kayla's mama wrote: Just curious what type of jobs your DH/SO have.

My DH is a Grocery Manager. Works crazy retail hours wacko.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: My honey hauls cattle and we own a truck dispatching company! He works LOOOONG crazy hours too! wub.gif

PrairieMom replied: mine owns his own business as a web developer and makes webpages. also CRAZY long hours.

holley79 replied: Dh works Logs and Records for a big Aviation company here in Pensacola. He works normal hours. rolling_smile.gif

Celestrina replied: Steve works in the car loan division in a major bank. He gets to deal with car dealerships all day.

1lilpeanut2love replied: My fiance is a Union Electrician. He commutes 90 miles to work and 90 miles back home. Crazy?!? But, that is where all of the money is. He is in his last year in apprenticeship school, then he will be making lots more money.

CAMSMOM1 replied: Justin is the manager of national automotive repair shop. I'm sure you've seen their commericials on t.v. He works from 7:00am-6:00pm. But I love the perks with his company. If his shop sells a certain amount of brakes or shocks for example, he will win gift certificates to resturants, Best Buy, ect. He also gets bonus checks twice a month. He gets 2 weeks paid vacation, but next year he'll get 3 wks vacation. And I get my car worked on for free! That's the best perk! The downside is he has to work every Saturday, so he misses out on family gatherings.

mckayleesmom replied: Mine is in the Army

CantWait replied: DH is an electrician in the military.

luvmykids replied: DH is a contractor, mostly commercial.

TeagansMom609 replied: DH is a Content Writer for a worldwide internet based auto parts company.

Bee_Kay replied: Mine is a Quality Contol Inspector.
Requires some traveling (which he doesn't much care for, but he likes getting away from the cold weather) smile.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: Lets see
If I forget something he will let you know lol

He has a plumbing business with his Dad
He also is an EMT full time
He teaches as a Fire Instructor

Non paying jobs
Fire Chief
CCD Teacher
Haz Mat

My3LilMonkeys replied: My DH works for a paperback book plant - he does a variety of jobs there, but mainly drives a forktruck.

I'm not big on the hours (evenings until midnight) but it means he is home with the kids while I am working. Plus I get lots of free 'reject' books! tongue.gif

salmndr007 replied: Well, since Jess is on bedrest for a while, I am trying to get a scrapbooking business set up for her. It seems like it is taking forever just to get the information and get everything figured out. I think when we do get it started that it will be great though. It will give her something to do at home so she is not so bored.

I have a question...how many SAHMs on here have home based businesses? If any, what kind of business do you have?

MamaJAM replied: My DH is a software engineer...in buisness for himself - so there are sometimes odd hours.
He's also a teacher at the Hebrew High for our synagogue.

luvmykids replied:
I don't anymore but when DH started his contracting business I ran the office from home. We have a "real" office/staff now, but I still have to do some stuff, I try to do it at night. It was easy when the twins were little b/c they slept so much and just looked around the rest of the time. Now I don't think I could do it! But I love scrapbooking and since she would basically be able to set her own hours I say go for it!

3xsthefun replied: My DH is a Mechanical Technician.

Before that he was a Welder for the company he works for, but the they offered him the position he has now. He seems to like it alot better. He is making better money now, then he was when he was welder.

He also does a few odd jobs, when people needs his help with welding stuff, or working on trucks.

lesliesmom replied: My husband is an Assistant Director of Operations for a company that produces/airs traffic reports on the radio. He is in charge of scheduling, payroll and often appears on the radio giving those reports. He also produces the traffic segments for one of the local morning news shows on TV. His hours are crazy. His day starts at 3:45 am and generally he's not home until after 7....

C&K*s Mommie replied: I do not work from home. But the wife of Chris' finance manager does, she creates personalized gift baskets for people. The one she made for me can be found in the 'what did you get for V-day?' post. She made one for my BIL for Christmas, it was a Seminole trash can filled with all kinds of Seminole items. She is not making much money.gif profit now, because it is still pretty young. But business is coming in pretty steady still.

My DH wub.gif works in auto sales, he also works looonnnngggg hours. Especially this week when they are having a big sale going on. In the summer & fall months the hours will increase as traffic picks up with the warmer weather.

luvbug00 replied: Brad does mailroom stuff for a local electronic company.

I do. I have a dog clothing company B&B couture. That I will get set up on the net soon.

mom21kid2dogs replied: He's an Probate/Real EState Attorney. He also teaches a REal EState Law class at a local college.

I sell on EBay when I get the chance but that's all I do to generate income (well, until I win the HGTV Dream House! cool.gif )

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: My DH is a Foreman for a road construction company.

DLR-DKR~ Mommy replied: My SO is a Body shop Advisor for Lazy Days RV. Fancy word for Estimator. When people wreck their big expensive coaches he tells me them how much it will cost to fix it and deals with their insurance company.

Lexismama replied: DH is a CSR for a company called Jeld-wen. Works in the office so it normal hours, no weekends and full benifits.

Mommy2Isabella replied: My DH is in the Military! smile.gif

aspenblue1 replied: I guess technically he is a stock broker not sure what his company calls it.

MamaJAM replied:
I'm a SAHM.
Right now I don't have any type of paying job...though I might start up a 'fancy card' business in the future. I loved making DD#1's Bat Mitzvah invitations (did it all by hand). I know there are very few places in our area that sell them...and most of the ones I found were so expensive. Once DS#2 is in school and I'd have a bit more free-time around the house - I might just see what happens.
ftr - The invitations were just like wedding invitations would be - invitation, reply card, misc inserts.

kayla's mama replied: I thought my DH was the only one who works crazy hours and never home on the weekends and most nights.

BAC'sMom replied: My husband works for a Commercial & Residential Security Company. He also works long hours and on the weekends sometimes. sad.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Right now Dh is working in customer service for a factory that makes aluminum flag and light poles. If an opening comes up within the factory that makes better money though he will take it!

He wants to finish school and get his education degree, but we're a little short on the funds. rolleyes.gif

fashionmumofboys replied: Owns his own Construction business. They build custom homes (big ones). Long hours.

Mom2BNTN replied: My DH is a Computer Programmer Analyst. Just don't ask me what his job involves, because I am not 100% sure. laugh.gif

KingMom replied: My DH works for the local Electric Company as a armed security guard at thier Nuclear Power Plant.

I once did Mary Kay for a while, but it's a lot more work than you think until you build a good customer base. I recently sold most of my merchandise on Ebay to get rid of it as I'm not able to keep up with it or do I have the personality to approach strangers about making them look better!

I work full time though as an Executive Assistant with Capital One so with that and the baby, there's no way I could keep up with the Mary Kay. You have to be very motivated and able to approach people.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: My DH is a director for land acquisitions for a national home developer - but only for the Colorado Springs branch. He's the start of it all - he looks at dirt all day is what he says! No not really, but it's his little joke. He gets the contracts with the land sellers.

jcc64 replied: Dh is operations manager for a small investment firm. Also handles all of their technology.
He also owns his own web design/hosting business on the side, not to mention all of his extracurricular youth sports leagues that he runs.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
I didn't know this, Nicole. happy.gif

Scotty is a GSM (general sales manager) at a Ford/Mazda dealership. wink.gif We are working on starting our own business...just don't know when. tongue.gif

He also works long hours and every Saturday. sad.gif

Edward's Mommy replied: My DH works at ADT Security!

widgetX12 replied:
heh Same here, except my bf is done with his apprenticeship. He graduated about 3 years ago. He also drives 90 miles to and from work everyday. The last two years were really rough workwise, but 2005 was a great year for work! Is he in the IBEW?
