that didn't work very well or didn't fit right. (Most off ebay so not very expensive)

MommyToAshley replied: Ashley loved the gowns versus the sleepers. She loved to have the ability to kick her feet. LOL. Guess it depends on the child. Oh, and it made it sooo much easier to change her in the middle of the night when she was smaller.

ediep replied: we used those gowns too wne Jason was really small. I thought they were nice and easy to change him and he didn't mind wearing them.

Insanemomof3 replied: I would have to say that the worst thing was a telephone that rings and then plays a song REALLY loud. Tristan stands on it and makes it play over and over and over and over again! It is annoying. His grandparents got him that for his first birthday...it is his favorite toy. And the worst part is...the ring sounds just like OUR real phone. So I will jump to answer the phone until I hear the music. I hate that toy.

MommyToAshley replied:
LOL -- I have this picture of you jumping to answer the phone everytime Tristan plays with it! hehehe rolling_smile.gif
