I'm SOO excited!!!! My mom, lissa and I are going today to pick out something for the baby.. I'm thinking we will get a bouncer seat (Alyssa LOVED hers!!!). Anyway I just wanted to share my excitement!!!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Yay how fun! I'm jealous - I didn't get a shower for Allie because she was my second child... people around here think you're only entitled to showers for your first baby.
Danalana replied: Yay! I hope it's wonderful!
A&A'smommy replied: Yeah I didn't think i would get one but all my friends were insistant that I have one
momofone replied: Have fun!
bawoodsmall replied: Me neither...it is kinda a bummer but people think you already have all that stuff...which I would have if they were the same sex.
Have fun at your shower. I hope you get the bumbo..that thing looks cool to me.
sparkys2boys replied: Oh that's great! Enjoy!
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: That is so cool!
You dont realize how much money a baby shower saves you until you dont have one. I remember a few weeks before Abby was born I had to get all of her crib bedding, her coming home outfit, baby monitor and other misc items (I was using all of Sammy's bouncers, swings, carseat, pack n play,,etc) and still spent $700 !!!
It really adds up quickly. That's so nice of them to throw you a shower.
moped replied: Thats what I thought actually.........
MoonMama replied: Awww how fun! Take lots of pics, and I was to hear all about it.
Calimama replied: Have fun!!
DillsMommy replied: Have fun! And take lots of pictures for us to see!!
MommyToAshley replied: Oh bummer, sorry.
I happen to think every baby should be celebrated. Everyone doesn't have to bring big expensive presents, but every baby should have a shower. to etiquette rules on that one! Too bad you didn't live closer, I would have had a shower for you!
ZandersMama replied: People around here are like that too Instead we had a big party on his christening, which was cool, because it was right around his due date.
A&A'smommy replied: I COMPLETELY agree, I wouldn't care if anyone brought anything for her I just want her to be celebrated. If I didn't have a shower I was planning on having a bbq to celebrate bringing her home for everyone.
luvmykids replied: Have a great time!
mckayleesmom replied: I always thought a baby shower was to celebrate a new arrival......
I saw this cool baby shower on tv once....It was a used item baby shower where people gave back the things they borrowed from the pregnant person or gave them something that they loved or thought was helpful when they had their kids....It was really cute.
A&A'smommy replied: THAT is a REALLY cool idea!!!
I had a great shower day I'm SOOO excited and I got EVERYTHING I needed EXCEPT a diaper bag but I also got gift cards so I can get a diaper bag and some more burp cloths.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Yeah I agree - I wanted to have a party after Allie was born to celebrate her coming but we never did. I was a little afraid people would think we were fishing for presents, but really I don't think they would have.
I wouldn't have needed a whole lot for Allie either since Andrew wasn't that old and I had a car seat and crib and stuff like that, but it just would have been fun, and of course I didn't have any girl clothes or bedding!
TrulyBlessed replied: That is awesome!! Everyone around here also feels that you should only have a babyshower for the first baby. My daughter Megan is 9 yrs old and I got rid of everything after having Alyssa, whom is almost 5 yrs old. Now I am pregnant with my first little boy and I am struggling very hard to get what I need for this baby. My friend told me to look on Craigslist for some of the stuff, so I searched for a baby swing and people are wanting $50.00 or more for their swing. I'm sorry, but I don't care what condition it is in, it is USED, so why would I pay almost the same amount as what I would in the store? I understand it cost them money, but the minute you bring it home and open the box, the value is gone in my opinion. But then again I am a cheapy when it comes to garage sales.
Anyways, I'm so happy to hear you had a great babyshower and I agree I think every child should be celebrated, even when gifts are not involved.
