What size of bed - for your child

moped wrote: SO what size of bed does your child sleep in? I want to get Jack a new single bed but DH thinks that the queen bed in the spare room is fine....I disagree.

You??

Calimama replied: She's in her crib obviously but eventually she'll be in a queen bed.

stella6979 replied: I don't know, I guess if I had an extra queen size bed available, I wouldn't see anything wrong with it. I would have loved to have such a big bed when I was little. biggrin.gif

sunrosejenn replied: toddler

luvmykids replied: Mine are all in twin sized....I still get paranoid about them getting wrapped up in covers and suffocating or something so that would be my reason a queen wouldn't work....too much extra fabric. I did think about giving the girls a double bed to share but decided against it just because I didn't think they'd sleep well knocking each other around.

Kaitlin'smom replied: she has a twin, her room with all the stuff she currently has wont hold anything bigger, and its fine for now, eventulaly when we move I will probably either give her the full or queen we have and guest room will have the other so I can get a king sized biggrin.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: All of my kids have queen size beds. The youngest is 8, so my kids are older...but the youngest just got moved up from his full size bed.

Their rooms are oversized, so that makes a difference with space. If they didnt have big rooms, I would stick with a full size bed.

Our Lil' Family replied: We just converted his crib to the toddler stage but eventually it'll make a full size. That's all I had until I got married so that's what he'll get too! laugh.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: Jordan is in her crib (when she's not sleeping with me happy.gif ) and Jade sleeps in a Twin.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Wil is in a twin and we have a matching twin for Wesley hiding in storage. If you already have a spare queen, why not. I wouldn't run out and buy one so big, but if you already have it, use it. Maybe just keep the mattress on the floor for a while without the box spring and bed stand. I had a twin up until my junior year in college, so I'm jealous that Jack may get a queen! laugh.gif j/k

My3LilMonkeys replied: Twin, due to room constraints. If you've got an extra queen, I'd say try it - if it doesn't work out then you could always buy him a twin.

kimberley replied: we got a twin for all the kids and K will get one too. that's all they need imho.

eta: you can't get the cute sheets in bigger than twin anyway. hard to find.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well we had a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a twin on the top, so that's what we used when Zach moved up to a big bed. We've since replaced it with regular twin bunk beds, that are interchangeable... on top of each other, on top of each other but L shaped, or two singles... which my girls are using, Naomie is on the bottom, and Emilie is on the top. Zach has a "new" bed, which is twin, with the drawers under the bed... But if I had the extra bed and the space, Queen would be just fine for me. Besides... Zach's getting to the age where he's started to ask for a friend to sleepover.... and those are tough in single beds. laugh.gif

lisar replied: Lexi has a twin bed. And Raygen is of course still in her crib. My friends 2 year old has a queen bed and loves it though.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Andrew's in a toddler bed now but he'll get a twin bed when he grows out of that. A twin bed is good enough for a kid imo. If we have the space when he's a few years older we might get him a full sized bed - I don't remember how old I was when I got a full size all to myself (not shared with my sister) but I think I was around 10 or 11?? And the only reason I got it was that my parents had an extra lying around. I went back to a twin for a while after that and eventually ended up with a bunk bed that had a full size on the bottom and a twin on the top. happy.gif

luvbug00 replied: Mya is in a single.

MommyToAshley replied: Ashley is in a twin as well. But, if I had an extra queen and it would have fit in her room, then I would have used it. But, there is no way a queen would even fit in her room.

3xsthefun replied: The girls have twin size bunk beds.

BabyOwen427 replied: When I lived by myself I had a full size bed and when we got married we used dh's queen size bed so my old bed is in ds's room and when he grows out of his crib he will be in the full size bed. If we ever move we will put the full size in a spare room and get ds a twin. If we stay in this house all the kids will share the full size bed after they grow out of the crib.

boyohboyohboy replied: caleb is in a twin, but if I had to do it over again, I would have it been a full or queen, because right now I think the boys would sleep together, they want to, but there just isnt enough room in the twin bed for both of them..I think they would enjoy the closeness right now.
and since you are having another, there might be a time when your two want to sleep together, but you have the extra queen then to use...

Cece00 replied: My boys are in twin beds, the babies are in cribs. They will all stay in twins, too, I think that is fine for kids. I had a full when I was like 10 or so, but I was an only child. My kids have to share rooms, so there isnt room for 2 fulls in each room.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner went from his crib straight to a twin when he was about 2. He sleeps on a queen size over at my mom and dad's and he does well with it, but for an actual bed for his room, I say twin. Also...you wont find fun kid type sheets (Thomas, for example) and stuff like that in any other bigger size I believe. wink.gif All the more reason to go with a twin! smile.gif
