Where does your child/chilren sleep?
Crystalina wrote: I just answered a thread that got me wondering...where do your children or child sleep? Izabella slept with DH and I from day one (Ive never owned a crib) and then when Evan got here he joined us. Now they each have a toddler bed in our bedroom and sleep there. My thing is that their bedrooms are across the house and I'm not ready for them to be sleeping so far away (just in case of a fire or some other emergency.)
ilovemybaby replied: Abby has her own room right next to ours. But this next baby may be in our room for awhile. We only have two rooms.
Jamison'smama replied: Jamison sleeps in her room--DH usually ends up there with her and Jack sleeps with me.
Momof3inMe replied: My boys share a room and Emily has her own room. Emily doesn't sleep in her bed all night most of the time! She will end up with us. I am not a big fan of this but it's something DH has done. All three of them sleep up stairs
kayla's mama replied: Kayla is upstairs in her room and we are downstairs.
luvbug00 replied: Mya co slept until she was 4.5 and has had her own bed ever since and her room is mine right now but at the apartment she had her own room.
Edward's Mommy replied: When we brought Edward home from the hospital, he slept in a bassinet until he was 2 months old. At 2 months, we put him in the crib, but he wasn't interested in it. Now he sleeps with us. I'm trying to get him into is crib which where the bassinet was...right next to me. But he's not having it!
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Alex has his own room right next to ours. We used to live in a one bedroom apartment and his crib was in our room, but when he turned a year old we moved to a 2 bedroom apartment. He has always slept in his crib
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Wil sleeps in his own room. The new baby will sleep in our room in a bassinett for several months and then move to the nursery (that's how I have it planned, but we will see).
Heather77 replied: We co-sleep. Jake movd into his own bed about 1 1/2 years ago (but it's still in our room ), and Shane is still in bed with us. Not sure what the plans are for the new baby though.... I think I might put the porta crib by my side of the bed to start. We have two other bedrooms.... one is being utilized as the toy room and the other is the guest room for now. That's where the kids dressers and clothes are though.
My3LilMonkeys replied: My girls share a room at the front of the house. Our bedroom is in the back of the house.
luvmykids replied: At the moment they all start out in their own beds, in their own rooms but you never know what you may find throughout the night. Usually anywhere from one of them to all three wander to our room, but I've also found Colt on the couch in the morning, Macie in the tub (with pillow and blanket, no water) in the middle of the night (talk about freaking you out ...) and Kylie has been known to make a bed on the floor of her closet.
Edward's Mommy replied: You kiddos go all over!
EvesMom replied: For the first 2 months Evelynn slept ina bassinet next to our bed. After that she now sleeps in her crib across the hall in her bedroom.
Brias3 replied: They each have their own room near our bedroom upstairs.
1lilpeanut2love replied: Kaylee sleeps in her crib in our room. She has been in her crib since she was about 4 months. From birth-4 months she slept in her bassinet that was in her pack&play. She has her own room, but I'm just nervous for her to be by herself. I am a very paranoid person. We think that when she turns one in a few weeks we will put her crib in her own room. I'm scared.
She has never slept with us in our bed. Once in a blue moon she will take a nap with us in our bed. It is so uncomfortable. I don't/ can't move with her in the bed. My SO is also a heavy sleeper. It is just not for us!!
EvesMom replied: I was nervous at first also. But I keep the monitor right by my head when I sleep, so if she wakes, I'm all over her like flies on poop! (Sorry, I'm a little off today)
paradisemommy replied: when dh is home from work then he will normally sleep with taven either in taven's room or our room - i'm with skyler in our spare bedroom..otherwise, taven will sleep by himself in our room or his room but will occasionally wander to our room where i usually make a little bed for him right by our bed since he's a wild sleeper and i'm scared of him hurting skyler.
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley slept in a bassinet until about 2 months and then she went to a crib. Her room is visible from our bedroom. Just before her third birthday, we converted the crib to a toddler bed.
coasterqueen replied: Kylie coslept with us forever, lol, and finally when I got pg with Megan we started trying to get her to sleep in her own room. She'll sleep just about everywhere else but her room, lol. At the moment she falls asleep in the basement w/Dh. Then he moves her to her bed. About 11 pm she makes her way to the couch and then by 4 am she's in our bed (or so DH says).
