What would you do with this?

mommy~to~a~bunch wrote: DH brought home a big roll of brown paper from work. It's about 3 feet wide x 1,000 feet or something, LOL. There's a LOT. I'm not creative at all, so what could I or the kids do with it?

My3LilMonkeys replied: We got those when my DH used to work at a book plant - they are great for lots of things!! I used it for:

covering the table for messy art projects

cooling cookies on when I was making lots and didn't have enough racks

wrapping ceramics/delicate christmas ornaments for storage

If it's the light brown color, I would unroll 3 or 4 feet on the floor and the girls would color for hours!

wrapping boxes for shipping

probably other stuff I'm not remembering....we just stuck it in the corner next to the fridge and whenever we needed it for something we'd pull it out.

A&A'smommy replied:
we had some brown paper and we did all of the above!!! thumb.gif

luvmykids replied: I let the kids color and paint it, then use it for wrapping paper. Inexpensive, personal, and adored by all recipients laugh.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: We had one before! We used it as wrapping paper, mostly... but we'd also use it as a tablecloth and the kids could color while they ate. Kept em busy for an hour or two.. emlaugh.gif

If you're feeling like your walls need a change...you can use it as wallpaper. I read that once, don't remember where.. but it seemed pretty neat at the time.

You can also use it to do like a decoupage type of thing... to cover books or trunks or suitcase, even frames or storage bins etc... for a faux leather look. Use modge podge, or other sealant...

Here's a link. The wallpaper thing's actually on it, too.

Have fun!!

MommyToAshley replied: Have all the kids lay down on the paper, trace an outline of themsleves and then cut it out and let them paint or color. I'd do it again in a year and see how it changes. laugh.gif

luvmykids replied:
They did that on Trading Spaces once, they tore it into small pieces, crinkled it up, then modge podged it on the wall to look like leather. I tried it and it looked awful so don't listen to my instructions rolling_smile.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yep, I used it for wallpaper, too. But, mine looks good. biggrin.gif

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: thumb.gif Thanks for the awesome ideas! I love the idea of tracing them; bet they'd love that!

kit_kats_mom replied:
we actually did the tracings at Daisy Scouts last week. The girls had a blast!!! if you want to go all out, get some yarn and other art supplies, and some glue and let them decorate themselves.

mommy~to~a~bunch replied:
We have a TON of art supplies!! They'd love to decorate them as well! I recently ordered a bunch for homeschooling from http://www.discountschoolsupply.com . They have a free print catalog too.

Nina J replied: The tracing thing is fun, I remember when I was 4 we did that in Kindergarten. It must've been good because I still remember it, lol.

Calimama replied:
Awesome idea!

luvmykids replied:
Of course it does, I wouldn't expect any less from you rolling_smile.gif

lisar replied: I would let the kids color on it and paint it and all that
