With everything "going green"

mckayleesmom wrote: And new ways to help the enviroment and stuff......Is anyone besides me hesitant in some areas?

For example...I would love to try new cleaning methods, but Im a cleaning product fanatic.....I have been using alot more greener friendly products....but its still hard for me to give up.

Laundry soap...I know the 2 X concentrate bottles are to make less room and less waste....but I hate them because the prices are higher and I feel like Im getting ripped off.

HuskerMom replied:
I don't like those. I got one and it lasted about half the time a regular one did. That makes me mad because I'll end up spending more on laundry soap.

A&A'smommy replied: I'm not really hesitant about it I would LOVE to go greener but honestly its REALLY hard because a lot of things are that "greener" are a LOT more expensive its harder plus I don't have a lot of resources where I live at. wink.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
True...very true...Alot of things are not affordable for us to go green.

luvmykids replied: I'm a cleaning product junkie too, I love my scented stuff and the convenience. I've been trying to use vinegar, peroxide and baking soda when I run out of stuff but something new always snags me when I'm at the store laugh.gif

Cece00 replied: I'm fine with the laundry detergents in smaller bottles...I use the recommended amt & they last just as long as the big bottles...some of you may be using too much, you REALLY dont need very much in a load of laundry to get your clothes clean.

But I'm not "going green" with my cleaning supplies. No way.

I recycle a lot, too, so I'm doing what I need to do, but I wont mess with my cleaning stuff, I'm too funny about that.

mckayleesmom replied:
I don't use alot....I usually use half the reccomended dose unless its bedding or something.......But I still feel like Im getting ripped off with those little bottles.

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: Nope, not hesitant at all, but I've been using "green" products for a long time now. It's just a matter of deciding how important the earth is to you, and to take care of it accordingly.

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
I felt that way a little bit too when I was buying those - I know I was getting the same amount of loads out of it but it just looks so much smaller. tongue.gif My laundry detergent that I'm using now is nice in that way because it comes in a nice big jug (not as big as the regular sized jugs of laundry soap, but bigger than the small ones), and has a pump so you can't possibly use too much. You're supposed to use one pump per load (about 1 ounce) and sometimes I don't push the pump down all the way.

gr33n3y3z replied: Going green is very expensive you would figure less chemicals cheaper products= VERY Expensive go figure oh well I will do what I can but I will never go 100% green

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: we are kind of....teal.. I love the concentrated laundry stuff since it is lighter biggrin.gif and I pay the same price for my cleaners as I did buying non regular products before. $9.99 for a huge bottle of simple green and that is what I use for most of my household stuff....I believe I have had it for 8 months (since i moved) and it is probably 3/4 of the way full. Basically I am cheap. If it is going to cost me more $$ I will not do it...but being green to me isn't buying all the specifically 'green' new things so cost isn't an issue there

coasterqueen replied: Hesitant? No.

Lazy? Yes. biggrin.gif

Going green with cleaning supplies means I have to do a bit more to get things done. At least it does to me. If I want to use Clorox wipes, I just get the can out and use a wipe. Otherwise I have to make mixtures of bleach or vinegar and water, etc. Maybe I'm naive on what I have to do, that's probably it. blush.gif

I am trying to go more green with cleaning supplies. I do with lots of stuff, just some I can't get rid of yet. I'm not big into having them because they smell better, different scents, etc.

I don't use dryer sheets. I don't use a lot of cleaning products. I used to because of scents, etc, etc. Now that we are buying organic groceries I've had to scale back on spending so much on other stuff and all the different cleaning supplies was one of the things I scaled back on.
