Wierd Poll Question
Ashlynn's Mommy wrote: I ask this question because I was watching a baby story on the tlc channel, and there was a mother giving her baby a bath with gloves on (rubber gloves). It was something I never seen or even heard of before. I'm interested on you opinions about this.
salmndr007 replied: Our baby isn't here yet, but I have heard of some gloves that you can put on...basically looks like rubber gloves, but is used for exfoliating type stuff...they have soft little bumps on the hand parts...kind of like using a wash cloth, but you don't have to hold the cloth while washing the baby you can do it with gloves on.
MyLuvBugs replied: That's the weirdest thing!! Did they put gas masks on when they changed poopie diapers too? lol
CantWait replied: Maybe it's because latex gloves give some grip, so the baby wouldn't slip around. The nurse at the hospital used gloves when Anthony had his first bath hours after he was born.
kit_kats_mom replied: or maybe she was protecting a mani?
PrairieMom replied: I would think that gloves would make things more slippery. I wear them all the time at the hospital, and know how hard it can be to do things with them on. I personally would be to scared she would slip in the tub if I had gloves on. I would also never think of doing anthing to someone elses child in a hospital setting without gloves on.

mckayleesmom replied: Nope, just my bare hands....they do the job just fine.
redchief replied: As a daily nitrile glove wearer I can assure you they do not improve grip in the water. Most likely the nurse at the hospital wore gloves as a mandatory or strongly suggested part of their infection control program.

I think that's weird, bathing your baby with gloves on!
When a mother's skin touches her baby's, it creates a lovely bond. Why using gloves?
Also, I think gloves are slippery...it'll risk too much!

Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I think that for whatever reason she used the gloves, I dont know, and my opinion is that poor baby, because I would think the gloves would hurt, and irritate the baby's skin. Poor thing!!
TheOaf66 replied: I think that would take some of the experience away, and it is your baby not a disease patient.
ashtonsmama replied: That's ridiculous. The baby CAME OUT OF YOU, you can surely touch his/her skin...right??!?
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I know right!! I always look foward to that bonding time with my baby.
A&A'smommy replied: thats crazy!!!
holley79 replied: Not a bad idea.
