Wish me luck - Macie/dentist

luvmykids wrote: She has to go back today to finish getting the bugs out of her teeth rolling_smile.gif Two fillings and another crown....she did fine last time but I know today is more work and will take more time and I will probably be a nervous wreck wacko.gif

I hate that she has to go through all this bawling.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

I hope it's a quick and painless visit. hug.gif hug.gif I hate going to the dentist.

luvmykids replied:
I meant to ask you about the dentist, since I missed the story about your teeth the other night wink.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: laugh.gif Well, after you posted about taking Macie to the dentist I think I made an appt for my kids that day. tongue.gif They didn't have any cavities and Maddie was able to get sealants.

I went last week and wasn't as fortunate. sad.gif Next week I go in for a root canal and crown ($1200 after insurance). Next year I will have to have a tooth implant and I need NINE fillings!! NINE!! 4 of those are on my wisdom teeth (they came in straight so the dentist didn't want to remove them, they are just prone to cavities b/c they are hard to reach.) The dental hygenist said I have really good bone structure and healthy gums. No gingivitis or periodontal disease. She said she can tell I take great care of my teeth b/c I didn't have hardly any buildup, I was just not blessed with good enamel on my teeth. sad.gif

luvmykids replied: Wow! Ouch! That really stinks, to know there's nothing you can do about it preventatively dry.gif Good luck, I hope your root canal isn't too bad hug.gif

When it's all said and done, it will have cost $1200 for Macie to get fixed up...I can't believe BABY TEETH are so expensive to fix growl.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yeah, Maddie's about to get BRACES on BABY TEETH!!!! ohmy.gif bawling.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
ohmy.gif they do that?

luvmykids replied:
OMG, I had no idea they would even do that, and I'm sure that is a nice chunk of change! hug.gif hug.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Well, she has 9 or 10 permanent teeth that are very crooked. The rule used to be that they wouldn't put braces on until all your perm. teeth were in. Now they fix them early. Maddie really needs them. She has some teeth that she lost last year that aren't coming in b/c her mouth is so crowded. sleep.gif

grandma replied:
It's amazing what they do and how young they do it nowadays. I'm thinking my grand daughter needs braces too, she's only three, but her teeth are not centered in the middle of her mouth. I think I'm gonna see if dil will take her to my orthodontist.

luvmykids replied:
How many baby teeth does she have left? How will she lose them with braces? Or will they have to pull them first?

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I haven't taken her to the orthodontist yet. I have lots of questions. wink.gif I'm pretty sure they don't pull them, though. I think the purpose in doing this is that they only have to wear them 8-9 mos vs 2-3 years. wink.gif

sparkys2boys replied: hug.gif Oh I am suer she will go great again thumb.gif She's a brave lil girl!

A&A'smommy replied: I hope it goes well!!! hug.gif hug.gif

luvmykids replied: Whew, it was a long day wacko.gif Of course she did great, she knew she was going to be there longer today than she has in the past so she took her favorite doll. She had a few tears but at least today she wasn't mad at herself for it, she said "I cried a little bit. But thats ok, I'm still brave" laugh.gif

Now I just have to convince her in a day or two that we can brush back there and she can eat on those teeth.

A&A'smommy replied: awwww I'm glad it went well!!!

holley79 replied: Glad everything went well. thumb.gif

sparkys2boys replied: Glad that it went well again! hug.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
hug.gif Awwww, what a brave little girl! hug.gif

I'm glad it's over and she'll be pain free in no time.

3xsthefun replied: Glad to hear it went well today!

mom21kid2dogs replied: hug.gif hug.gif Poor little Macie! hug.gif hug.gif

Olivia was the same way after she got numbed~she was convinced she couldn't chew or brush on that side!

AlexsPajamaMama replied: What a big girl Im glad she did so well!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Glad it went well Monica! thumb.gif I took Wil last week to the dentist for the first time, just for a cleaning. All went well, he did great, but I was nervous too. hug.gif

Bugs...that's cute!! We told Wil that there was glue on his teeth and the dentist had to clean it off. Worked! wink.gif

TrulyBlessed replied:
Hello!!! I'm new here and I'm just wondering how old your daughter is. I have to take my 4 year old daughter to the dentist tomorrow, but we are having her put to sleep because she has to have a lot of work done. She is getting the front 4 teeth pulled, 3 crowns, 4 (?) fillings and 1 spacer. I know that sounds terrible and yes she has really bad teeth, we don't have dental insurance so it took along time to get the money together to have the work done.

My 9 yr old daughter just had to have 4 teeth pulled and 3 fillings, it was very hard on her and I hated having to put her through it, so I know how you were feeling.

luvmykids replied:
She just turned four, I was worried about having so much done at once but figured it was best to get it over with and not keep dragging her back. I hope all goes well with your 4yo hug.gif

TrulyBlessed replied: Thank you, that is very reassuring to know your daughter did so well at such a young age!

luvmykids replied:
Let us know how it all goes hug.gif

Calimama replied: I'm glad she did so well. You have one tough little girl. wub.gif
