What do you think about this? - Keep arguing with my friend about it..

Now I think that is BS because #1 if that was true the ER's would be flooded with people all the time with their babies, #2 my Dr. and I have also read to that breast fed babies sometimes dont go for days at a time, and I know from personal experience that was Teagan was only getting breast milk she wouldnt go some days but as soon as she got formula she would go which makes sense since its harder to digest. Anyway, she swears its true and says western medicine is completly different then us here on the east coast.
gr33n3y3z replied: I breast fed all 4 of my kids and they made a BM about 2 or 3 times a day. One of my GF children had a blockage and almost died from it.
coasterqueen replied: Some kids don't go everyday when BF that's because the body is using all the nutrients and there is no excess waste. My DD sometimes went several days and then there were others where she went several times a day.
I live in Illinois and I think your friend is WRONG. I've never had this problem and never heard this from other woman. The only crazy looney DR's I'd know who would do this is the ones who are entirely UNEDUCATED on breastfeeding..but then again that's a large portion of doctors in our country. As a mother I'd be second guessing a doctor who wanted me to do this .
BTW how did your wedding go? Didn't you get married?
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I don't know I was always told that Breastfeed babies can go up to a week without having a bowel movement. I don't think that is true and I think your friend may be misinformed!
jdkjd replied: Bailey pooped once a week for a couple months when she was an infant. When I called the Dr. they said that BM is absorbed so easily in the infant's system that sometimes there isn't any waste. And if she didn't seem uncomfortable that she was probably fine.
bucky replied: Everything I learned was that if your child goes 2-3 days without a bowel movement then you should call the doctor, I don't ever recall seeing anything about going to the ER
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Breast fed babies sometimes will go days without a stool. I read where this was normal. I was worried about Ethan not going.
kimberley replied: that is really weird that a dr would say that. even when any of my kids have been constipated and i took them to the peds, they said there was nothing they could do. just give them prune juice.
paradisemommy replied: what a crock..taven would go sometimes 4 or 5 days without having a bm when he was a baby..it used to freak me out but then i just learned that was ok and i stopped worrying..
redchief replied: BF babes (and not) do NOT have to have a bowel movement daily to be healthy. Your baby will tell you if he / she is ill (ex. fever, apparent belly pain, frequent vomiting, drastic change in bowel action).
Kaitlin'smom replied: never heard that one and kaitlin was also bf and she woudl go a couple days with out have bm and the ped said it was okay, just like others said she did not have any waste.
my question is how does the ER make them go?????
TeagansMom609 replied: Yup, I did! We got married last Weds. the 13th. It turned out nicer then I thought it would! Our honeymoon was great too. I have some pictures to post, but havent found the time yet.
My2Beauties replied: Hanna was BF for the first six weeks and she had a BM every day sometimes 3-4 times a day but the dcotors also told me in the hospital not to worry if she went a day or two without having a BM. The only time you need to call is they act like they feel incomfortable or are trying to have a BM and can't or it's super hard! I have never heard anything like this and I think your friend is cuckoo!
A&A'smommy replied: I want to see pictures lol I bet you looked beautiful!
