Yeast Infections?? - and men.....
MyLuvBugs wrote: Can Men get a yeast infection in their wee wee? Just curious!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Yes. I've seen it in the lab.
moped replied: Yes, in fact Jack just got rid of one!
MyLuvBugs replied: Really? Are the symptoms the same as a woman's, or different?
moped replied: Kelly can answer this better, but Jack really didn't have symptoms, but a very red rashy penis......doc said to use monistat cream
moped replied: Kelly, i have to wonder if yeast is hereditary, I get them all the time and oddly enough Jack got one
MyLuvBugs replied: hmmmmmm.......maybe that's not what DH has then. I swear he has an infection of some sort, but he swears he's fine. He's driving me nuts.
moped replied: He needs to get it checked out!!!!!!
What makes you think he does?
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Symptomatically, I think it rarely bothers men like it bothers women. If you haven't had one recently, Erika, I wouldn't think your DH has one. Men tend to get them from their wives/partners. Kids get them because of moist diapers and such. I don't know if they are hereditary, Jen, sorry.
MyLuvBugs replied: Well, he keeps breaking out in these HORRIBLE acne rashes down there, and after he pees and flushes (sorry TMI) the water in the toilet bubbles like yeast does in water (like when ya bake breads and stuff KWIM?), and it doesn't do that with me. I haven't had a yeast infection in almost 4 years or so, and we haven't had sex in so long....but that's another story ...
He sweats down there like NONE OTHER, and he has to change his pants after work b/c he's so sweaty. So, the moist situation is there, just like diapers I suppose. I really think the sweating is b/c of either a fever or being over weight (maybe both) , but he swears he's fine and dandy. UGH.
moped replied: He could esaily have one if he sweats like that.....he really should go get checked
JP&KJMOM replied: I agree that he needs to get checked. It could just be a heat rash but some of the symptoms are similar to those of a diabetic male (my DH is diabetic). I would for sure try to get him to go to the doctor.
MyLuvBugs replied: Diabetes? Really??? Oh goodness! That will just make he's day when I mention that to him. *can you feel the sarcasism* I'm pre-diabetic normally, so I guess I can see some of the signs in him. Heavy, thirst, craves sugar.....
Well, let's see......if I start nagging him now to go to the dr........he'll be in the dr's office for an appointment by December. I might have to bump up my nagging a little. lol
jcc64 replied: Yes, guys can in fact get yeast infections. The symptoms are itchiness and the presence of some white stuff, though not nearly as copious as in women. They usually catch them from their partners, and they are treated with the same stuff we use- Monistat and the like. Both partners should take acidopholus or probiotics continuously until a few months pass w/o symptoms. I also can't help but think diet is somehow involved. Too many carbs or sweets in the diet, maybe?
MyLuvBugs replied: Oh you're totally right Jeanne. He's a sweet-aholic! I had him down to only 1 diet soda a day, but now he's back up to 5-6 a day. UGH! And his idea of breakfast is chocalate chip cookies and banana nut muffins. Don't get me wrong. I cook healthy (tons of veggies and whole wheat products), but he likes to go "shopping" for stuff he likes when I don't feel like going to the store. That's how we ended up with a gallon of ice cream in our freezer over the last week.
I brooched the subject of having him go to the Dr. for a check up last night.....let's just say it didn't go well. He said "I just got a check up last year"....I said "NO! You went to the Dermatologist for the moles on your back. It's not the same thing!" His response to that was "Well, she check my skin all over!"
Anyway, I'm trying to get him to get blood tests done for mineral/vitamin levels in his blood, Blood sugar, cholesterol (which I KNOW is high), etc....Plus BP checked, weight, and definately his skin. Maybe something will jar him into taking better care of himself.