Megan and I cosleep. Used to cosleep in my bed with the occasion in her amby, but now we cosleep on the floor in her bedroom. She spends 1/2 the night with me and 1/2 the night in her crib.
It's just utter chaos at our house when it comes to the bed situation, but we like it like that.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Logan has slept in his own room, in his crib, from day one. Well actually day six, we had a trip to the children's hospital from day 3-day 6. Anyhow, his room is right across the hall from ours, I can hear him without a baby monitor, but we have one anyway.
CantWait replied: Well Robbie slept with me for the longest time, Ron is away a lot. Anthony has his own room, and either falls asleep in his room and joins me through the night, or he falls alseep in my bed, and then I put him in his when I go to bed, then somehow he gets back in there with me.
CAMSMOM1 replied: Cam slepted in a bassinet for 2 months, then in a swing his room till he was 5 months, then we moved him into his crib, and that's where he's been ever since. We are going to convert his crib into a toddler bed soon.
His bedroom is right next to ours.....and we have a baby monitor on during the night, incase he wakes up.
Nina J replied: Emily has her own room. She sleeps in our bed sometimes, but she prefers her own room. It's got all of her care bears and stuffed animals, her books and other kiddy things and she lays in bed and looks at her bookshelf. I actually think it comforts her to go to sleep in such a child friendly environment. It's 2 doors down from our bedroom, so it's fairly close to us in case of anything happening.
NEWMOM05 replied: Kathryn slept in abassinet in our room until she turned 3 months. Now she sleeps in her crib in her nursery slightly down the hall.
I so agree. Our monitor is literally duct taped to the headboard so I hear it. Dh hates it, but it was his idea.
MM'sMama replied: They each have there own room. But I still sometimes bring Caroline into a crib in our room.
MamaJAM replied: The girls sleep in the converted-attic bedroom. DD#1 has her own 'private' section of the room (we made 'walls' of the dressers and a curtain hanging from the ceiling). The other two girls share a bunk-bed (they're getting a loft & lower bed soon). The boys also share a bedroom. Though they each have their own beds - they sleep on a mattress on the floor by their door. Since we took the sides off their cribs - that's where they've been.
3xsthefun replied: My girls share a room.
Kaitlynn she slept in her own room since she was 3 months old.
Maegan, we had harder time with her. At first she slept in a bassinet, for a few weeks. But then one night I could not get her go to sleep in it at all. So she ended up sleeping with me one the couch for a few months, then we moved her into her pack and play. I think she slept in it for a long time, and then finally we got her moved into her crib. She only slept in her crib for 3- 4 months and started climbing out of it.
So she started sleeping with us or I'd put her on the couch. She slept on the couch probably for 6 months.
Finally, back in December we bought her a toddler bed, and she slept in it until February and then started sleeping in her twin bed on her own.
Cece00 replied: My kids sleep in their own rooms. I am not into co-sleeping, I like to skeep with my DH and only my DH. When Natalie was born & I was BF, she would occasionally sleep in our bed for a couple of hrs after she nursed in the middle of the night but only b/c I never realized I was getting up to get her, I was so tired....if I woke up enough to remember anything, I'd feed her out of the bed....that only lasted a few months, now she sleeps all night & in her own room. So, maybe a handful of times has a child slept in my bed, and I'd like to keep it that way
C&K*s Mommie replied: Our girls co-sleep with us, still. But I took Christian's mattress and put it on the daybed in the playroom, and lately she falls asleep there watching tv at night, then gets up to come to our room. I want to get a new bdrm suit, so if and when we do I want to have them back in their own room next to ours. They will sleep together for naps on the daybed, so I may have them sleeping together at night too.
mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee slept in her swing for the first 2 weeks, then she went straight into her bed. We did put her in the bassinet in our room the first 2 or 3 days and she HATED it. She went into her crib with no problems and she still only sleeps in her bed in her room.
