What should I do?
MM'sMama wrote: Last Monday (over a week ago) I called to see if our xmas photos were in yet and they told me yes. So I drive there and then the lady at the counter spends 20 mins looking for them in the photo file thing (KWIM?). Well, she couldn't find then so she goes let me check some where else. She comes back 15 mins later and tells me they have not come in yet. Ok I was a little annoyed because they said they were in and I drove 30 mins to get them. But not to upset things happen mistakes are made. So I said ok and asked to be called when they did come in and went to do some shopping while I was up there. So I called them today because I still had not herd from them and they said they were in. So I go there and I pull out the piutres and I'm looking at them, and they have a HUGE black streak down the center of ALL of them. vAnd the second I started opening them they seemed to get uneasy KWIM? And it turned out they did have them monday they had been trying to remove the streak. They said they didn't know if it was the film or what. Then they showed me there "fixed" versions of the pictures and OMG they were god awful! So they told me they would ether,
A do a free reshoot and give me 5 free sheets of my choice and 20 free xmas cards. B give me half my money back and I could take the bad photos. or C I could have the "fixed" photos and a $10 gift card from them.
Now I know things happen and everything I'm not so mad about that. I'm upset because of how they went about it. I mean shouldnt they have realized 3 weeks ago when we had the pictures taken, and they first developed them? Or at lest told me over a week ago when they did get them in? So at lest I'd have time to have new ones taken. Not to mention they were full willing to try and hide the fact and let me walk out with them had I not opened them to have a look. Sorry I'm just a little annoyed by this. So what should I do? A lot of our xmas cards go over seas so we needed to have them done early. Should I just do retakes and be ok with people getting them late? Or maybe take some of my own pictures and do my own cards?
Sorry guys thank you for listening .
Celestrina replied: I would say go with A - You will be getting so much free stuff it would be worth it. However I would not go back there.
jem0622 replied: I am really torn here because of the poor customer service. We had this happen when we used Wal-Mart and I'm never going back. I do think that it is a lab error or a film error. I'd talk to the manager and ask for the most qualified person to do a reshoot. Couldn't hurt to try one more time. Get all the free stuff you can get! If they mess that up then I'd write them off!
MM'sMama replied: Thanks eveyrone I called them and they told me that they would have there most qualified person do the retakes, but that I would have to wait till Jan 14th! WHAT?!?!?! So I just said forget it can I just have a full refund so after a lot of talking they have agreed to give me a full refund!
Should I maybe try to takes some pis myself for this yr?
mckayleesmom replied: I would get my money back....Take the messed up photos...upload them onto my computer and see if I can fix them myself.
MM'sMama replied: I thought about that but I don't know how I am so bad at that kind of stuff
My3LilMonkeys replied: I would ask for my money back AND a free reshoot! Most companies are willing to do what it takes to satisfy the customer - especially if you're a frequent customer.
ilovemybaby replied: ITA! I cannot believe they tried to hide it from you. That's really poor. Definately don't go back there!
And if you have a digital camera start taking your own photos as well for special occasions.
ilovemybaby replied: Do you have a digital camera? You can take really good photos yourself that will look professional. As long as you use the flash (except for if there is a lot of natural sunlight) and zoom in as much as needed, you should be able to take really nice photos. PM me if you like because we have never had photos done professionally... we take all our own photos. I just don't want any hassles and I've heard so much negative feedback about them that I am too scared to even try it once. I will be doing our Christmas photo of Abby soon and making scrapbook cards with the photos and sending them to all our family. If you need any help just ask.
mom21kid2dogs replied: We had this happen at WalMart also. It was really annoying as we were doing the 3 grandchildren together for Nana. We had to do retakes and got them the day before mother's day.
We generally use our own photos to send out with Christmas cards. We just use the PIcture Maker machine and do wallets of a few of our favorite pics. Lots of times they do a buy 1 get one special around the holiday season. Would something like this work for you?
CantWait replied: GO DIRECTLY TO THE HEAD OFFICE. THEY AT THE VERY LEAST SHOULD OFFER YOU FREE RETAKES AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE, EVEN IF IT MEANS THEY HAVE TO STAY LATE OR ON A LUNCH BREAK.
If you don't want to go through all of that, then I would a) ask for the photos that had the streaks, then and make them give you a free session in January, or when you want it.
A company that wants your business, and your good word of mouth won't let you go without making YOU happy. Stand your ground and ask for what you want.
MM'sMama replied: Thank you so much for the help everyone I will call them first thing friday and see what I can get them to do about it.
I am going to take some pics with the digi cam for now and see how they turn out, we will see.
Thank you all so much the help was much appreciated!
holley79 replied: I would be so also. I would take option A and get the cards out as soon as possible. I would make then rush the order so you can get them back quicker. Since you have over seas people, take your own, make your cards then send the professional after the fact. I am so sorry.
