What's on your 2yo's birthday wishlist?

kit_kats_mom wrote: We have a lot of babies turning two soon. I thought we could share what we plan/wish to buy for our little ones...maybe we can get some good ideas from each other.

Since Katherine already got a tricycle, she will be getting the doll that Dr. Phil reccomended for potty training. I was looking for a doll that she can bathe and change...this one had the added bonus of being a potty training aid. thumb.gif http://www.niftycool.com/aqdrwetbabad.html

I'm requesting more books, puzzles and a child sized rocking chair from the family. I will start a savings account for her birthday for bedroom furniture too. Right now her crib matteress is on the floor, which works really well since she usually is sleeping on the floor with her head on the matteress by the morning but I'd like to get a dresser & toddler bed for her too. Gotta save for that though.

amynicole21 replied: We're getting linens and a bedspread for her new "big girl bed" that she won't use rolleyes.gif She'll also get a seat for my new bike if I can find one cheap enough. I'm requesting books and videos from family... can't really think of anything else right now! I'm a little late on planning for this one. blush.gif

MommyToAshley replied: We already gave Ashley her tricylce too.

I think we are going to get her a sandbox since she doesn't have one yet and I picked up a wooden train set and puzzles during that big Amazon sale. I think we are going to wait until Christmas to get her the kitchen set.

kit_kats_mom replied:
See what I mean! I had been thinking of getting a kitchen set but I'd have totally forgotten ifyou'd not reminded me. Maybe that will be her christmas present too. tongue.gif

FYI: I was going to get a sandbox for K but I ended up buying a large, plastic, underbed storage container with a lid. I filled that up with 2 bags of play sand and toys. K loves it and it was WAY cheaper than the actual sandboxes.

coasterqueen replied: Kylie got her tricycle a bit early but that's part of her present. She is also getting her very own fish tank and two fish biggrin.gif Every time we go somewhere that could possibly have fish Kylie has to go see them and wants to stay there forever! So Dh thought it would be better to have her own at home. rolleyes.gif He knows HE'LL be cleaning that tank.

I also picked up a larger magna doodle for her and a Jimmy Neutron dvd, since she always seems to want to watch him. rolleyes.gif It's more for those trips when we go down south which is about once a month, lol.

I will probably get her some clothes too. A new outfit or two and then the rest at consignment shops. She needs them so they really aren't for her birthday.

We wanted to get her an outdoor playhouse but that didn't pan out, couldn't find one used. sad.gif Oh well, she's got enough.

I know she's getting an Elmo Pop-up Tent Playhouse for indoors and a trunk of pretend play clothes so she can play dress up with them instead of mommy's bras and underwear. biggrin.gif

With both of our families I had to give them a big list of ideas so they could have plenty to chose from. Ryan's family especially likes it that way, lol.

So this is what I put on her list:

dress up clothes, dress up play shoes, play vacuum cleaner, Mr. Potato Head, a play purse, Little People Sweet Sounds Home, anything Dora the Explorer, computer software suitable for a toddler, more crayola coloring books to go along with her markers, any new bathtub toys, clothes.

That's about it, lol. I highly doubt she gets 1/2 of that though, which is good! Christmas isn't that far away!

DansMom replied: I can't get him away from the Thomas the Train setup at our local toystore, and I wanted to buy that for his birthday, but then I saw the price. Even on e-bay they are pretty pricy. My nephew has packed up in storage his wooden-track train set. It's pretty complete, very similar to Thomas, and he says Daniel can have it, so we'll set that up for him as a surprise at our house, but it won't be brand new---do you think that's cheap of me? I don't think he'll know or care at this age.

He loves mechanical toys right now---not electronic, but mechanical wind up toys, so I'm going to get some of those, and he's getting some expensive winter boots I found for 20 dollars off (Aster brand), as we need good boots here in Michigan. Hmm... he loves his Bobux (like Robeez) train slippers, but he outgrew them and it makes him sad that he can't put them on anymore, so I'm going to try to find those in the next size up (large).

