Where can I find $$ fast!?
MyBabeMaddie wrote: Uh oh - I finally got my book list for school - for this first semester I need 8 books and I looked up different book stores on campus as well as places online I need to come up with $700 within 2 weeks!!!! I am totally broke and we don't have any spare $$ right now to buy $700 worth of books!! My mom is being tight with her money now cause she is back to school and isn't working too much and my dad is really really cheap!? I am seriously considering walking around the neighborhood seeing if anyone wants their driveways shoveled! Any ideas?
cameragirl21 replied: i suggest applying for a loan through the school...that is a lot of money to come up with in a couple of weeks and it's just for books. if this is the only loan you get, even if it's every semester, you won't be in too much debt when you finish and you won't have to worry about coming up with the money in the next 2 weeks either.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I agree with the student loans. Now a days, there aren't many ways to get around not having a student loan unless parents foot the bill. We have student loans, and our kids probably will too. You can apply for minor loans, just for the amount you need for the books. You also usually do not have to pay them back until after you are out of school. I suggest you talk to a financial aid advisor at your school! They can help you out.
TheOaf66 replied: you can go to your bank and get an unsecured loan, if it is under $1,000 usually they are ok as long as your credit isn't horrible and you have some income. It is a higher interest then a secured loan but it works well in a pinch
PrairieMom replied: what about blood donation? It isn't much $, but it is at least a start! plus you would be helping out someone that needs it!
TheOaf66 replied: or Plasma too
Boo&BugsMom replied: I was just going to say that! We use to do that in college. Easy money plus you are helping people. Just don't go and get banned like Troy did.
Calimama replied: Student loans would probably be your best bet.
CantWait replied: You can clean houses.
Cece00 replied: Cleaning houses, babysitting a little...
Did you get a Pell grant? Those usually cover the cost of tuition AND some of your books.
If nothing else- student loans.
ZandersMama replied: You get paid in the US for donating blood? thats awsome!
mom2my2cuties replied: Ok First - Jeanie - How did Troy get banned from donating plasma??? I thought that was dang near impossible
Plasma pays about $40/week. With our current cash crunch, Andrew & I are seriously considering it. $80/week between the two of us would MORE than cover groceries for our family.
But I do think your best bet might be a student loan through the school or through the bank.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Don't they sell used copies?? That's what I bought while in college. Still expensive, but cuts the cost down significantly. Do they do that anymore? It's been 10 years since I was in college.
I think cleaning houses, dog walking, babysitting...are all great ideas!
gr33n3y3z replied: not here any more they use to but they got some umm lets say never mind not going there
But here no you dont get paid for giving anything like that.
gr33n3y3z replied: take out a small student loan
Jamison'smama replied: Most college libraries keep copies of each textbook if not for loan then for in-library use. It could help for a while so that you could at least stagger the purchase. Also, many times I have found that the books are rarely used and that tests etc. are from class notes. Also, check area libraries and half.com.
Kaitlin'smom replied: we dont get paid here either for giving blood.
paradisemommy replied: clean your house out and sell stuff on craigslist or have a garage sale..some man's junk is another man's treasure..
Boo&BugsMom replied: Well, he had some weird enzyme in his liver/blood (?) I guess. I don't know if it was from eating too much Taco Bell before he went or if it was from drinking too much alcohol the night before (college days). He also clogged the machine a few too many times.
Boo&BugsMom replied: We don't get paid for donating blood here either, but we do get paid for donating plasma. Some places even have a tetnus program where if you allow them to give you a tetnus shot (it boosts something in the plasma) they pay you extra for a certain amount of visits following the shot. I haven't done it since college, but I would consider doing it again if there were a clinic closer to us. The nearest one is way down in Milwaukee...no thanks.
MyLuvBugs replied: student loans and credit cards.....that's how I made it through school.
Calimama replied: Yes, here they still sell used copies! It's a ton cheaper!
Nina J replied: e-bay? You could sell some stuff.
