Wow - My brother went AWOL - Now I'm worried

KatieLeigh79 wrote: Just a quick detail on what is going on, he went into the Marines quickly and didn't really "enjoy" what he was doing, we thought he was turning is life around and were supportive and then he bought a rather nice 20,000 racing truck or something down there with his money, draining out his account and showed up here memorial weekend to "visit" we yesterday found out he wasn't even given permission to leave and was told he had to be back at 8 tonight or face big troubles (probably jail time etc) he's already been with them over a year and knows what can happen... so I called dads line today hoping no one was there and that Kevin was on his way back to NC so that he wasn't totally AWOL and dad got the phone, said he's been sick all night - Kevin never came home, guess he didn't even take his wallet and dad found a list of guys #'s and he figures they either gave him cash and told him to run to Canada or he's hiding out at someones house... he's in for a world of hurt now, had so much going for him and now even if they do find him and drag his buns back to NC its going to be correctional action, no pay, lost his schooling, the truck and any other toy he bought will have to be repossessed im sure... my tummy sorta hurts now to, guess I just wait and see if he makes contact with anyone - if he calls here though I'm supposed to tell him to go back to dads so he can ship him out, otherwise we can go to jail for aiding and abiding or something along those lines for what he's now done, and if he asks for cash to give him none.... with a big truck like that he can't get to far unless someone is giving him the $ he needs, just hoping he doesn't do something stupid and hurt himself he may already be in a "world" of hurt but ... boy not sure what to think...

KatieLeigh79 replied: Well 10 this morning he showed back up at my dads with no sleep and hung over, so dad and him, both with no sleep took right off from the house to go back to base, I'm guessing he will get knocked back down to private, loose most his pay if not all of it for a while and be confined to base for who knows how long .... and that is the lightest sentace possible.. now I'm just praying they get there safe with no sleep!

Oh my. I'm glad that this situation is somewhat resolved. It's good that he didn't get discharged for this. Get a dishonorable discharge from any one of the branches of service pretty much messes things up for life. No one will give you a job after that. My Dh is AF and he takes his job very seriously. I really do hope that this gives your brother the wake up call that he needs. He will be in my prayers.

bellymonstersmama replied: I'm sorry you are all going through this. I know how hard it is to wworyy about siblings. We don't want anything bad to happen to them no matter how irresponsible they are. It is good that he showed up agian. I hope things work out for him.
