Where I've been... - (got pretty sick)

MommyToAshley wrote: Hi all! Sorry I haven't been around much. DH and I left Thursday and took the weekend off to go to a huge lan party and the WSVG (world series of video gaming) event in Kentucky. If anyone is interested, it will be televised on July 29th.

On the car ride home, I started feeling bad... really bad. Then, I got this weird taste in my mouth, and got really dry mouth. I started feeling light headed (like I was going to pass out) and then I got this numb feeling all over. The light-headed feeling and numbness would come in waves. It was a pretty scary feeling, so DH stopped at the nearest hospital. They did blood work, and an EKG because they said my heartbeat was a bit irregular. They also started an IV because they thought I might have been dehydrated (which I knew I wasn't as I had drank a ton of water). The EKG came out fine, but the blood work showed that my white count was high. They concluded it was some sort of virus. I felt bad and rested all day yesterday. I am feeling a bit better today, but I am going to follow-up with a family doctor. I am still not convinced it was a virus... it was a pretty scary feeling as I have never felt like that from a virus (or anything for that matter).

So, anyways... I am back. I am feeling a bit better, but probably won't be around much because now all that work has piled up from the past few days.

Mommy2Isabella replied: hug.gif I hope you feel better soon!

gr33n3y3z replied: Welcome back I remember you saying you were going but forgot when lol

maybe you had a Seizure or Anxiety Attack bc both can give you the bad taste in your mouth before hand.

Was it a metallic taste?

You get better

MommyToAshley replied:
The doc asked the same thing. No, it wasn't metallic. I don't even know how to describe the taste. But, I did get a super, super dry taste in my mouth afterwards.

lovemy2 replied: How scary for you - hope you feel better soon hug.gif

msoulz replied: My Dh had something similar one day. He called me at work to come home and take him to the hospital because he thought he was having a heart attack (scared the crud out of me, it was a 45 minute drive home and my son was about 18 months old). He was laying on the floor when I got home and could hardly get up, then when he did he was so dizzy he took forever to get to the car. When we got to the ER he started throwing up horribly, even bile was coming up. And it was the same diagnosis, a virus. He was better in a few days.

It was terribly scary but he did recover fairly quickly. I hope the same for you!

gr33n3y3z replied:
I would go to my family Dr and have them do tests
that is so scary and you take it easy until you see the Dr

lisar replied: I hope you feel better soon.

jcc64 replied: A seizure or an anxiety attack wouldn't affect the white blood cell count.
Do you guys have any parasite situations in Ohio- like Lyme or something like that?
I would ask your doc for a full blood panel if you're still feeling "off", Dee Dee.
Drs always say a "virus" when they can't attribute it to anything else. Of course, that's probably b/c that's what it most often is, and probably was in your case as well. But, if you're still feeling badly, then I'd ask for further testing.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I was worried about you when they told me you were taken to the hospital. I am glad your doing better. Let me know if I can do anything for you.

a few asked sure your not PG? blush.gif

moped replied: Gosh that is scary - you described it very much like when I was in the hospital a couple of months ago - just like that and they also said a virus.....I hope you are 100% very soon!

luvmykids replied: OMGosh, how scary. I hope it goes away soon, I'm glad you're following up with your doctor! hug.gif

There is some case of Lyme Dis. and even some West Nile Virus that's been found. I think Greene County and maybe Montgomery there were some cases. I don't know where she lives though.

Anyway you cut, that's scary!!!! hug.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: I hopr you feel better Dee Dee! That sounds scary ohmy.gif I will be praying for you! hug.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Thanks everyone. hug.gif

I just got back from the doc... the doc agreed that I had a virus of some sort. But, I also have a sinus and ear infection. I most likely had the sinus and ear infection first and since my immune system was down, I caught the virus as well. I am on antibiotics for the sinus and ear infection. It's weird, my ears didn't even hurt. I did have a headache though. Just thought I would update you all.

coasterqueen replied: The dizziness could have been caused from the ear infection, kwim?

Sounds scary, though. I hate when something like that happens out of the blue, because you wonder what is going on. I know that feeling all to well. I'm glad you are doing better and hope you continue to get well quick. hug.gif hug.gif

I hope Rod and Ashley didn't get the virus, either. p&pt's coming your way that they don't. hug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: everything at once huh? glad your doing better and you followed up with your doc. I am guessing they have no idea what kind of virus. hug.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Dee Dee~ I hope you feel much better soon.
It was a good thing that Rod was able to get you to a hospital quickly.

Many hugs for a speedy recovery! hug.gif hug.gif
