When did your kids start walking??

My friend's daughter (her third) is just about 18 months old (born 1/31/06) and is still not walking. She doesn't act like she wants to try. She did take about 2-3 steps at a party I had on Saturday. She will "walk" just fine if you hold her hands, and she pulls herself up on furniture. She walks really well on her knees, but that's about it.
She said people at church have asked her if she's taken her (Allison) to the doctor. But she says there isn't anything wrong with her, she CAN walk, she just won't.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Hummm. Does mom carry her a lot so she knows she doesn't have to? If not, I would wonder too and possibly take her to the ped. Tanner walked right after his 1st birthday. Most kids start walking by about 1 year or sooner and are "usually" walking on their own by 15 months or soon after.
hoosier momma replied: My son didn't walk on his own until about 16 months. He would pull up and walk around things or with help but never on his own until then. I asked my doctor about it at both his 12 and 15 month appointments and he said we would worry about it after 18 months. Thankfully we have nothing to worry about now.
DansMom replied: Daniel was 11 months, but my niece was 18 months. Same niece also potty-trained at 4 instead of 3. She does things her own way on her own schedule. I don't think pediatricians even start worrying until about 18 months.
Aubrey's mama replied: My daughter is 17 months and still needs help walking. She holds onto your fingers for balance. She will pull herself up and walk around furniture, etc. She didn't start crawling w her belly off the floor until she was 10 or 11 months. She didn't start taking steps until she was a little after a year old... my friend's daughter is a little older (bd 1/5/06) and she was been walking since she was 10 months or so. every kid is different. It's hard but I wouldn't worry about it~it's almost better if they don't walk right away so they don't get into everything.
BAC'sMom replied: DS#1 - 11 months DD - 12 months DS#2 - 9 months
ediep replied: Jason was mabout 14 months or so when he was walking
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I don't remember exactly..but i think zach was 10 1\2 months, Emilie was about 7 months, and Naomie was 8 or 9 months...
ediep replied: wow!! so young!!! Emma is almost 8 months and I could not imagine her walking!
Calimama replied: Wow! Come over and work on Bella. Jk!
PrairieMom replied: Benjamin was walking at 9 months, and Al was walking at 13 months.
Mommy2Isabella replied: Bella walks when she forgets that she is scared. She walks across the living room, and especially to Daddy when he gets home! She is 11months. She started taking her first steps a few weeks ago!
Bamamom replied: T walked at 9 months. I joke that KG's feet won't touch the floor til she's at least a year!
BabyOwen427 replied: He took his first 'official' steps on Memorial day when he was 1 year, 1 month, and 1 day old. I say official steps because he would take one or two steps away from whatever he was holding on to for a while but he didnt' take many consective steps in a row until then.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Wil didn't walk until 17.5 months. Ped said not to worry until 18 months. A friend's daughter was in PT because she couldn't walk after turning 18 months. I think she may have finally walked around 20 months or so, maybe a bit sooner.
Wesley is a little over a year and not even crawling. He army crawls and gets up on all four sometimes, but of course not close to walking yet. I'm not worried. Especially because Wil was so late.
lovemy2 replied: Olivia was exactly one week after her first birthday - she just got up and walked across the room!!
Dylan well he is only 6 1/2 months - almost 7 months and we are still working on keeping lazy bones sitting up - he much prefers laying on his back sucking his toes:)
My3LilMonkeys replied: Brooke walked at 8 months, so I kind of freaked out when Madison didn't start walking until 15 months....the ped said that anything before 18 months is fine.
stella6979 replied: Avery started walking on her first birthday.
grapfruit replied: If I remember she started crawling pretty late too (although she's REALLY good and fast at it now). I also notice that she's MUCH quieter then my niece. Although she could just be a loud mouth like the rest of her family. Love ya Cyndi!
I don't think Tiff picks her up and carrys her a lot, probably more of the opposite, she's always chasing around the other two! I can't remember when her son started walking (the oldest) but I'm pretty sure her other daughter walked before her first birthday (like a week, maybe more?)
I guess it's just strange, especially to watch her w/Alyx. Because at 14 1/2 months Alyx is literally running (she's so cute when she runs, especially after the puppy) circles around her. And talks SO much more (and w/a larger vocabulary).
