What are your kids asking for so far - for xmas?
mckayleesmom wrote: So far Russell just wants a bunch of batman stuff and Mckaylee keeps talking about this cupcake decorator thing...which we looked at the other day at Walmart and it looks like alot of work for ME...
stella6979 replied: Avery is at the age now where she wants EVERYTHING she sees on tv.
mckayleesmom replied: That stage doesn't end either...it just gets worse
Crystalina replied: Everything. And what irks me is they play with nothing!! Izabella made out her list 2 weeks ago. We told her to hang onto it because Santa was not accepting letters before Thanksgiving. She listed all sorts of toys on her list and the one she was nice enough to help Evan make ( ) and neither of them even play with toys. Evan may get out his Thomas train set and watch it go around a few times but that's it. Izabella will ask for a doll/toy for but when she gets it.....nothing. They are too into going outside on the 4-wheeler or doing something else. I hate for Santa to bring toys for them just because they asked for it. What a waste. They are more into clothes and crafty type things.
msoulz replied: LOL, my almost 10 year old just commented the other day how when he was "little" he wanted everything he saw on TV. Now he only wants some of what he sees . . .
Speaking of him, he wants a cell phone and a PS3. So now I wish he was back in the days where he wanted the cheap plastic toys he saw on TV.
BTW he is NOT getting a cell phone. He may get the PS3 because Dad wants one too . . .
stella6979 replied: Oh, I don't doubt you at all. She's actually a pretty diverse person and likes all kinds of things....mostly dinosaurs, so she'll definitely be getting a few new ones. I also plan on getting her a couple Barbies, some of those Little Pet Shop things and a toolbench. LOL! She is really into hammering and screwing things in.
cameragirl21 replied: I know in this economy money is tight for pretty much everyone so my suggestion may seem out of left field under the circumstances but maybe you could ask the kids to gather up all the toys they got for Christmases and bdays past that they don't play with but still look nice and take them to a women's shelter or place for underprivileged kids and have your kids give those kids the toys and thell them that they are playing the part of Santa Claus for those kids...that Santa called you and asked you if your kids could be his little helpers this year. And then tell them that those kids will really play with the toys and your kids really don't so this year Santa asked them only to ask for toys they will play with so he can give the other toys they want but never play with to kids who will play with them. I realize at their age they think that they will play with everything they ask for but maybe this will help to encourage them to really think about each thing they ask for and to think about underprivileged kids that Santa won't be visiting so that at a minimum they put some thought into what they ask for and are grateful for what they have.
My2Beauties replied: Hanna is really stuck on those water babies...but her b'day is in Nov so I'll probably get her one of those for her b'day and then think of something else for Christmas. Aubrey could care less.... She has no clue what Christmas is and I'd like to keep it that way for at least this year Des wants an iPod, of course her b'day is in Nov too (same day as Hanna) so she'll probably get that for her b'day and I have no clue what for Christmas.
My b'day is Saturday - I want an iPod too....
Crystalina replied: Ok, let me just share with you some of the things on Evan's revised list (as of this past weekend).
A set of Green bags. (Yes, those Green bags) A tube of silicone A caulking gun to squeeze the silicone out. Aqua Globes (yep, the ones to water your plants) A tape measure And whatever in the heck Billy Mays endorses.
Evan is an 'As Seen On T.V.' junkie.
stella6979 replied: That is HILARIOUS!!!
Crystalina replied: That is a good idea Jennifer. I have loaded all sorts of things up and given them to the Salvation Army and also to people who are having yard sales (for the money rather then getting rid of things) so they can make money off of it. For Christmas though most places want things unwrapped and still in the box or whatever package it's sold in. At least that's how it is when I go to donate. I can't wrap or open it.
mckayleesmom replied: So is Mckaylee....she is always running in to tell me an AS SEEN ON TV commercial she has seen and at the end she always ads "but mom, if you don't like it, they will give you your money back guaranteed"...
Leithan said she is never getting a credit card.
cameragirl21 replied: well, the idea is to get the kids involved, to have them actually hand their toys to other kids who really need them. I wouldn't make it part of any existing program...I'd just call various shelters and other such organizations and explain what you want to do and ask if you can come with your kids to do it. I especially like the idea of telling the kids that Santa called you to tell you he can't visit those kids this year so he needs your kids to be his helpers. That way they can get excited about Santa calling them and choosing them to be his helpers but also understand that Santa can't visit everyone, kwim, and that they should be very grateful for what they have.