We really need more books, and really good, classic children's books at his age level, so that's what I'll be asking for from family and friends. Maybe a sled, as he's pretty much a winter baby. That's all I've come up with so far.

ediep replied: this is what we are getting jason for the yard. He needs cothes for the fall and winter, so I'll ask family for that

kit_kats_mom replied: OK. I just updated her wish list on Amazon.

Li'l Chefs Kitchen - Meals For Two -plastic foods for the play kitchen
Pretend and Play 70 Piece Kitchen Set -cookware
Fun Folding Kitchen with 18 Accessories
My Cleaning Trolley -this one had pretty poor reviews on amazon but she loved playing with it at her friends house. She is forever sweeping our floor! LOL
Music & Lights Sit 'n Spin: Rockin' Tunes
My First LeapPad - Blue along with some books
Double Easel for my little artist

Then some classic disney videos and books/puzzles.

coasterqueen replied: Oooh Kylie LOVES her double easel. I bet K would too. I got Kylie's at a consignment shop and it looks brand new but I got it for less than 1/2 the price of a brand new one! Kylie just loves coloring on it!

DansMom replied: Thanks for the easel idea!!! I'm adding that to my list right now. biggrin.gif

paradisemommy replied: Music & Lights Sit 'n Spin: Rockin' Tunes

Cary, you'll have to let me know how k likes it, if you get one - i got one for taven last christmas (it was pretty cheap and i had free shipping!!) and he is really unimpressed with it - the top spinner part comes off, so he is constantly pulling it off and turning it upside down. he loves to boogie to the music but it's pretty loud and irritating and once you press it, you can't get it to turn off, you have to let it play out!!

maybe he just needs to get older to grasp the concept more???
dunno.gif i thought for sure it would be a hit!!

kit_kats_mom replied:
hmmmm. She plays with the one at daycare but I didn't know it wasnt' that sturdy. I may have to rethink that one. rolleyes.gif

I ordered the baby doll for her today (it pees, it can be bathed and diapered) it's the one that Dr Phil reccomended for potty training but that's not why I got it. K keeps throwing all her dolls in the bath & they aren't "bathable". biggrin.gif

I also ordered her a dress me doll with a snap, tie, velcro, snap and buckle to help her learn those skills.

That's all Im getting her & she will like it! LOL I know my mom is getting her the child sized rocking chair.

Edited to say: K will not be getting all of those gifts either. They are just on her wish list. rolleyes.gif she's rotten and spoiled but not that bad. rolling_smile.gif

I know what you mean! DH wants to get Cameron a fish tank also because he thinks he will love it (he always goes to them when we are at peoples houses or in restaurants, etc) But I REFUSE to clean it! (I think they stink!)

We are getting Cameron a travel magnetic letter and animal set for the car, (my inlaws live about 5 hours away and we go at least once a month!) some sesame street matchbox cars, a floor puzzle, some playdough stuff, adn not sure what else. He has too many toys already and has all the outside stuff that our yard can hold (and we have 1.5 acres so we definately don't need any outside stuff!) Inlaws got him a tricycle for xmas last year and another relative got him a bike (that he won't be able to use until he's like 4 or 5 for his first birthday!) WE thought about an art center because he LOVES to draw and do crafts and then he would have a place to get messy without getting it all over the house. But we still don't know.

My mom got him Kasey the Kinderbot (toys are us had it on sale $30 off so she picked it up) which he absolutely loved in the store.

We still have until at least Halloween to finish b/c he's a november baby but I want to get most of it done before the baby comes..... which could be anytime.

We are doing the train table/set for christmas ( got an awsome deal at Costco... $125.oo for the table with 2 trundle drawers and 115 piece train set.. plus it's compatible with the thomas set so we can add on if needed) We got him a couple other things adn some clothes and his xmas is all done! (i'm really proud of myself that we are done him so early cause I hate looking for something last minute and not finding it becasue it is all sold out!)

But if anyone has any really cool ideas let me know.

coasterqueen replied:
Thank goodness I only got Kylie's for $10 when I saw it on sale because she doesn't really like it either. She plays the tunes every so often and will get on it every once in awhile but she has never really grasped the concept of it yet. That thing is WAY different then when I was a kid. They were easier then. These things these days are cheap!
