Working with migraines
Halo42101 wrote: I was wondering if anyone works with migraines and how you do it. I have migraines myself. That's why I have been a housewife all this time. I am afraid to drive because I have driven with migraines before and have a hard time focusing on the road when it happens. The bottom line is that I miss children and really want to work with them again. I am certified as a ECE. I have worked with kids since I was 15 but had stop when my migraines got more intense on the job. I went to a migraine specialist and everything but it didn't help. I'd really like suggestions or advice if anyone has some. Thank you in advance.

coasterqueen replied: How do I work w/migraines...I just do. If I didn't I wouldn't be able to afford my children.
Anyways, I suffered migraines daily for the longest time seeing doctor after doctor, specialist after specialist. Finally they concluded it was a lost cause and tried one other avenue called Biofeedback. It worked! It totally helped me rid of my migraines that much faster and now I don't have them as often. When I do I pretty much know how to get rid of them fairly fast.
Halo42101 replied: I am sorry for your mother's migraines Holley & also for yours Karen. I am glad you finally found relief for your migraines, Karen. That's wonderful! I heard a lot of ppl. who still work with migraines and they say that they just do it. I know, why ask then, right? Well, it just makes me wonder how you really do it feeling like that. I think it's amazing when ppl. do continue to work with the worse of migraines. They derserve so much credit!
siblingtoolivia replied: Have you tried accupuncture?????
Halo42101 replied: No, I haven't. I have heard a lot about it though... including the cost. I wish it wasn't so expensive because I would definitely try it.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I get migraines when I am stressed. I work in ECE so I tend to get them frequently. I use to get them a lot more often when I ran a group daycare center outside of the home. I use to have to take a prescription. Now I usually only have to take Excedrine Stress Headache or Excedrine Migraine and they go away within a decent amount of time.
mamasbigbaby replied: That helps mne.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I used to have migraines all the time.
Then at 17, I had a TIA (transient Ischemic attack) and have had to take a baby aspirin every day, in order to keep my blood thinner than normal. I haven't really had more than 2 or 3 migraines in a year since then, and that was 7 years ago. I don't know if it's really related or not - my doctor says it isn't... but who knows.
ashtonsmama replied: I hope Biofeedback or something similar works for you Jessi. I can't imagine how you ladies do it. I can hardly handle a common headache.
Halo42101 replied: I am surprised baby asprin helped you so well but anything is worth a try when you have a migraine, right? I am so glad it helped you.
ZandersMama replied: Sorry no advice, just hugs all I can do when i've got one is cry
