What is the going rate for childcare in your area? - part-time & full time?
CAMSMOM1 wrote: I've been busy looking for childcare centers & homes for Cam. And they are so expensive! For part time it's 16-19.00 a day. And full-time is 26-35.00 a day! Like 600.00 a month for fulltime and 500 for part time!!! This is really going to be hard to do finacally. I can't imagine how people afford to put 2 or 3 children in daycare!!!
KingMom replied: I pay $20/day part time.
MyLuvBugs replied: Surprisingly enough Nebraska charges about the same as California. We were SHOCKED when we moved here. But they really only do Full time day care, unless you get a personal nanny/sitter. But all the daycares that I called charged around $750.00 for the month. That's our RENT!! I'm sure there's some that are cheaper, but it's just better that I stay home personally.
Cece00 replied: I dont know about part time but full time for an infant is about $420-450 a month and right about $400 for a child who is 2 or older
Kaitlin'smom replied: I was paying 480 a month for full time in-home child care, now well we wont go into that with her new pre-school and still part time care. I dont know how people manage with 2.
booey2 replied: Up here (Canada) my sitter is my nextdoor neighbour and she charges $20 fullday for children 1-4, Half day - $15.00, then for Matthew it is $10.00 a day because she only has him for 1 hour in the morning max and about 2 hours afterschool and she feeds them supper but that will be changing in the summer. I am going to be feeding them supper because right now they eat so early that Matthew ends up having a complete 2nd supper with us around 6:30-7pm each night. She also feeds them both breakfast (when they will eat) and Thomas gets lunch.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I have not called around in awhile. But I think it was either $790 full time for 2 kids or $890 for two kids. At the time Kellie was under 12mos, so she was $10more a month.
For p/t it depends on the center. It may be $100 for 2days a week with b/s/l being served for about 6hours of care twice a week. Or $25 for 8 hours one day/per week at another place I called to. Another place was around the same price at the $100 one, but they had longer hours, and they were more flexible in the time slots.
Part time care is hard to get here, IMO. There are some places that have it, but overall full time care is more prevalent.
mckayleesmom replied: This is why I plan to stay home until the kids are in school full time......or if by miracle....my sister lives close enough to babysit..for free....
luvbug00 replied: wow you all are lucky here for full time mon-fri it's $400 every 2 weeks!!!! for an infant , yep you read that right...
kayla's mama replied: Here it is $120/per week for infants not sure about Cams age group. Our old sitter charged us $20/per day and thats what I charge now that I'm doing it.
Good luck finding a place for Cam!!!!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: We pay $200/month part time for Logan. With my crazy schedule he's only there every other week. Our center was the only one that charged part time rates for an infant. I got lucky. Going rate for an infant fulltime in Idaho (at least our corner of Idaho) is about $400/month.
JP&KJMOM replied: I pay $145 a week for Karlee (3 yr old).
They wanted $115 a week for JP for afterschool ONLY. (Basically from 3pm to no later than 5 pm.) This is the reason his Gran takes him and picks him up from school everyday. Thank goodness for my mom!
CosmetologyMommy replied: Aidan went 4 days a week and it was $295 a week!!!!!!!!!!!
luvmykids replied: When I still worked it was $125/wk per child, so $250/wk, $1000/month. Ouch!
kimberley replied: $5/hr
the rate does go down for families but not by much.. maybe $3/hr per kid.
aspenblue1 replied: at an in home day care its 25.00 a day and that is cheap. I was looking at daycare centers and the cheapest is 352.00 a week for both of them.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Child care costs is a big reason I stay home too I haven't looked into the prices recently, but at the time that we had DS 2 years ago daycare was not in our budget
holley79 replied: A friend of mine is opening up a 24/7 daycare center. It would be $20.00 a day for part time and if there was a "space" available. Then it's 120.00 a week full time. Fortunately for me DH and I work opposite and the girl next door watches Annika for the hour that DH leaves for work and I get home. It's 10.00 a day for us.
