A) I can't wait to hear my baby!
cool.gif We're heading off for a trip during when I would be 10-11 weeks, and I want to have it before then...

I'm just curious, when did everyone here have their first doc appt.? I know Renee said that in New Zealand it's 10-13 weeks (I'm pretty sure that's what she said at least)...

When was your first appointment with new pregnancies?

1lilpeanut2love replied: I believe I was 8 weeks pregnant. My doctor didn't want anyone to be seen before than because I guess of the risk of MC. I wish I could have been seen before that though. I loved, loved hearing the heartbeat!! love2.gif wub.gif smile.gif

kayla's mama replied: Well since I m/c my first at 8 weeks, my Dr. wanted me in the day I found out to make sure my hormones were in check. She said that is not normal practice but since we tried for 4 yrs then m/c she wanted to make sure that I was going to keep this one. After the first appt. I was seen about every 2 weeks for the first trimester. Which I didn't mind because I got to my baby everytime wub.gif

ashtonsmama replied: Thanks-sounds like I'm right on track!

ilovemybaby replied: 12-14 weeks... I was 13 plus.
Don't freak out if you don't hear babys heartbeat. It might be a little early. It's really hard for them to find it even. At my last appointment (17 weeks) it took her about two minutes (that's really a long time when you are waiting....) to find the heartbeat. I was starting to worry there. unsure.gif

ashtonsmama replied:
I thought you were the one who had your first appt. at 10 weeks? No? Maybe I'm remembering wrong! Sorry-anyways, I realize I may not hear it the first couple times, but I'm so looking forward to that first special time!

It'll be hard to be patient!

Cece00 replied: oh, pretty much right away

btw its probably unlikely you will hear anything before 10 wks

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I had my first US at 6 weeks to confirm the PG, but didn't really have my first real OB appt until maybe 10-12 weeks.

ilovemybaby replied: It is soooo hard! I know. I only have one more week to go before I have my US and hopefully this time will get to find out the sex.... gonna eat lots of chocolate. happy.gif

ashtonsmama replied:

You better stock up on that chocolate now! Have fun at the appt.! Are you going to tell us when you find out?!?

EvesMom replied: I went for mine at 6 weeks, because I had 2 prior M/C.

My3LilMonkeys replied: My Dr.'s standard is 8 wks. They do an US to confirm pg and basic health checkup.

NEWMOM05 replied: I had mine as soon as we found out because my first pg was a m/c. So the Dr. wanted me started on Progesterone right away.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: First appointment was at 8 weeks. And it is very unlikely that you will "hear" a heartbeat before 10 or 11 weeds. You could "see" it on ultrasound, though.

ashtonsmama replied: That all makes sense...I think I first really "saw" Ashton around 10 or so weeks, and heard the heartbeat then also...but who knows with this baby?!?

Heather77 replied: My doctor sees patients between 6-12 weeks. My first two were at about 6 weeks, and this one was at 13 weeks. I had to wait this time b/c we were in the middle of changing insurance and to be covered, I had to wait until the new one kicked in.

Edward's Mommy replied: Mine was at 13 weeks because I didn't have insurance and I had a bicornate uterus so the doctor's office I went to had to take me because of it. Thankfully they took medicaid!

luvmykids replied: With the twins I was at 12 weeks, the doc kept saying "Are you sure about your dates? You look bigger than that." So he did the u/s and said "Aahhh, I see. There are 2" I said "Are you kidding?" He said "Yeah, just kidding, there are three." ohmy.gif laugh.gif

Macie about 10 weeks.

We usually see patients like 10-12 weeks and sometimes 10 is too early to hear heartbeat on your belly. But at 6 weeks you should be able to see/hear it on u/s but definelty not on your belly for a while. Good luck! baby.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: With Andrew I had an appointment really early just to confirm that I was pg pretty much... they didn't do anything but ask me some questions and do a blood test. Then I had my first real appointment at 8 weeks. I had an ultrasound and saw the baby's heartbeat. I didn't hear it because the u/s machine was a portable one and they didn't have it hooked up for sound but the doctor said that I'd probably be able to hear it if they had. I'm not sure why you can hear it through a u/s that soon but not through the doppler. unsure.gif Maybe because I had a trans vaginal u/s I guess.

With this one my first appointment is in 2 weeks - I'll be 8 weeks along. happy.gif

LoganAndAubreesMommy replied: I was about 7.5 to 8 weeks for both of mine.

A&A'smommy replied: well mine was alittle late but that is just because it took some time to get everything together for it.. but I was bout 13 weeks I think.

ashtonsmama replied: Looks like everyone's different then...thanks for sharing!

I'm really excited!
