What do your kids call other adults?

skinkybaby wrote: Do they call them by their first names? Mr and Mrs/Miss First Name? Mr and Mrs/Miss Last Name?

Mine do a combo of the Mr and Mrs/Miss First Name and Mr and Mrs/Miss Last Name.

mckayleesmom replied: My kids call them Mr or Mrs....Last name......UNLESS they have specifically asked them to call them Mrs. first name

Boys r us replied: Well, most of the other adults my kids are in contact with are our good friends, and they just call them by first name(and those friends wouldn't want it any of ther way). As for their sports coaches, they are "Coach Smith" etc...and other children's parents are mr or mrs Smith unless otherwise noted as okay by that parent.

A&A'smommy replied: For our group of friends all the kids in the group call each other Aunt or Uncle (yeah we are weird like that tongue.gif ) except for a few and then they just call them by their first name.

For OTHER adults it really depends on who is it but most of the ones who have youngs kids we call by the first name and for the OLDER adults we call by the last name.

Same here. happy.gif Andrew's pretty young and hasn't had to call anyone else anything yet. tongue.gif I think that we'll try to teach them to call adults other than our close friends Mr and Mrs, but it's really hard for me to remember. I didn't grow up doing that - I think the only people I didn't call by their first name when I was growing up were my sunday school teachers. No one ever told me to do otherwise and being a kid I just didn't know that's what we were supposed to do. tongue.gif

Part of my problem now as an adult is I usually don't remember people's last names. blush.gif There have been a few times when I've chatted with a neighbor or we've seen them across the street and afterwords Andrew will say who's that, and I have to tell him their first name because I have no clue what their last name is. blush.gif

coasterqueen replied: Our friends they call them by their first name.

Others like the sitter or doctors (which Megan seems to see alot of wacko.gif ) we call them Miss, Mr. and then their first name. Megan likes to call her ped doc Dr. L (L is the beginning of his last name). tongue.gif

Their sitter they still call her Ms. Terri.

PrairieMom replied: Mine call them Miss first name. I guess I just started saying it that way and things caught on. Acutally, even Ben's teachers call them selves that way.

Jamison'smama replied: our close friends---ones we knew before the kids were born are Miss Ellen or Miss Kathy, our neighbors and their friend's parents are Mrs. Smith etc.

jcc64 replied: By first names, unless they are casual acquaintences, in which case it's Mr or Mrs. Coaches always Coach Smith, etc.

Teesa®© replied: The majority of the adults my children come in contact with are teachers so they're all Mr., Mrs. or Ms.

Then we have Grandma and Grandpa, Grandma Oma and Grandpa Opa, and we don't really have a name yet for my Mom. So far, they've been calling her Ummy's Ummy, but not to her. They just say Hi! and go play, lol.

DH's nephews and nieces are older, so they don't say Aunt and Uncle. I try to instill that into my children.

Any other adult my children have come in contact with have been labeled, Ashley's Mom or Joshua's Dad, etc [their school friends' parents] or Dr.

Same here.

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: That's a good question. I never thought much about this until Sammy's 3rd bday party back in November. A very good friend of mine that I've known since highschool, Courtney. She was at the party with her twin boys who are amost 2 yrs older than Sammy. She was referring to me as Mrs. ________. Then I felt kind of bad because I'd been referring to her as Courntey and thought maybe I should have been more formal. But, the more I think about it,,,, I just cant imagine my kids calling a really good friend of mine Mrs. ______. Maybe Miss Courtney, like PrairieMom said.

They do refer to their pediatrician as Dr. __, but that's because WE refer to her that way. Once they start school, I know they'd refer to their teachers and coaches as Mrs. ___________ and Coach __. But again, that is how we'd refer to them.

Ditto

Cece00 replied: For most adults we know, my kids call them by their first names. Their kids call us by our first names too.
