What food is your town or state known for? - Weird question I know...lol

paradisemommy replied: well, i'm in hawaii too but i was going to say kahlua pig/poi/lomi lomi salmon/haupia (coconut dessert) - all at our luau's or malasada which are donuts that are fried with sugar on the outside and you can get them plain or with custard..
so what's a pork roll???

amymom replied: New York, We are a big dairy state, That may surprise alot of people. Apples are big here too. And Wine. Lots of wine. There is also Thousand Island Dressing. I live near the Thousand Islands, we are going to be featured on Food Network for the dressing soon. Near NY City it is more likely to be know for the Pizza and Italian food.

People call our town "Chickendale USA" Because Tyson Chicken is here in Springdale, Arkansas. Otherwise I would say that Arkansas is know for Fried Chicken. Help me out Mel, any others?

I know that around here (central IL) we love horseshoes (a dish) and when I moved down to southern IL for awhile they didn't even know what they were. It was a sad, sad situation I tell you.
I know our state snack was made popcorn a year or so ago, I think.

coasterqueen replied: lol. Horseshoes are some type of meat, whether it's hamburger, turkey, ham, chicken, etc...and it's smothered with french fries and a awesome thick cheese sauce. It's sooooooo good! Man I wish I could have one, but there's dairy in it so i can't. SIGH.

I couldn't think of anything else when it comes to Florida besides the citrus. Oh wait there is conch chowder down in Key West. You can get some really great seafood down in the keys.
