Who has used the Diaper Genie II?

Danalana wrote: We bought one today, but haven't had a diaper to put in it yet. We first had a Diaper Champ, but it didn't work properly...also, it stank terribly! Like, the thing smelled even when it was empty. We threw it out and have just been putting diapers in the trash and taking it out daily. Anyhoo, have you used th DIaper Genie II? If so, what is your opinion of it?

Calimama replied: I haven't but my friend just had a baby and she uses a stainless steel trash can (you know the one where you step on the lever to open the lid) and she said it contains 100% of smells.

Soo if this doesn't work, maybe you could try that!

We have one at the daycare...

I'll just give you one piece of advice...

If you've got a plastic container and you're intending to store more than a days worth of dirty/wet diapers in it, it's going to stink to the high heavens no matter how "good" it may be.

After the 5th or 6th diaper of the day our diaper genies stink and the bags in them get changed twice daily. And nothing is grosser than those sausage twisted warm diaper trash bags! wacko.gif

I would stick with the "take it out daily" method regardless of what receptical you go with... lol wink.gif

Calimama replied:
Ohhh Rachel puke.gif Thanks for that mental image. rolling_smile.gif

Kentuckychick replied:
lol... mental image I physically have to deal with on a daily basis. noooooo.gif

*shudders*

On second thought Dana... return the Diaper Genie right away!!! tongue.gif

my2monkeyboys replied: I have on e and I LOVE it!! It doesn't smell at all, even when slapped filled with stinky diapers. I will say that the newer one (the one you and I have, Dana) works even better than the old one did that I had with Will, though it did a great job for us as well.
I would not have a baby without one, myself, but that's just my experience.

jcc64 replied: It's been a long while since we changed diapers around here, but we had the first generation Diaper Genie, purchased for my oldest, who is now 16. It NEVER smelled, ever. We still have it, along with a lifetime supply of liners (we got a good price and way over-ordered). If anyone wants it all, claim it and its yours.

Jeanne,I just pm'd you about it..Just let me know if you still have it..Thanks,Shawna smile.gif

Mommy2Isabella replied: We had a Diaper Champ and it was HORRID!! We didn't have any little contraption with Isaia, number 1 diapers go in the trash can, number two's go in the trash can that you put your trash in to be picked up.

I have never had a problem with smell in the house, we take the trash out pretty much daily or every other day but with it only being pee pee in there its not really smelly.

coasterqueen replied: I had what I guess would be the Diaper Genie I (didn't know there were 2 versions of it) and used it for both girls and never had a problem with it, nor with smell.
