What can you do to relieve that "full" feeling - after weaning

It is weird, after the first night, I did feel a little full the next morning but the next few days were fine. But, today I feel really "full". It doesn't hurt, it just feels uncomfortable. I wonder why I feel full after almost a week? Is there anything I should be doing to dry up the milk?
TIA

coasterqueen replied: I would pump to ease fullness, but don't pump til you are empty. That would signal your body to make more milk. Sometimes at this age they get so distractible that she may just be going through what is considered a nursing strike and she *may* come to you soon as ask to nurse again. So if you want to be able to do that you would want to pump til you are empty to keep your supply up. ((HUGS))
5littleladies replied: I would just pump enough to get rid of the overly full feeling. It may take a little while but the fullness should go away before too long. Just hang in there!!
aspenblue1 replied: Just wanted to send some hugs. I don't have advice I know when Isabella weaned it just took a couple days for the discomfort to go away.
kimberley replied: just wanted to give you more gentle hugs. i really don't remember a thing about when the boys weaned.
MomToMany replied: Awww...lots of hugs for you, Dee Dee!! And I agree with what Karen said; pump enough to relieve the fullness, but no more. Maybe she is just having a nursing strike or too distracted.
Just curious, would you let her nurse again if she wanted to? You don't have to answer that if you don't want to.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I'm sorry to hear that she weaned so soon! I know when my DS weaned at 15mths I was heartbroken. I remember that FULL feeling all to well and if I remember correctly it took a few weeks for my body to adjust to not breastfeeding anymore! Hope you get some relief soon!
MommyToAshley replied: Thanks for all your input and advice.
I think she has been ready to wean for quite some time. For the past few weeks, she would only nurse for a few minutes anyways. Maybe that is why she has been such a snuggle bug lately....she knew this day was coming. I had hoped to nurse her longer, but at this point, I don't think I would nurse again. I don't mind answering your question.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Here's some Dee Dee. I have been there, but Jade weaned at eight and a half months. I was ready to start again if she wanted it, but she didn't. Those first few days were very difficult cause it did really hurt. There wasn't really anything I could think of to do. I didn't have a pump so I basically lived with the feeling. You might feel full today because something could have triggered let down. For me once that first few days were done I didn't have discomfort again. The funny thing is I am still lactating. She weaned in May of last year.
Julie (jem0622) replied: Express by hand or with a hand held. Just enough to relieve yourself of that feeling. Also, put raw cabbage leaves against your bb's and under your bra. That helps too.

Kaitlin'smom replied: Awww I am sorry, I am right there with you Kaitlin is almost done also, but I have not had the full feeling yet...she will nurse every other day or two and only for a few minutes.
