Why did it have to be THAT??!?!

amynicole21 wrote: While on vacation, Sophia really became a talker. She "named" all of my relatives special names (basically her version of their name if she couldn't pronounce it). My sister Jorie has become TeeTee huh.gif And my Mom - the most sensitive person in my family - became Bucca (pronounced Boo-Kuh). How Sophia got that from Grandma, I have no idea, but it has stuck like glue and Sophia won't change her mind.

The problem is that my Mom is half Romanian, and grew up around the Romanian language. In Romanian, Bucca means BUTT! ohmy.gif I remember my Grandma telling me to move my bucca all the time when I was little!! rolleyes.gif My mother is not impressed dry.gif I would think it's actually kind of a cute name for her, if I didn't know what it meant that is...

Hopefully, Sophia will learn to say Grandma soon and forget all about this little nickname. Ugh!

coasterqueen replied: LOL. It's kinda cute, though wub.gif I mean that she came up with that word? Do you think she has heard you or your mother say it? Kinda weird if she never heard it before. Well, hopefully she will get "grandma" or something similar soon. These kids have a mind of their own though, lol.

Heather replied: AWw that is a cute little name, until you find out the meaning. Little Sophia doesn't understand what the word means, but I can see how your mom would be upset a little. I hope grandma becomes part of her vocab soon.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: laugh.gif Oh that is just so funny! Well you know kids, they will say anything! laugh.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: LOL!!! That's cute though. I think it's funny. You never can tell what these kids are going to come up with.

MommyToAshley replied: rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif LOL! Too Funny! Hopefully your Mom will see the humor in it.

I can remember some words that Ashley would say that didn't sound anything like the original word. For example, Ashley used to say "guack" for "flower". We never understood why... we kept trying to figure out why she called it that. (She can say flower now though) I thought it was weird, but then I read a book about how toddlers learn to talk. And, because they can't move their tongue/mouth properly yet to form certain consonant sounds, they will substitute another sound for it. Maybe that is what she did?

Maddie&EthansMom replied: rolling_smile.gif What a cutie! I think that is too funny. Your poor mom...she probably wants to be called grandma so bad and all she gets is 'butt'! LOL! I bet Sophia catches on quick. Maybe when you show her your mom's picture you can say 'grandma' repeatedly. That would help.

A&A'smommy replied: LOL silly girl!!! rolling_smile.gif she sure is a cutie!!!

kimberley replied: LOL now there's a story for when she is older! rolling_smile.gif you used to call Grandma "butt" laugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

ur mom shouldn't be offended... she is just a baby baby.gif

CantWait replied: rolling_smile.gif LOL that's too cute. Darn cute the things kids say rolling_smile.gif

MomToMany replied: wub.gif I think that's really cute, although I can see why your mom would be upset. But she's just a toddler, and she doesn't know what it means. She'll get the hang of "grandma" soon enough.

aspenblue1 replied: LOL. That is funny I hope she learns grandma soon.
