When you voted - did they ask for ID?

msoulz wrote: At our polling place they don't ask for ID, so any woman about my age who knows my birth date and address could vote in my place. blink.gif Is this the case in most places?

amynicole21 replied: Hmmmm... I just handed them my voter ID and drivers license - don't know if they would have asked for it if I didn't offer it up though unsure.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I am like Amy Nicole, I handed mine over without being prompted. I knew I would need it and it was in my hand anyhow, all I had to do was confirm my street addy, and sign.

coasterqueen replied: Same here. I walked up there with my voter registration card and that was it. Although I live in a small township where most of us know each other.

Kaitlin'smom replied: state law here now that ID is required. I had mine ready, but did hear them ask several.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Ohio JUST started requiring ID with this election. Personally, I've always thought it odd not to require it, as well. I always showed up with my voters registration card and they always laughed at me and said "Yeah, like we don't know you!" I live in a tiny town so I know all the poll workers but obviously not everyone does.

lesliesmom replied: I was thinking the same thing. They never asked for my ID or Voter Registration card. Just looked up my name and that was it. I thought it was kind of odd, I had my ID ready and everything but they never once looked at anyones.

Our Lil' Family replied: Our state doesn't require our voter reg. card, just pictured ID.

Did you hear about the governor that didn't have his card so they sent him away and couldn't vote until he got a new one?!

msoulz replied:
LOL!! There's something just right about that. He probably spent so much time pressing the flesh that he forgot. The irony!!!

What we have to do here is fill out a piece of paper (application to vote, or something like that) with the afore mentioned information. They take that paper and match it with a voter list, then they highlight the person's name so they can't vote twice. I guess voting twice is worse than someone else voting in one's name!

gr33n3y3z replied: nope everyone knows everyone in town I just show up and everyone is saying hello by your name Its nice I like that smile.gif

Heather77 replied: I had to hand over my DL and voter ID card.

MommyToAshley replied: Ohio here too, so, yes we had to have ID. Although, they still have my maiden name listed and I have filled out a new card at every election since we got married. rolleyes.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: They didn't ask for our ID, just asked if we were registered to vote, which we were since our address hasn't changed since the elections in 2004, and looked us up in the book and had us sign. I was kind of expecting them to ask for my driver's license, but we don't have voter id cards here. unsure.gif

A&A'smommy replied: yes I had to show them my id

lisar replied: Yes they asked me for my ID and they have never seen my Voter Registration card. They have never asked for it.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Nope, they didn't ask. They do ask when you register, but if you are already registered they don't. So, any illegal alien or Tom, Dick, and Harry can go up and give my name and vote for me! Makes NO SENSE! Heaven forbid they take the extra 15 seconds it takes to look at an ID.

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: No they didn't ask. They asked for my name and that was it.