Russell slept in the bassinett in the living room of our old house....we only had 2 bedrooms....and we were moving in a couple weeks anyways...my sister was staying with us and then my mom to help out too....so they were in there with him. He stayed in his bassinett when we moved here, but in his own room...then he got a crib and he has been in that ever since....he is still in the crib in his room and I don't think he will be leaving it anytime soon.
Mckaylee has only slept in our bed 2 times that I can think of and Russell never has.
3_call_me_mama replied: Well for the first 3 months or so they sleep partyl in teh bassinette and partly in bed with us. then they go to the crib or stay in our bed. Cameron never slept in teh crib. Hated it and cried everytime we put him in there. Refuse to sleep in a pack and play as well. Then for a while he slept in a bed inhis room 1/2 nights and then 1/2 nights in our bed. Currently he sleeps h1lf nights in his bed and 1/2 nights on a bed in our room with kathleen. Kathleen never liked ot sleep with us (probably too crowded!!!) except when she was sick. So she went to her crib at about 3-4 months and slept fine. At 9 months she started climbing out and slept with us. But at 12 months stopped and stayed in her crib. Then at about 14 months she refused to sleep in her room. So she slept with me and DH slept wiht cameorn and at about 16 months she got a twin bed and sleep in our room with Cameron in it. Somenights she'll fall asleep with me in bed and we move her. Most nights she just sleeps in her bed on her own. The reason we are all in one room is that our rooms are in teh basement and it's nt incredibly warm a tnight there. So we have a pellet stove that we run. It makes it toasty in teh main room and ust warm in teh other rooms. Since our bed is in teh main room it's the warmest and they liek to sleep where it's really warm. Also the light form teh stove is liek a big nightlight for them!
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: OUr two slept in a bassinet in our room for the first 6 weeks then moved to their own cribs in their own rooms. Now both are in twin beds still in their own rooms, Katy occasionally does make a bed on the floor of her closet but that is usually only at naps. This next one will be in a bassinet in our room in the begining then move to his/her own room...Until we know if it is a him/her we don't know where exactly the room will be.
oh yeah-the kids rooms are on the second story (like ours) but the opposite side.
ediep replied: jason sleeps in a bed in his own room
BAC'sMom replied: The older two sleep in their rooms, the youngest co-sleeps with me.
JP&KJMOM replied: Both of my kids go to sleep in my bed in the evenings and then I put them in their beds before Jason and I go to bed. Sometimes they get up during the night but not often and then when it is time to get up I carry them to my bed to wake up.
5littleladies replied: Maddie was in our room for almost a year due to the fact that we lived in a one bedroom apartment. Meg and Bri were both in our room for the first few months (I don't remember exactly how long) before moving in with Maddie. Lissa is still in our room in a playpen because I'm too wussy to get up at 6 and trek across the house to feed her. She will be sharing with Maddie who currently has her own room while Meg and Bri share, although they more often than not all end up sleeping in the same room.
ashtonsmama replied: Ashton's been with us, in the bed itself or in the thing (forget what that's called) attached to the bed...he can just roll over into the bed if he so chooses! We love it...so far!
Crystalina replied: I just wanted to make sure I was not the only one who had weird sleeping arrangements and now I see that I'm not. Especially after reading Karens (coasterqueen) post.
My mom thinks that because my children are in my room I'm emotionally scarring them for later in life. They have their own room but right now they are way too young and the room is way too far away.
My2Beauties replied: For the first few months Hanna would only sleep sitting up, she had reflux, so she either slept in her portable swing in our room at the foot of our bed or in her car seat next to our bed That baby slept like an angel in that thing. It was all we could do to not make her miserable. She slept in either one of those or her bassinette next to our bed until she was 5 months old, then after that she slept in her crib. For a while there in the middle of the night, especially after she turned 1, she ended up in our bed, but I could not sleep with her and Brian both in the bed, I never got any sleep, so we got out of that habit really fast. Then about 3-4 months ago we transitioned her into her big girl bed, so now she sleeps in a twin bed. She sleeps all night (knock on wood).
