na81 replied: I have never heard of that. I hope you both get better fast!!

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I bet you have heard of it. It is the virus that causes hand, fot and mouth disease.

Ashlynn's Mommy replied: My twin nieces had that when they ere 2 years old. It is horrible. They had o be taken to the hospital and everything bawling.gif

luvbug00 replied: How did you get it?? arugh you poor things! hug.gif

Ashlynn's Mommy replied: It's usually caused by germs, and bacteria. The twins got it from the daycare they went too, because the other kids got it too. When they pick dirty toys up and put them in there mouths thats usually how they get it. Especially in the summer because it's hot, and bacteria grows on things. That's why now I wash my daughters toys in hot water. Because she puts everything in her mouth. You have to be really careful

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Yes that is exactly it. If you look under hand foot and mouth disease you'd probably find more information. It is EXTREMELY contagious and not fun at all. It hurts the most in the mouths. It's like having tons of canker sores. Our son had it in his mouth once...not fun at all. He was out of daycare for at least 5-6 days.

ashtonsmama replied:
I've heard of it--hand, foot, and mouth disease? Not fun. Feel better boys!

AlexsPajamaMama replied: I have heard of hand foot and mouth but never the word coxsackie.

Hope everyone feels better soon!!!

Jamison'smama replied: Jamison has had it---not sure at all how she got it. The first symptom according to our doctor was crankiness and she was absolutely right. Jamison only had tiny bumps around her mouth--5 about the size of flea bites.

kit_kats_mom replied: bad news. Sorry. Lauren had this earlier in the year. Cranky, followed by high fever, followed by lots of drooling and the sores on the back of the throat. Yow!

redchief replied: WTG Kelly! I've heard of it but rarely have to deal with it in the prehospital care setting because usually the symptoms don't require EMS.

It can be a nasty little bugger though, can't it?

gr33n3y3z replied: I hope you both feel better right quick
Other then that how are you both doing?

MyBrownEyedBoy replied:
Thanks, Ed. I only knew about it because of an ER visitor who had it. I had to draw blood on the kid and the doc made me scrub up GOOD!!!

holley79 replied:
Same here.

I hope you both get better very soon. Thoughts and prayers are with you both. hug.gif Poor mom, two sick men at home. rolling_smile.gif j/k

garrettsmom replied: I had hand, foot and mouth disease when I was little. Then 2 years ago I got these VERY painful sores in my mouth and doc said it was coxsackie. He has something to do with the Epstein Barr virus (mono-which I had 4 years ago), that lies dormant, and flares up during times of stress.

It was verrry painful, I had a real hard time eating/swallowing. sad.gif

jaytrevjax replied: I am sooo sorry you have this at your house! My 2 kids had it a few years ago, and it is miserable! And the way you get it is (sorry, this is gross!) from fecal matter. Some one didn't wash thier hands after using the bathroom (or changing a diaper) and touched something the kids picked up after, and then they put thier hands in thier mouths, and guess what went is with thier fingers? puke.gif That churned my stomach when the doctor told me that is what it's from! but thank goodness my kids just got it mostly on the bottoms of thier feet, which in itself is miserable, they couldn't even stand wearing socks! Good Luck, I hope everything gets better quickly! They can also be contagous (sp) for, if I remember right, up to 2 or 3 weeks after symptoms start!
