Who has nicer stuff - Child 1 or 2?
Mommy2Isabella wrote: We ordered David's crib offline without seeing it in a store! It looks just like the photo, but you can't tell quality from a picture!
We put it together last night it took about 20 minutes. We spent HALF as much money on his as we did on Bella's and you can tell! I feel bad kind of like he is getting short changed because he is the second .. .
both of their cribs turn into full size beds. I was just wondering if your second baby has just as nice or nicer furniture than your first??
moped replied: You already got the bedding you posted about???? WOW
Jack officially has the nicest bedroom furniture in the house now! SO he wins big time!
TheOaf66 replied: they have the same stuff...crib and bouncy and many toys. We did get a different swing and highchair because we either threw away or sold Tanners. Not really better just different.
Mommy2Isabella replied: No Jen ... just the crib! I wish I had the bedding, I am going to look at paint tonight ...
Calimama replied: Aww, hun he's not going to be comparing whose crib is better.
Jamison'smama replied: They used the same crib--Jack still uses the dresser--Jamison has a little nicer furniture and a much larger room
luvbug00 replied: My secound will have it better then Mya. I was 17 and totally unprepared financially when i had mya. Now i am more stable and will be able to afford some nicer things for my future children. But mya has some really nice toddler clothes because of my parents and so my younger (girls) children will get those clothes. But as far as cribs and strollers my future children will be spoiled. ( i really want to get a pram for my next one. )
lovemy2 replied: Same stuff - all handed down to Dylan - crib, dresser and Olivia got all new so officially - Olivia has the better furniture and Dylan has all her old toys- except the really girly ones and a few new ones of his own...oh and Dylan got all new bedding - the set we had for Olivia would have been ok but I wanted him to at least have that new
Mommy2Isabella replied: I would have passed her stuff down but it turns into a full size bed so .. it was pointless, we just got him stuff that would grow with him as well!
kit_kats_mom replied: Most of L's stuff used to be Katherine's. Katherine is the "neat" type and most of her clothes, toys and books still look brand new....until destructo, ahem, Lauren gets her paws on them. As far as furniture, neither one of my girls used a crib and our changing table is a piece that I found on the side of the road and refurbished. Now, it's being used as my buffet.
coasterqueen replied: Megan has all of Kylie's nursery furniture. She also got her clothes - although she hasn't been able to fit into most.
For a little while Megan may get not as nice stuff, but it will all equal out as they get older.
moped replied: They never had a crib Cary????
lovemy2 replied: WOW - Olivia would STILL Be in her crib if we hadn't moved and not put it back up for her - she still gets in there with Dylan and asks at least twice a week to sleep in there with him
moped replied: Yeah Jack didn't move out of it til April and he was almost 3 - that was a sad sad day for me as well
kit_kats_mom replied: LOL, nope. We went right from co sleeping to toddler bed to regular bed. The toddler bed was just because a friend gave it to us. I wouldn't have bought one. I'd have just as easily put them in a regular bed with rails on it. We did use the pack and play as a bedside bassinet when the girls were first born.
Katherine did have a crib, but she never slept in it...even for naps. We finally sold it when she was one. It was a complete waste of money and time.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Their cribs were very similar in price/style. Their dressers and all that were all secondhand. Madison did get quite a bit of hand me down clothes from Brooke, but she destroys clothes so easily that it didn't matter.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Both of our kids had equally nice things. Both had used, refurbished cribs and furniture. Both had custom handmade bedding. Right now their rooms are the exact same size. We just finished remodeling Maddie's room.
We have yet to purchase 'new' furniture for our children. Maybe one day we will be able to.
CantWait replied: Well most of Robbie's stuff was bought for us, however we did use the same furniture with both of them. Some of the stuff was really nice and although the crib and change table didn't match it was in perfectly good condition.
Anthony did have a painted room unlike Robbie, but we're also better off now then 12 years ago, and when we painted Anthony's nursery, we painted Robbie's new room and went shopping for stuff for his new space as well.
Brias3 replied: I'd say my first two, because of the boy then girl thing. Alot of the big items were used again, since they're only a few years apart, but mostly Mason was short-changed out of everyone. It's hard not to pass down clothes and what not though- especially since some stuff they're only in not even long enough to wear more than a few times.
As far as bedding, blankets, etc., we got new each time just between gifts and the stuff you just buy because its new baby time!
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: We bought both Sam and Abby 'lifetime' crib sets / furniture. Like yours, their cribs turn into a full size bed. I made sure they both had pretty nice furniture - since they'll be using it until they are 18. Its a one-time purchase for me. Abby's is just a tad nicer. I doubt they will notice, though.
bunkie replied: Hugs!!
I agree with the poster that said he isn't going to be comparing beds....
I tell you one thing, I never really thought so much about the baby's nursery until I found internet message boards. THey made me feel guilty and horrible if I ever considered doing anything less then the first child. But soon I learned to blow that all off. Thing is, I can see a new parent spending 2K on a nursery and just laugh at them. Because as a second time parent I see how pointless their purchase is. My second daughters furniture was less expensive then my first only becasue with my first we lived overseas in Germany, we had few options then. When I bought my second daughters furniture I bought what I liked, not because it was the same price or more then.
I dont really think it should be a cost issue between children. IMO we get smarter with each child, with my second I realized I didn't need all the junk I had for my first. With my second I was more into gymboree then I was with my first child, etc. Things change....dont stress. You will do just fine for both of them, overall cost does not matter. What does matter is love.
Cece00 replied: My kids have had equally nice stuff.
lisar replied: My second child has nicer stuff. Here is why when Lexi was born I was a single mother and didnt have alot of money. Well with Raygen I was married and we make good money so she got nicer things than Lexi. It wasnt done on purpose or anything, It was just the situation I was in when I had Lexi.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I wouldn't feel bad for getting a cheaper crib - he isn't going to notice. As long as it works and isn't going to fall down around him he'll be fine. Andrew's crib is one of those 3 in 1 cribs that convert into a toddler bed and then a full sized bed, but it was cheaper to buy him a toddler bed and put Allie in the crib than it was to buy a new crib. I don't like the way our crib looks as a toddler or full bed anyways ~ it's a very plain crib and just doesn't look right as a headboard for a bed.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Definitely Wil since Wesley gets everything as hand-me-downs. But both boys have nice furniture IMO.
