Where do you grocery shop? - Outta curiousity
Liz_Kaitlyns_Mama wrote: I do my main shopping at Wal-Mart but I don't buy my meat there. I go to Krogers or Winn Dixie for all of my meat. Does anyone else's Super Wal-Mart sell meat (like ground chuck, porkchops, steak) in black 'containers' with plastic rap over the top? Darrell and I think their meat just doesn't taste right...especially the hambrgr meat and it doesn't look right when it cooks either...
luvbug00 replied: I don't trust fresh ANYTHING from any chain store ( walmart, target) so I get most of my dried goods from target and the rest from giant or harris teeters ( hairy t**ys I call it) or shoppers.
Our Lil' Family replied: Yep, WalMart here too. Just got back actually. We buy our meat at WalMart mostly because that's our only choice for quite a few miles. But if we want some good steaks or have a BBQ we go to Albertson's.
mckayleesmom replied: I shop at the commissary on post...we get great discounts on meat and other stuff. The one time we shopped off post at Kroger....I paid more for half the amount of groceries I usually get. Im so happy that their is a Navy base nearby that I can shop at.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I do buy meat at Walmart on occasion, but it's mostly chicken and ground turkey. For red meat, I try and go to Whole Foods. But I have been buying an eye of round roast at Walmart lately and it's actually really good! I coat it with kosher salt, slow roast it and then cut it thin...DH loves it!
3xsthefun replied: I go to Wal Mart & Save A Lot and do my grocery shopping. I can't afford buy meat from Krogers, they are usually too over priced on a lot of their stuff.
kit_kats_mom replied: I avoid Wal Mart like the plague.
Most of our groceries come from either Publix or Super Target. We also shop at Sweet Bay occasionally.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Walmart. I stopped getting ground turkey there because one time I got it home and cooked it and it was wierd looking and tasting and wicked dry.
Occasionally I get meat at Shaw's, but its way more expensive than meats at Wally Mart.
CantWait replied: I mostly shop at Walmart for frozen or dried foods. We don't have a super Walmart here in Canada, so for meat and fruits and vegs I shop at a variety of other stores.
Is Albertsons really as good as the comercials make it look??
luvmykids replied: I love Smiths, they have awesome produce and great meat with good prices too. But for better meats, like steaks or holiday type stuff, I go to this independant family run organic store. Pricey, but I guarantee you will not find better meat anywhere.
PrairieMom replied: Walmart here too. We actually get most of our beef from DH's parents tho. They usually give us 1/2 a cow for christmas.
Brias3 replied: Only place within a 5-mile vicinity here to grocery shop is an actual grocery store. There's a Super Wal-mart about twenty minutes away but five grocery stores right in town so I only go to actual grocers.
mammag replied: I pretty much get it all at Walmart. I haven't had any issues with the meat yet but I am particular about it when I pick it out. If it doesn't look deep red I don't buy it.
I am conflicted right now about where I want to grocery shop. I'm getting frustrated with Walmart because many of the staples that I buy (egg bagels, rice pilaf, some of my Healthy Choice meals, etc.) they have quit selling there. I don't get it because it seemed like they always went off the shelves fast so I must not be the only one buying them. I end up having to go to two stores.
The problem is that Kroger is so much more expensive for many of the things I buy. Who wants to spend an extra $1 for the same exact loaf of bread?? They are close so I could go to both but that is a pain in the but when you have several kids following behind. Chris said maybe we should go to Aldi again but then I'd probably end up going to 3 different stores.
I am so sick of grocery shopping. I need to get a lot of money and then have someone else do the shopping for me and bring it to my house....
J-rod replied: used to go to wallmart....but spent way too much $$$$. steph has taught me how to shop. go to shop-n-save...or save-a-lot....and i have started cutting our bfood bill in half and getting more for the money.
gr33n3y3z replied: Stop and shop Super fresh Shop Rite Acme when I have to very over priced
lisar replied: I shop at Publix.
KingMom replied: We use Costco for almost all meets and lots of fresh fruit, eggs, milk and salads. We also buy a good bit of dry goods there.
We also shop Walmart though for the rest.
Two stops is a pain but the big chain here is Ukrops, which is way overpriced, but they bag and take to your car, offer childcare while you shop, and lots of other amenities if you desire.
Many other choices but I'd prefer to keep it to two stops only. We have Target just starting to carry more food, Kroger, and smaller local chains in the country like IGA or the like.
boyohboyohboy replied: I also avoid walmart, and shop at giant, but we go to an outlet store that sells stuff that is about to expire for great deals!
TheOaf66 replied: I get my beef from a farmer, doesn't get any fresher than that
