When will AF return? - return of AF while BFing
Guest_MamaMartie wrote: Hi Everyone
I'm sorry I haven't been here for a while b/c my online time has been very limited and my dialup service stinks.
Hannah is 8 months old now and doing fantastic. She rolls to get where she want to go and recently learned to sit all by herself. She is still BF about 5 times a day (3 big feedings and 2 snacks) plus she eats table food 3 times a day. She is wonderful and we all love her dearly.
Here is my gripe: AF has not reared her ugly head yet. Not that I particularly like getting AF, but I've had the baby urge since about 30 seconds after Hannah was born. She is just a really great baby and I can't wait to have another one.
I am starting to get really paraniod that my fertility will never come back. I had always heard that one you go under 6 feeding a day that AF and your fertility come back. Well if that is true then it should have been back 4 months ago.
I know I should just be patient, but I am not a patient person. I know I am not pg, and haven't had the slightest sign of even ovulating. So what is the deal?
TIA!
DansMom replied: Mine came back at the six month mark, but some people take a whole year or more. I think everyone is different. Be patient, I'm guessing you will get a visit (or visitation more like!) within the next few months.
Jamison'smama replied: 13 months here
kit_kats_mom replied: I got my first one at 14 months. Had a light one at 15 mos & nothing since. Not very regular. I wouldn't be too worried.
MomToMany replied: Hi MamaMartie!!
I didn't get AF back until 11 months PP, and I got PG at the 14 month PP mark. My Hannah nurses like crazy (STILL!!). She can't get enough ! But everyone is diferent, so it's hard to say exactly when AF will show up again.

Here's a link from Kelly's site explaining BFing and the return of fertility.
HTH!!
paradisemommy replied: sorry no help here..i got mine back about 3 or 4 months after and my ds nurses like a maniac...but everyone is different....hope you get yours soon!!
CantWait replied: hi there thanks for the update, sounds like everyone is doing well. I'm glad Hannah is growing up to be such a good baby. She sounds like a big little girl.
Anthony is now 6 months old and I haven't had AF yet, I've had spotting for the past 3 weeks or so but probably only because I got the depo shot. Good Luck on TTC
jem0622 replied: Mine did not return until I totally weaned. Everyone's body is different. But I was fertile once I began to drop sessions even if I hadn't seen AF.
coasterqueen replied: Mine came back a week before DD turned 10 months. I wished mine would have stayed away alittle longer, lol.
aspenblue1 replied: Mine came back at 11 months.
jcc64 replied: FYI- I believe fertility and AF has more to do with how many hours lapse between bf sessions rather than the amount of times per day you bf.
MommyToAshley replied: ITA. I read that once the baby starts sleeping throught the night, you have a greater chance of AF returning. And sure enough, as soon as Ashley started sleeping a 6 hour stretch, my AF returned. It was around 4 months for me.
kimberley replied: with Jacob i bled for 2 months after he was born and AF never really returned but i apparently ovulated b/c i got pg when he was 8mos old with James it came back at about 6mos and Jade i got what could be considered AF last month but nothing since. the boys were BF until 13 mos and i plan to go that long or longer with Jade too. it is different with every mom and every new baby.
3_call_me_mama replied: mine came back at 9 months, but was scattered until about 11 months. And I just recently found out htat our second bundle on joy will be arriving in early september! EDD 9/11/04!!! So i ended up getting pregnant around 13 months! Good luck.....
Guest replied: Thanks for all the replies. I guess the arrival of AF really depends on the person. I am not planning to wean Hannah any time soon so I'll just hope my fertility comes back any way.
It sounds like I can feel more hopeful after she turns a year old. By then she might be down to 2-3 feedings judging by the way she is getting teeth and wanting table food now.
Hey maybe I'll get pg w/o even seeing AF...that would be lovely to go years w/o seeing her.
Thanks again for all the information!
