What are you having for Christmas dinner?
luvmykids wrote: This year I'm taking the New Mexican route....tamales, posole, beans, chile, enchiladas....We had three turkey dinners within three weeks and with another open house type of arrangement on Christmas Day I just decided to go the easy route Thats very typical Christmas Eve fare around here but I'm going out of the box and doing it Christmas Day
Nina J replied: Most likely I'll eat to much. We always have turkey, ham, chicken, vegetables (roast potato, carrots, peas), Christmas pudding...then there's the bowls of chocolate that sit on the table, the nuts, to much candy, not enought time to eat it all. Oh and potato chips, salt and vinegar chips.
I love Christmas dinner.
CantWait replied: Ummmm Ummmm can I come Monica, that sounds so good.
We're having dinner either on the 24th or the 25th, probably the 24th which means ieks, tomorrow We'll have turkey, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, carrots, corn, roasted celery, stuffing, and bread. Very tradional.
On Christmas I'll probably make a roast in the crock pot with much of the same vegetables.
I like to break it up so I can enjoy watching the kids with their new presents on Christmas Day.
sparkys2boys replied: TURKEY!!!!Mmmmm..lol!!! I will be cooking a monster turkey on the 25th for us, my parents and grandfather. Turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoe's, gravy, carrots, turnip, cranberry sauce, homemade rolls, and then for dessert i'm not sure yet. But I will have a plate of squares and cookies out along with the chocolates, candy, mixed nuts, chips.. and so on!!! It's my favorite meal ever to cook!!I can't wait to get up at 4am and start cooking the turkey..lol!!!I know, i'm a nut!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: We're having Roasted Turkey, Roasted Duck, stuffing, meatballs, meat pie, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, caesar salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw (sp?) some fresh baked buns, fresh baked crescents, and for desert, a double chocolate cheesecake I made. Maybe some steamed baby carrots.
Before dinner, we're going to be having Martinis, some fresh veggies and dip, cheese and crackers, baguette bread with paté and soft cheese, and other Holiday drinks like Eggnog with rum...
Not to mention the 5 different kinds of cookies I baked this week, and maybe some Sugar pie and apple pie...depends if I feel like making them or not. If I have time. DH and his dad are upstairs right now finishing tearing out the other half of our bedroom carpet and installing the floor... we did half last night... and when dh and I switch off for the kids in about an hour or so, I'll see how far along they got, and be able to judge from there.
These are the times I'm grateful for Marla and her team at FlyLady.
gr33n3y3z replied: Ham yummm its my Fav.
moped replied: This year it is just us so we are having steak and lobster
coasterqueen replied: I'm all about tradition, so I am making for Christmas Eve dinner:
Turkey Dressing Mashed potatoes Gravy Rolls Chicken and Noodle Green bean casserole Baked cream corn Mac n' cheese (for the kids) Sweet potatoes Cranberry sauce
Hors d'eouvres will be shrimp coctail, anti-pasta (sp?), vegetable tray, and marachino cherries (Dh's family loves those things)
For dessert I'm making a home-made apple pie, pumpkin pie, banana cream pie and a cheesecake.
I think I recalled everything. We are attempting to make everything from scratch and at least 3/4 of it will be organic.
msoulz replied: Honeybaked ham, some kind of vegetable, rolls, cheesy potatoes, jello salad, pie and cookies. And maybe some stuffed cabbage and peirogi (sp?) for the Polish great-grannie. It'll be delightful, whatever the final product!!!
Kentuckychick replied: We usually conglomerate at my aunts house on Christmas Eve and have honey baked ham, turkey, potato salad, and all the fixins there. Then, on Christmas we are lazy... I'm talking last year we ate SONIC for dinner! Or we have soup or leftovers... we're all typically too tired to go all out.
Cece00 replied: I'm not cooking!!!! So really, I am not 100% sure.
I know we're doing the ham/turkey thing on Christmas Day with my parents, and I think I heard chili for Christmas Eve lunch...not sure about @ my inlaws on Christmas Eve night...and we do brunch with my inlaws on Christmas day, so I know there will be breakfast type stuff..my fave is "S**t on a Shingle"- has anyone heard of that before?? Its AWESOME.
