Who's the Better Driver? - Friendly Debate Please!

redplaydoh replied: I voted women because I think women are less likely to speed or want to "race" their cars. Honestly I don't think it CAN be divided by gender, there are bad drivers either way.

from what I see in our area (woman driving putting on lip stick,doing hair,eye junk,not paying attention to the road or the world around them.
but that doesnt mean every woman is a bad driver I just think men are more in tuned on whats going on around them.

When I was in college, I would have said Rod. Now, I am. Although he may try to claim that he is.

luvmykids replied: I guess I can't really say, I think most of the women I know are better drivers than their spouses but I do know some women who are so bad I'd never let them drive my kids

my2monkeyboys replied: I didn't vote, as I really don't think you can divide it that way. My husband is a much better driver than I am defensively, but I am more careful. In rush hour, lots of traffic, bad weather conditions, etc I'd much rather him drive, but I am a bit more careful, so I have had less accidents/tickets.

Kaitlin'smom replied: well if you go by insurance rates based on single men vs single women, same zip code, driving record, same car..ect the woman will get a lower rate. However I must add is very rare to have the exact same case with only difference being male vs female.

Boo&BugsMom replied: I'm not really sure. It depends. On one hand, I think women are calmer when they drive, over men who exhibit more road rage. But, whenever I see a "stupid driver", it seems to always be a woman. When I say stupid, I mean someone who isn't watching what they're doing, driving ungodly slow, doing dumb things on the road because they aren't paying attention, etc. I think it depends on what makes a good driver.

Calimama replied: I cant vote. It's one of those questions where it depends on the man and woman. To sit here and say.. "men/ women"... would be making a judgment with no facts. I try to steer away from making those. In my house though, my husband is. He doesn't try to race, has little to no road rage, and his a concentrated driver.

A&A'smommy replied: I really wouldn't say one sex is a better driver than the other I really think it has everything to do with who the person is. Like in my family I'm a better driver when it comes to up close and personal traffic, that is moving slowly, but dh is better when it comes to winding roads or up close and personally traffic that is driving 80-100 mph. We live in a small town and I would have to say I drive WAY safer than him I'm terrified he is going to get in an accident because he drives SOO crazy!!

I believe it's true that a man's insurance is higher because of this fact. I believe it decreases when he gets married BECAUSE they say he's more likely to not get into a wreck once married. Maybe because his wife will get upset?

luvbug00 replied: Based on my life. Men. I hate to admit I am the #1 most agressive driver on the road. when i am without children inside. I used to drag my friends car so I drive fast. only one ticket in the 7 years of driving but beware to the slowpoke in frount of me and should i get cut off I will speed up and cut the person who cut me off so close you could stick a piece of paper between the bumpers. in other words I am a bad driver.

HuskerMom replied: I would say that it depends on the person. But I know that my DH is a better driver than me. He has more patience with other drivers than I do. I get irritated with slow and stupid drivers

Yep, exactly what I was thinking! It really does depend on the person though so it's hard to say that one is better than the other.
