Wondering...
Tamatha wrote: Hi all,
This is my very first post in this forum, and I truly appreciate any feedback you can provide.
I have a question. I have been on depo-provera for about 3 years or so. I was due for my last shot in April, but hubby and I opted to stop the b/c and see what happens. I have had two normal periods since then. My last was early in September (I have the date at work, but am at home at the moment.) Before I went on b/c, my cycle was not regular at all, and the last two were actually 5 weeks apart. I'm not even sure I'm ovulating yet.
That being said, this week, I have started to feel not so great. Breasts are VERY tender, especially in the morning, and I'm having all kinds of cramps in my lower abdomen. I don't really know when my cycle is due, but I'm really hoping that these are symptoms of pregnancy! I realize it is probably too early to take any kind of test, but I really want to! What do you think? Am I wishing these symptoms on myself because so badly I want to start a family? Or could this be the real deal?
Thanks again for your input!

Littlejojames replied: They is always a chance that you could be pregnant. Have you done a HMP??? The best thing is to have a blood test done they are more accurate than doing a hone test and can be picked up earlier.
Good Luck and let us know the outcome.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Go with your gut instinct and take the test! If you don't have your period in a few weeks go and see your doctor! GOOD LUCK!
paradisemommy replied: there could be a chance that you are pg but if your last period was the beginning of sept. then your next one should be beg of oct. or somewhere around there - if you test too early with a hpt, you may get a negative cause it takes a while to get the reading high enough to get a postive - i think that's why they say to wait until you actually miss your next period.
sometimes too - pregnancy symptoms are almost the same as pms symptoms so hard to tell.
i would say wait until at least begining of oct. and if no sign of af then take a hpt or better yet go see your ob and have them do a blood test...good luck either way..and let us know...hope you decide to stick around - lots of great people here!!
ediep replied: yup, that is exactly what I was going to say! Good luck
Tamatha replied: Well, I just got back from the drug store and decided to buy a set of 3 HPT's--the First Response ones that are supposed to get a reading from 4 or 5 days before your period or so... I checked, and my last period started on Aug. 25 (I couldn't remember this morning... too early!) so I'm gonna bite the bullet and take one of the three either later tonight or in the morning. Don't want to tell hubby yet until I know for sure that we're pregnant! As timing would have it, I actually have an OB appointment tomorrow for a normal checkup and annual exam! So I plan on talking to her about this, as well. I will definitely keep you all posted. Thanks so much for your input and support!

New Mommy replied: Hurry and tell us what happened at the doc or with the test...... I guess I will have to wait until it is daytime for you guys in the US, man time differences suck.
Littlejojames replied: Have you done your test yet??
Hope that you get the result you want.
New Mommy i know what you mean about the time difference. Where are you from??
MommyToAshley replied: Hello and Welcome!
So did you test, or did your OB do a blood test? I hope you get the results you want.
Guest replied: I did one HPT last night and another this morning, and had a negative result on both. (I couldn't wait last night, then decided to try again this morning when HCG levels are supposed to be higher.) However, it may still be too early to get an accurate reading if I am positive. I have my OB appointment today at 12:00. Will update you all when I get back as far as what she has to say and if she opts to do a blood test. Again, thank you for all of your support! What a wonderful group of people I've stumbled across!!

Tamatha replied: Forgot to log in, sorry! That message up there is from me!!
coasterqueen replied: I was going to say the same thing. Sometimes with the First Response HPT's you can get a false negative..they aren't 100% accurate. I'd wait a few days and take another one. Good luck!
Tamatha replied: Just got back from my OB appointment. She drew blood, and I will know the test results by the end of the day today. I am so nervous that I can barely function, and I'm supposed to be working... ha...
I will let you all know what I find out!

MommyToAshley replied: I have my fingers crossed for you.... can't wait to hear the results!!!
Tamatha replied: Just talked to the OB's office. The test came back negative. 0 GHC. I'm pretty bummed... Oh well! Such is life, right?
MommyToAshley replied: I am sorry to hear that.
Maybe next month will be your month!!
Sending some ~~~~ BABY DUST ~~~~~ your way.
aspenblue1 replied: I am sorry. Hopefully next month will be your month! Good luck sending baby dust!
Littlejojames replied: Hope that next month is your month.
Sending baby dust (hey it works aswell they all sent me baby dust and i got pregnant)
Tamatha replied: Thanks. I'll keep you all posted... Am still pretty depressed about it today. I'm sure many of you who have been through this already can understand that. I haven't told hubby anything about this, because he's the type who gets his heart set on something, and then if he doesn't get exactly what he anticipated, gets very discouraged. So he doesn't even know that I was tested yesterday. How have you all handled times like this? Do you have any tips to get over this? I'm sure part of my problem this morning is that I couldn't sleep last night. My brain wouldn't shut off, so I was up until sometime after 1am. It is now 6:23am here. I have a LOOOOOONG day ahead of me (work, then home for dinner, then to Leadership Training for my church, then worship team practice after that. I hope to be home by 10 tonight...)
So what should I be doing to help us conceive? My doctor said I don't need to change any of my medications, and that my multi-vitamin that I take daily is great. But she didn't give me any tips beyond that. I was on depo provera for a long time, but according to my doc, all of what I just went through was probably ovulation. I honestly appreciate the kindness you all have shown me, and I'm very thankful for the warmth and openness I sense here.
Going to grab breakfast now... have a fabulous day!!
