Whee, I get to have an annulment!

texasp3 wrote: Alright, this one is going down in the book of weird. I've been divorced for over 13 years! My ex and I have a pretty good relationship and we keep it decent for the sake of Michael.

I've been remarried for five years, and now my ex is engaged and getting remarried. Originally they were supposed to get hitched this fall. Some of you may have read my post about Michael having a freak-out fit when he realized that being the best man meant giving a speech! We fixed that problem.

But then today I get a call from my ex... and he starts in with his embarassed laugh and I'm thinking... UH-OH... where is this going???

Turns out his wife-to-be is Catholic. They are supposed to get properly married in a proper Catholic ceremony and they CAN'T unless his marriage to me is first annulled by the Catholic church! blink.gif Ohmygoodness... after all this time, after me getting remarried and having a baby... after all that... NOW we have to go through an annullment when neither of us are even Catholic? ROFLMAO!!!! rolling_smile.gif Okay, okay... this is going to be a trip, I can tell. I'll totally cooperate with the process, I do really understand how important it is to her larger family that this be done right. But from my perspective, I can't help it, it's just a little funny!

Has anyone out there gone through an annullment, by any chance?

MomToMany replied: rolling_smile.gif LOL, I thought you were going to say you guys were still married!

That IS funny! Sorry, I've never had one!

mammag replied:

emlaugh.gif That's what I was thinking too!

That is pretty darn funny though.....I guess what ever they need to do. rolleyes.gif

Celestrina replied: rolling_smile.gif Ah, there are certain things I don't miss about being Catholic! emlaugh.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: laugh.gif I'm still laughing over this one! rolling_smile.gif

loveydad replied: Well that's interesting!

devinsmommy replied: I've gotta say after having a bad night and reading that one...I can't stop laughing. ROFL... Gotta tell hubby this one...

5littleladies replied: Lol!! rolling_smile.gif That's kind of ridiculous. tongue.gif

Alice replied: I'm Catholic, and I'm pretty sure that if his marriage to you wasn't in a Catholic Church, it isn't a problem. Tell him to have his fiance check before they go through the time and expense.

texasp3 replied:
No kidding... that was my first question... and his too apparently. Turns out the Catholic church recognizes ANY church wedding (how generous of them) and thus requires that the marraige be annulled through their process before the individual involved that union can go on to be married in a Catholic ceremony.

Happymomof2 replied: Of course they require it to go through their process. The church charges a BIG old fee for annulments.

A&A'smommy replied: OMG that is funny especially since your not cathlic!! rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: seems a bit on the redulicous side....but Igues hwat ever they need for them to feel good about marring them, just sounds like a ploy to get money to me

Josie83 replied: Gosh Marie, the word farce springs to mind! How weird is that? but then, I know better than most how weird the Catholic church can be wink.gif rolleyes.gif Its a good thing you're on such good terms with your ex! xxx
