Would you want to buy looking at this? - Photography
Crystalina wrote: Im making this a poll just incase someone doesn't want to let me know their answer. I've been told to think of a name and start a portfolio. I haven't printed any pics off of the computer yet. I need to find a good printing company. I've also thought of a name but have not made it mine yet. I don't want to spend money until I know for sure. This name "Bella Photograpy" has double meaning. Bella (Izabella) or Bella (Beautiful). It's kind of growing on me. This pic would be an example of an advertising card or flyer. What do you think? let me have it. Those guys on the photography site don't hold anything back that's for sure.
Here is the pic/advertisment.
kit_kats_mom replied: I like the picture and the layout. The picture looks a little too washed out though. I'm not sure if it's a flash thing or what though. I'm no pro.
luvmykids replied: I think I'd like to see a tad more contrast, is that what you meant Cary? Otherwise it looks great.
mckayleesmom replied: Well personally....I have always liked all your pictures....I think it looks great.
kit_kats_mom replied: Probably. I don't know the lingo. LOL I'd also probably photoshop out the leaves and stump in the lawn. I like clean backgrounds in portraits.
Crystalina replied: Do you guys mean it is kind of bland? I think it may have been the flash. I made it black and white because her dress lost alot of color when I took it. I am still learing so please throw me your thoughts. I'll see what I can do if it were to be color.
mckayleesmom replied: Can we see some other examples??
Crystalina replied: I will try to get some more examples but they are mostly flowers. The guys I'm working with say to do flowers and plants and birds (that kind of stuff) and work my way to people. I'm just getting impatient.
Here is a flower I got "Job Well Done" on. It's big so here is the link. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e289/cee...phy/yellow3.jpg
Here is one of Bella I took a while ago.

I have many more of the shoot I did earlier (the first post) but she was so ticked at me (can you tell ) that I have to go through them and find a decent one. The one in the first post caught my eye right away because she wasn't looking at me and giving me the "I hate the camera" look.
luvmykids replied: I was just going to say I like candids much better than direct shots. Something else that always attracts me to a photo is when the background is blurred and one object in front is in focus.
Crystalina replied: Here is another one in color. Maybe too much contrast in this one? It's a big one. Here eyes were red because she had been crying (because I'm so mean ) and she had a handful of grass that she threw at me. She loves to have her pic taken unless I NEED to take it. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e289/cee...aphy/Bella2.jpg
I just realized that when this one is done loading the original size photobucket shrinks it to fit the screen which distorts it.
I have not tried that with a person yet but I did do it with a rooster. I am still very green at this. But I was told to get feedback and I'm grateful you guys are willing to give it.
gr33n3y3z replied: I love the pics but they are not crisp looking
Are these done with a Digi Cam?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: What camera are you using and what setting? When taking a portrait it helps to use the portrait setting. That's what blurs the background and brings the object in focus.
The pictures are lovely, btw. You have a beautiful subject, though.
I haven't studied photography in a few years so I'm kind of rusty, but I hope to take some more courses in the spring. You are doing a great job...are there any places around there where you could sign up to take some courses? Our community college offers continuing ed classes at some reduced rates.
Crystalina replied: I don't understand what you mean by crisp. Are you meaning sharp? That could be because I'm a digital noise removing fanatic.
I'm using a Kodack Z650. Not the most proffesional tool but it's great for practicing. One man I spoke to said his camera cost up to $8000. Yea, I'll just stick to my kodak for now. I still have way too much to learn before I upgrade. When I took the pics of "Ticked of Bella" I used the automatic setting because for some reason every time I tried portrait it blurred.
coasterqueen replied: Well I don't know anything about photography but I think they are great. I'm going to try my hand at photography tomorrow. I just can't afford to pay for professional photography or even Sears when I can't walk out of there w/o spending $200 so I'm going to take Kylie's 4 year pics tomorrow at the park. I just HOPE I can do 1/2 of good as job as you did.
Keep practicing. You will get to where you want to be.
Crystalina replied: Here is DH and his hunting dog. I used the painting effect on this one. I'm going to get it put on canvas for him. It's huge but photobucket has resized it. It may be hard to get all the brush strokes. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e289/cee...bestfriend1.jpg
Thanks, how sweet. I hope you post what you do so I can see them. I've seen what some of the pros do and like one person told me... photograpy is like art...everyone has their own taste and what they think looks good.
gr33n3y3z replied: you can see a blur around the images but other then that they are very nice
hawkshoe replied: I really liked the flower shot, that one looks more professional to me. The ones of your daughter are really nice for the average photographer, but lack a professional feel. I think some has to do with lighting and some is the actual setting. I am not a professional, so I can't actually pinpoint the problem, I can only tell you what I see.
Crystalina replied: Thank you so much for the critism. I would love to open my own studio one day and I have been doing alot of research on the photography business. I have found that it is 75% business and 25% actual photography. I don't think I will have a problem with the business aspect of it since DH and I have two business' but it's the photography that's going to get me. I am still in the photography learning stage (obviousely ) and I am just trying to get insight into what is good and what isn't. You guys are so much tamer with your remarks then the photographers are. I need to know if people don't like it or what they would change. I don't want it sugarcoated or I will never get it right.
mom2my2cuties replied: What they are talking about you doing is called Macro photography, and you might want to try to do is single out one particular flower. Because that close up, they get a little messy looking.
luvbug00 replied: The black and white I'd buy.
holley79 replied: The picture in your first thread shows a lot of potential. Photo equipment is starting to come down in the digital department. I bought a Cannon Rebel TI digital SLR that takes awesome pictures. I haven't used it much because it's such a pain for jsut point and shoot. I will take it out once I start getting outdoor pictures of Annika/ family.
I think the picture would have been better left color instead of black and white. JMO. I think the dress being white and your subject just looks to run together. Just keep practicing.