When Annika gets more mobile I am probably going to have to look for a Dayhome or something so I can get some sleep but that will still be part time care.
blue72 replied: My only option is in-home day care. There are no daycare centers in my town. I pay by the hour. $4.50 per hr for all 3 which is about 30% of my after tax income. I struggle more with daycare availability. I can't find back-up daycare for 3 so any sitter days off are days off for me or my husband. Very little of my vacation time is spent vacationing with the family. It all goes to sick kids or no daycare.
mummy2girls replied: For jenna dayhome its 500 a month for fulltime... When i open a dayhome i will charge 450 a montth. daycare centres for fulltime ranges from 500-650 depending on the age. But it also depends on the centre as well:)
Brias3 replied: I don't know personally but a friend of my husband's has an infant daughter in full-time care in New York and they pay in upwards of $1,000/month at a NAEYC-accredited center. OUCH.
zdk753 replied: When I was checking around for a daycare it was going to cost me $900 a mo. & that was w/ the boys only going for half a day.
mommy2m-n-l replied: I charge $90/wk for one, $160 for 2...I was paying $10,000/year for my two to be in daycre, so I started my own!!
b&bsmom replied: When I left working in daycare ( which is I had a child at the time and it wasn't free for me I wouldn't have been able to send my child there on what I made!!) Anyway, when I left 6yrs, almost 7yrs ago it was 200wk for infant.
Since I had my daughter I have been a nanny and I watch in my home. As a nanny I made 11 an hour for a 3yr old and a 7yr old from 7 to 5. In my home I charge $40 a day for 1 $60 a day for 2 however they only come 1 or 2 days a week. I provide breakfast lunch and snack plus I do art activites and kind of a preschool setting. I have two that pay hourly the one has one child comes 2 days a week and pays $5 an hour the other has 2 kids comes one day and I pick her dd up at school she pays me 7. That is how it goes right now anyway. I kinda adjust to each ones situation. I used to watch twins and their younger sister and charged $60 a day ( and the younger one had cistic fibrosis so it was a lot of treatments and things) it all depends on the situation in my case but I try to keep it fair for everyone.
Good luck in whatever you decide!!
CAMSMOM1 replied: I'm so amazed by the outrageous costs for daycare!!! How can anyone afford to have more than one child in daycare? And since I only work part time, I don't want to put him in a full time position, but there isnt many places that accept part time. I feel like I'm working just to put Cam in daycare, seems crazy to me. But I know it'll be good for him to be around other kids, and doing the activities there. But I'm sure once I have another child, I'll either have to work full time, or become a SAHM, or open my own daycare in my home.
coasterqueen replied: We pay $190 a week for 2 kids at an in-home daycare. So that's about $760 a month. That's CHEAP for around here. Daycare centers run about $160 on up for one kid per week. Not sure what part-time care is at all anywhere here.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I know is expensive for alot of families, and the reason many stay at home, however think of it this way, I would rather pay a bit more to have someone happy with there job then to go cheep and have the person hate there job simply because they dont make enough. Childcare works in most places dont make much, I know my sister made $6 an hour when she worked at one.
Chiflata2003 replied: Here it is $2-3 an hour part time per kid, or $200 a month full time. But then again it is a day care on Army base so I dont know if that is normal for places outside the gate.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Where I lived before (Ottawa) we paid 36$ a day, per child. We had a 10% discount for the second child... 68.40$ day for daycare. It came up to 342$ a week for both kids full time, or 1368$ for a month. They let us just paid 680$ every 2 weeks. It was easier for us to calculate. And every now and then, we'd write them a check for the difference in the cost vs. what we paid...
For a while, we were sending them 3 days a week, but that's still 68$ a day...might as well stay home.
Upon moving here (Joliette) we were paying 23$ a day per child (well dh's work was) but now with the subsidy from the government, we're only paying 7$ a day per child. 21$ for daycare for 3 kids is a heck of a lot better then 69$ a day.
When we move, if we move, i'll be staying home, thanks. There is no way I can pay 100.80$ every day for daycare. That's like 2000$ a month.
Makes me want to be a day care provider that much more.
I mean - if my max amount of kids is 5... and I already have 3... even if I only charge 30$ a day - that's 60$ a day, 300$ a week, just for doing what I have to do anyways... uh... yeah... so I thnk that's the rounte I'm going to take.
My2Beauties replied: We pay DH grandmother $80 a week to keep Hanna. That is full time. I have no idea what daycares charge. So that is what $320 per month. Dang we got off good then.
JAYMESMOM replied: Here it is anywhere from 25-40 a day per child. Most partime is 15-20 a day. That usually includes lunch and snack.