Crystalina replied: OMG, he saw the PedEgg at Wal-Mart yesterday and the boy flipped his lid! He wanted it sooo bad but I just couldn't see getting it for him. What would he do with it?
Crystalina replied: Evan always tells me, "But if you order within the next 5 minutes you get 2!!!!!"
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley hasn't asked for anything. We were in the store the other day and she says, "Mommy, look, they have Christmas decorations up and it isn't even Halloween yet" -- I have to agree with her. It's too early to think about Christmas.
luvbug00 replied: mya is desperate for a cell phone.. DESPERATE. but it's not happening. not until she is 18. ok, ok maybe 15. But not at 8! forget it! She also wants a pony...yeah right she wants an ipod.. maybe a shuffle she wants a kitten..also a maybe
so two realistic out of 4 aint bad.
cameragirl21 replied: didn't you say before she is deathly allergic to cats? So am I and getting a cat helped a lot, I am no longer allergic but I see all too often that kids have to give up their pets because they're so allergic. I got my gorgeous blue point Himmy due to someone's allergies and one little girl had to give her up, the cat was hers.
luvbug00 replied: she is but i feel bad denying her a pet. so i might give in.
cameragirl21 replied: Nadia, I realize this is none of my business so feel free to tell my to myob but if you buy her a pet that she is allergic to, chances are you guys will have to give up that pet and that is traumatic both for the kids and pets involved...pets don't like being moved to a new home as they get attached too. Why not get her something she is not allergic to, like a rabbit or a hamster or ferret, assuming she's not allergic to those. Or what about a small dog?
Jamison'smama replied: My kids are as seen on TV junkies as well......we have the "Pancake Puff" pan and we have Mighty Putty! Jamison wants me to get the purse with all the pockets, I forget the name but she remembers. It seems like those commercials are on Toon Disney/ Jetex...is that where you see them?
PrairieMom replied: Ben wants a remote control Mario. anyone seen anything like one? did you know Santa can make ANYTHING? well... someone is going to be disappointed.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: My kids this year want a video game system. They don't like the Wii so I am looking into getting a PS2 or PS3. Maddie would like some American Girl things, Ethan would be happy with more Legos. And it's tradition that they get pajamas.
We don't make a big deal out of gifts around here at Christmas time. Of course my kids have a list of things they would like, but as a rule we don't discuss it a lot and they know they only get three things for Christmas. Christmas to us is not about the gift receiving, but more about what we can do to give back (to our church, community, people less fortunate) as we feel we are so blessed for what Christ has given us. Traditionally we spend a lot of time as a family, baking and cooking, making Christmas crafts, etc.

Celestrina replied: A dog Not going to happen.
PrairieMom replied: O M G
Santa really CAN make anything! its not what he wants, but it may be close enough that we can explain that maybe Santa just misunderstood him. I totally bookmarked that page.
Crystalina replied: I know that purse. LOL It comes in black, red and tan. And you can fit a water bottle in there.
my2monkeyboys replied: Will wants an ipod, a tv/satellite in his room, an electric guitar/amp and a Nintendo DS. He may get one or two of those, but pretty sure not the guitar/amp!! He wants a skateboard and travel dvd player for his birthday, along with some star wars stuff. I think the grandparents may get him the dvd player and my sister's getting him a skateboard. Not sure what we're getting him.
luvbug00 replied: Jennifer, no worries , technically she is pretty much not supposed to have anything that danders, sooo hairless mole rats are really my only option next to reptiles or hermit crabs.
my2monkeyboys replied: I forgot, Will also wants an alien maker thing from Ben 10 and an easy bake oven! He said, "I know it's for girls, but I like to cook stuff, too. We don't have to tell anybody I have one."
ZandersMama replied: u can get those at walmart here, in two packs, mario and yoshi or mario and donkey kong. if you wanted i could grab it and ship it.
luvmykids replied: And did you know it doesn't matter if it's expensive? 'Cause if it comes from Santa, it's free!!!! This is what I heard from Colt when I told him he probably wouldn't get a laptop
Colt wants anything military....number one on his list is a real, working command center
Kylie wants a computer, which she might actually get, my parents have an old one that's basically not good for much other than games. She also wants clothes and jewelry
Macie doesn't know, she just wants whatever they want
PrairieMom replied: My sister is gonna get it for him. He can ask her for any off the wall thing, and she some how manages to get it for him. ( the wonders of EBAY ) He has associated it with her living in Las Vegas. He thinks it's "magical"
PrairieMom replied: You better save up for law school for that one. He makes a good point.
