What types of things do you not - like to recieve on xmas?
mckayleesmom wrote: I know that xmas is not about the presents, but the thought that counts, but I really can't stand it when people get me something for xmas that has something to do with xmas. KWIM?
For example:
an xmas ornament xmas sweater glass xmas figurines etc....
It makes me frustrated because xmas is over and what are you suppose to do with it. Whats the worst thing you have gotten? Dh keeps telling me he is getting me something with a glass top and an electronic bottom with cool buttons that say Slow, fast, mash, puree,,,,,,,I told him he would be going out the window with that blender when I unwrap it.
mummy2girls replied: I got santa pjs for christmas one time.
mckayleesmom replied: lol...I got an xmas ornament that was falling apart one year in a gift exchange
paradisemommy replied: last year my sister got me these pajamas that look like something out of little house and the prairie..its wadded up and in some corner now
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I think the worst present I got was my parents splitting up. They were so wrapped up in themselves, fighting on Xmas eve, and coordinating my mom's move of furniture that we were left overnight at my grandmother's house, and my mom came to pick us up on Xmas day, before my grandparents were awake, at something like 4 in the morning....so she had to wake us up, and so my grandparents hadn't put out the hidden presents yet, as usually they were up around 6....
so the first thing that was said to me was something along the lines of:
"Hurry up, get dressed, we're leaving - your father and I are separating"
I was 10.

other than that, the worst gift I ever got was from my dad's ex girfriend - a big glass bowl from the dollar store...it had a crack in it.
Kaitlin'smom replied: for me it would have to be getting my birthday present on christmas! I hate that.
mummy2girls replied: i get that too. My birthday is 6 days before christmas so as i got older my mom said..happy birthday pick a present under the tree...
Kaitlin'smom replied: awwww thats terrible! Mine is 23 days away from it and I still got shafted!
I have warned people you will not do that to Kailtin, if you cant see her on or shortly after her birthday then you may give them to me and I will hold them for her but in no way will you say oh and here is your birthday present. Her b-day is 3 days after.
kimberley replied:
i did too from my mom one year, but to make it worse, they were 1 piece with feet and she bought a matching pair for my sister and we were like 18 and 26 at the time.
it is between that or my dad's ex gf bought me a silk teddy when i was 16! how inappropriate! the worst part is that i think she re-gifted it. someone bought it for her and it was too small. regifting crap is just wrong!
mummy2girls replied: Im sorry but that is too funny
5littleladies replied: Last year for Christmas my grandpa's girlfriend told my family that she had gifts for us all. She proceded to bring out a grocery sack of clothes that looked like they were taken out of her closets and handed them out to everyone. I got a vest that I wouldn't even think about wearing and DH got a shirt that didn't even fit him. DD's all got dirty stuffed animals. I hope she doesn't do that again this year. Makes me miss my grandma even more.
coasterqueen replied: LOL, I gave a co-worker Christmas decorations for part of her gift because I couldn't think of anything else. Oops! LOL
Okay, I get some pretty horrible gifts every year, but the one that comes to mind is this big huge fluffy pillow that was an ugly color and some old fashioned wolf scene on it. It's hiding behind a chair in our den until grandma comes over
5littleladies replied: I love getting Christmas decorations for gifts!! Maybe she did too.
Maddie&EthansMom replied:
I feel sorry for you! My mom's b-day is Christmas Eve and my dad's is Christmas day! How terrible is that??? They said it never bothered them, though.
ediep replied: yea, I agree with the soaps, powder, bubble bath...that sort of thing. I'm not really into that type of stuff.
jen replied: The worst gift I ever got was a training device called a running martingale to keep my horse's head down, kind of cruel and something I WOULD NEVER USE! But my DH thought she a little high headed and spirited! ha ha! I train natural horsemanship so it was a slap in the face! HAAAAAAAA! Needless to say my horse never had to wear it and it was returned for some horse treats and brushes at the saddle shop he got it from!
Other than that he has always done pretty well, he had a painting made of my horse last year and had her name spelled wrong, but I didn't say anything I just started spelling her name that way! LOL!
MommyToAshley replied: Awwweee! That's a cute story.
When I was younger, I always peeked at my presents and wrapped them back up. One year when I was about 12 or maybe 13, my Mom put a big and heavy present under the tree with my name on it. I couldn't wait for them to leave so I could peek at it. It seemed like they stayed home for two days straight, it was driving me nuts. I imagined all kinds of kewl things that it could be! Finally, they left to do some more shopping and I had that thing unwrapped before they pulled out of the driveway. When I peeked, it was an electric typewriter. I guess they thought I could use it for school, but not what I was expecting or hoping for. It was a big disappointment. But, I was glad that I peeked at that present because I am sure my disappointment would have shown when I opened it. At least at Christmas, I already knew what it was and I could do a better job of faking that I liked it.
mummy2girls replied: i did that. One year my parents wrapped my gifts with the reuseable paper. where you can easily take the tape off and not make a rip... And i would peek and then rewrap. I would do it when they leave the house or wait till late at night to do it when they were sleeping..LOL
