When did the bed rails come off?

coasterqueen wrote: We finished the 1st phase of re-doing Kylie's bedroom so she finally gets to sleep in there again. happy.gif She decided tonight that she did not want her bed rails back on her bed. unsure.gif Soooo, we took them off even though I'm extremely nervous about it. When I tucked her in I made sure she was in the middle of her bed...not like that's gonna help. rolleyes.gif Her bed is so high off the ground it makes me nervous.

So what age did the bed rails come off for your little one?

luvbug00 replied: Mya had hers off at 3. she is a horazontal sleeper though. not matter how vertical you put her she ends up horozontal so not many rolls off the bed. i think now should be ok but Just in case maybe pillow up the floor by the bed just in case. wink.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Around 2.5 maybe? I really can't remember blush.gif I know they weren't on there long b/c she hated them. rolleyes.gif

Jamison'smama replied: We had Jamison's bed against one wall from the beginning (age 2) and we didn't use rails, we moved her bed out about 5 months ago ( age 3) and is open on both sides---no rails.

kimberley replied: bed rails?? lol sorry, Jade has never really used hers. from the age of 2 she hasn't and has only fallen out once because she rolled. that's all it took for her not to do it again lol. i think Kylie should be ok. maybe get a body pillow or big stuffed animal to keep on the one side for a while.

luvmykids replied: Around 3 for the twins but I think Macie will be earlier, she knocks herself on them all night and wakes up crying. But she sleeps fine in a bed with out them and doesn't roll off at all. Doesn't make sense but I guess thats just how it is with her.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Olivia still has hers on. When we are somewhere else, we don't take them, though, and she's fine. Funny you posted this~I just asked her last night if she wanted me to take it down but she said no.

ediep replied: Jason's bed is against one wall so I just have one rail. He probabaly doesn't need it, but since he doesn't mind, I'll keep it on a while longer

AlexsPajamaMama replied: Alex's Spider Man toddler bed has bedrails right on it. They are plastic, along with the head board and foot board

3_call_me_mama replied: cameron never had them. he's fallen out once i hink. But his bed is pretty low.
Kathleen had teh top bunk of a bunk bed that is just taken off. The rail is permanently attached to teh bed so ti cant' really come off. It'll be on there until we switch her into Cameorn's bed (the lower half of teh bunk) and then he's getting a full size (he is too wiggly for a twin adn wakes up as soon as his foot or anythign hangs over teh edge (even when he's tried to sleep in hers with the rail)
So the top bed will get put away for when teh baby is ready for a bed.

booey2 replied: Both boys beds are against a wall, we did rail the one side and it came down around 2.5 or 3. Matthew fell out once, and Thomas still falls out but climbs back up into bed. Their beds are singles from a set of old bunk beds and are really close to the ground, about 6 inches at most. Good luck, by the way her room is beautiful. love2.gif

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Katy was just before she turned two and Matt was probably 18 months.

coasterqueen replied: You know I never gave Kylie a chance to fall out of her bed, kwim? As soon as we put her in that high bed I put the bed rails on immediately. blush.gif Funny thing is she never fell out of ours, well once, and she never fell off the couch when she used to sleep on it. Guess I was being a bit overprotective. blush.gif She sure let me know yesterday that she wasn't having them on ANYMORE! laugh.gif Course I made Dh go back there a few times to make sure she hadn't fallen out of bed last night. She actually didn't move an inch from where I left her the first time. wub.gif

JP&KJMOM replied: Just a suggestion ~ if you are super worried put a small pillow or rolled up blanket on each side of her. We did this with Karlee at 2 and she usually just snuggles up next to it like it is one of us. I also keep a body pillow on the floor just in case she does go past it.

Kaitlin'smom replied: never used them, she fell once from her current tollder bed and I had BIG floor pillow there for the longest time. No nothing. She sleeps in bigger beds with out them and does fine. If your worried pillows on the floor till you know she is okay.

Boo&BugsMom replied: We never used them either. Tanner fell out of bed once or twice and that's all it took. We did put a pillow by his bedside though for awhile, since we have hardwood floors in the bedrooms.
